It's quite interesting to see how the 2018 Cargo Train seems to be extended to at least mid or end of 2024 now.

But it's understandable that the 2018 set is likely still popular, as imo, it's a better set as a whole, with more play features and better side builds, and also more recognizeable as a "Cargo" locomotive in parts of the world.

The 2018 Cargo Train (60198) is listed as retired on the Lego web site in Australia

I see it's retired in US too, but in Europe, it's still available, and not even listed as "retiring soon".

Unlike the 2018 passenger train (which disappeared from most shops between July and November 2022) , it's also still widely available in at least 15+ online shops in my country.

In comparison, the 2022 cargo train still looks like it has limited production here, which makes sense if the 2018 train is still available in a lot of places.

It's just interesting to see, as it's almost June 1st, the 2022 cargo train has been released almost 1 year now, co-existing with the 2018 train.

Of course this isn't the first time 2 cargo trains are on the market at the same time, the 2014 Cargo and 2015 Heavy Haul trains were both available until 2018 (with the 2014 train being widely available and 2015 train being limited exclusive, not too different from what's happening right now)

Built the Police Academy set today, I like it a lot, especially the system of those 8x8 and 8x16 stackable modules.

I like those 2 plate high 8x8 and 8x16 plates, they feel really sturdy and nicely sized, and the way things are finished with L-shaped plates makes it feel even sturdier.

If there will be more Police sets for 2024, I do hope one of them is a focus on a Prison.

Also with more focus on buildings seperate from vehicles, a proper Crook hideout that's not just filled with police vehicles seems a possibilty again.

Im getting strong futuristic, cyberpunk vibes from  these summer sets. I dont know if it its good or bad thing...

I don't see anything particularly futuristic about most of them, just modern. I mean, skybridges like the one in the new Downtown set have been a thing since at least the 90s, and likewise, building-mounted wind turbines became quite popular in the mid to late 2000s. The Ice Cream Shop wears its 20th-century art deco inspiration on its sleeve, and the Family House has an even more traditional appearance (albeit with some modern technology like solar panels and an EV charging cord). Even the apartment building wouldn't look out-of-place in the city where I currently live, though it's naturally much smaller than any of the ones around here.

The new passenger airplane seems less strictly "realistic" than any of these, but I still wouldn't describe it as "futuristic" — frankly, its closest real-world analogue that I've seen is Boeing's New Large Airplane, a concept airliner from the 90s. And the accompanying shuttle bus is reminiscent of self-driving microshuttles which a growing number of airports have introduced over the past 5 years or so.

It's worth keeping in mind that a lot of the architectural styles associated with Cyberpunk originated in media of the 80s and 90s, and were often merely an extrapolation of the sort of colorful, brightly-lit cityscapes that already existed in real life: places like New York City's Times Square, Tokyo's Shibuya Crossing, and various parts of Hong Kong. What differentiates these cyberpunk settings from their real-life counterparts (aside from sci-fi flourishes like hovercars in place of regular cars or holograms in place of LED billboards) often has less to do with their architecture or design language than with their scale — spreading the visuals of a modern city's most modern and bustling areas across entire metropolitan areas that feel impossibly tall, vast, and densely populated.

As such, the implicit condensed scale of LEGO building tends to flatten or erase some of these distinctions. After all, a four- to six-story building is unremarkable in real life, but feels huge within a typical LEGO cityscape. Still, it's not hard to see a striking difference between the overtly cyberpunk-influenced sets from the Ninjago City range and LEGO City's new Downtown. Ninjago City is perforated by a maze-like array of narrow alleyways, peppered with cramped micro-apartments as evidence of its booming population, riddled with colorful billboards and signs, and studded with high-rise buildings at every corner. The Downtown, on the other hand, largely just feels like a small slice of a modern big-city shopping district.

Found the City magazine yesterday with the 2 construction figures, nice way to get 2 of them outside of a (often 4+) set.

While construction workers are quite common via magazines, not every magazine releases in my country anymore (it used to be 12 a year, but I believe 6 a year since 2020)

The 2022 steam roller build still my favorite magazine gift of recent times, just a genius build.

I rarely pick up magazines anymore , but the ones with 2 figures, or unique builds like that 2022 steamroller are still nice to see , even if the price of magazines nowadays increased to €6,50, which makes online Pick a Brick probably cheaper on big orders (to avoid service/shipping cost), but that takes a lot more time.

Here we would usually have 6-8 magazines a year, now it's 4 a year. The weird thing is that these magazines are sorted randomly(like a translated issue made in 2018, then it's a 2021 issue, it's hard to explain) Since lats year there hasn't been any new magazines

A few years back I occasionally found a random one a few times in Walmart when they still had a large book & magazine section but nothing since they downsized that section to almost nothing.

So….no one mentioend about City advent calendar yet? I think a tiny image is leaked.

I saw it but didn't want to say anything about it. The image shows few things, only thing I could see were the minifigs

I'm not seeing anything in that image really worth commenting about.  Looks like a few generic figs, the obligatory Santa and yet another ice hockey goal.  It's not a very clear image.  The Harry Potter one is pretty sparse and the Star Wars & Marvel ones are very blurry.  The only one that's really clear is the Friends one.

I think that post was taken down?

Please understand that the picture is blurry. Box art has an ice hockey minifigure and a sled believed to have a new animal.

And City sets featuring Lego 2K DRIVE games were also unveiled. There is also a neat image of the airplane.

So looks like the 3 racing sets are a collaboration with the 2kdrive game, all of the sets have a wacky design due to the wacky nature of the game. The sets aren't half bad. When I saw the reveal of the game, something in my head made me think if these sets were related to the game, as they were focused on vehicles and both share tuning and modification features, looks like it was true!

Now we finally have high resolution pictures of the new passenger plane, looks like it has the same features as the 2020 plane but this time the plane has far more seats, 12 to be exact, it also has a TV and a bathroom and a cargo compartment. The 2020 plane had all of this but the seating area was poorly designed. I really like this new plane and I hope we have a nice airport in the near future.

No, the image is not there.I can’t see anything. Just competely blank.

It’s a very blurry image. Has a Santa & ‘Mrs Claus’ up front. There’s a hockey player figure, an ice sculpture being carved by someone with a chainsaw, a girl with a chihuahua dog, another blurry figure that seems to be flying, and a figure that might be a carol singer at the back beside a lamppost. I think there’s an animal beside that one too.

in the distance appears to be Santa’s sled on a rooftop. Almost impossible to make out anything there, but there does seem to be a deer-like animal of some sort pulling the sled.

so it appears to have seven minifigures, and at least two moulded animals.

I really like the plane, it looks like there are a ton of seats for a change. However I'm sick of the 'screw you' LEGO does mostly to City sets in USD. $120 when it's 100 Euro? Nope. Your has taxes included and massive amounts of sales. There is no excuse for yet another set with stupid pricing.

Apparently the 2K Drive sets were officially revealed by Lego:

This is like a dream set to me. The kind of set I literally dream about finding in stores. Just cool, non-licensed sets with amazing colors and no stickers.

These look like they could be Space sets almost! Trans pink AND trans light green windscreens in one set!

This is what I want to see, Lego. Stuff like this!

I’m intrigued to note that the 2K Drive sets use the same system of modular parts and attachments as the Racing Garage and the Emergency Vehicles sets from the first half of 2023. I love the cross-compatibility.

Is there a third 2K Drive set? I’m seeing the red/yellow/blue trio and the green/pink modded vehicles, is there more to come?
