Even the new car wash seems to be on a 8x16 base and the little green side terrain is clicked in with a technic pin. Ice Cream shop seems to consist of a 8x16 and a 8x8 section for the building, with a 8x8 "terrace" as has been done before with 3-in-1 corner buildings. The appartment building, the planters are clearly hanging on the sides with pins, the main Half Pipe on the skate park gives away the system as well. Can't wait to see more of the interiors / back sides. I think there's a whole lot more modularity to this City to be seen with more pictures and especially videos , reviews, instructions, and those sets are only about 3.5 weeks away. They're still not on the official site as coming soon sets. Quote

In the meantime, there are many more official pictures at least on https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-city-neuheiten-im-juni-2023/ Back of the box pics show the modularity, and back/interiors. Especially the modules on sets like the Appartment Building, City Center , Family House and Winter Sport Park look quite interchangable to rapidly make different layouts/combinations. (which is great for Kids or different display layouts for shelves etc, these aren't the Icons Modular buildings we're looking at, so things being a bit simpler + open backs is very logical) I think this is still a better attempt at modularity compared to the 2017-2018 3-in-1 line which many hated, it was very flimsy, but I loved the mega-build aspect of it, when combining multiple sets, and this City line really reminds me of those sets. I also like that the vehicles are kept small in those sets, to ~4 wide cars, or mountain bikes etc. City has a new Creative Lead and it's certainly noticeable. As for the 60367 passenger plane, currently listed as a September release, which explains lack of pictures. Edited May 7, 2023 by TeriXeri Quote
danimarroquin Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Looking more deeply , I can see that the Arctic exploration ship does come with 2 vessel hauls again , but I the shape of the front one it’s different from the front . Is that a new vessel haul mold ? Quote

Also it seems like the height of these various modular sections is very SNOT-friendly — most of the building/room modules are 8 bricks and 1 plate (10 modules) tall, and the shorter modules in the Skate Park set are 3 bricks and 1 plate (4 modules) tall. 1 hour ago, danimarroquin said: Looking more deeply , I can see that the Arctic exploration ship does come with 2 vessel hauls again , but I the shape of the front one it’s different from the front . It doesn't look like the front hull has a cutout like the rear one, but it's still wider than any of the other current floating hulls we have with a similarly pointed bow shape. This hull is probably a big factor in why the set is pricier than the Ocean Exploration Ship. But it also explains why the interior is able to be so much larger. Eager to see more interior pics of that set — in one of the lifestyle photos I see a small, closed-off room that could be a head/ship's toilet, but I would not be surprised if some of the other abundant interior space is used for other lifestyle features like a sleeping area or kitchenette, or for additional lab equipment. Yes, this new ship includes a brand new vessel haul mold for the front, and it's quite longer than the one of the back, both of these big pieces seem to be the same (as both of them have open backs) except for the front part. 22 hours ago, TeriXeri said: As for the 60367 passenger plane, currently listed as a September release, which explains lack of pictures. Also the fact that the 2020 set isn't discontinued yet doesn't mean that there won't be a new plane, LEGO.com still sells the 2018 cargo train and it's not listed as a eol set. Quote

Exactly, in Europe LEGO.com even sold the 2020 Police Station far into 2022 while it would officially retire as a new one appeared that year, they still had leftover product I assume. For the 2018 train, it probably sold well enough so it got extended + it was also out of stock for a while in some regions. The 2022 Cargo Train currently is still limited exclusive to only a few stores in my country, perhaps LEGO wants to wait a while , while the 2018 trains still sell before mass producing the 2022 train. The 2020 Passenger Plane is definately retired in official stores, but just like many other products, likely can be found in non official places. Right now there are still Hidden Side or LEGO Movie 2 sets to be found, and those retired years ago. Edited May 8, 2023 by TeriXeri Quote
Izzynufc-2 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Could the plane actually be a cargo plane as the last cargo plane was 10 years ago. But the leaked name could be passenger plane when actual fact it could be a cargo plane Quote

danimarroquin Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 (edited) Hoping to see the new passenger airplane pics soon! Now with the leak of a Concorde coming up soon on the icons line, I wonder if we would get more like a supersonic passenger airplane aircraft in the Lego city line. since now they are refreshing the hole line with new cool ideas, the supersonic kind of concorde-ish or Boeing sonic cruiser aircraft for Lego city doesn't sound that bad at all. moreover, since we are raising the bar on city prices and sets , why not think about a 200-dollar airport set for Christmas, lime green airport fire truck and a airport parking garage doesn't sound that bad guys. TeriXeri Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 (edited) Looking more at the Winter Sports Park, I wonder if it can be converted to a regular Chalet type of build easily. Those 2 slope modules look identical so with some mirror building could be converted to a triangle roof instead of a ski slope. Or a 16 wide shorter slope (the halfpipe end part of the ramp looks to be 2 8x8 modules as well to finish a 16 wide ramp normally) The set still reminds me a lot of the 2018 3 in 1 set 31080: Modular Winter Vacation, which had similar way to change slope into a regular roof, at a smaller scale. TeriXeri Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) Currently still some missing sets on brickmerge (the gap between 60394 Otters and 60398 Family House) Indicated as August release. 60395 Combi Race Cars 362 pieces 60396 Tuning Race Cars 359 pieces 60397 Combi Monster Truck 301 pieces Combi likely indicates it has modular parts in a similar sense of 60389: Custom Car Garage (rougly translated the names from their german names) Sounds a bit like a new unlicensed "Speed Champions" type subtheme within City, with 6 wide customizable cars, perhaps replacing some of the stuntz products in future. I'd be more than happy to see that continue and branch into different kinds of car sets, and frankly there isn't that much more they can do with the Stuntz line (imo), so this would work well as a successor. ks6349 Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 (edited) Do you guy think Lego does deliberately release less of some certain sets even if they are sets from the same time and same price? For example, The vet i.e. 60382 is often out of stock or only left a few, while the tractor i.e. 60390 is readily available. They are of the same theme, same scale and same price. They may have made the same amount of 60390 and 60382, but maybe 60382 sells better than the other, so there is more available of 60390. Or, market research told them to make less of one because it won't sell as well. Which one is accurate, or maybe neither is true? The world will never know! Honestly, it's best not to wonder why TLG does things the way they do. Their approach to selling / designing products can be enough to drive the most reasonable, logical person straight-up insane! I hope this answers your question, @ks6349. Edited May 16, 2023 by Murdoch17 Quote
