That's why they held off the grocery store and train station like they did back in 2022. Because they know people will want it. So for 2023, which has a lot of goodies being released for the summer, they know that the sets will fly off of the shelves. This is apparently not the case for other countries, but for the US, its a big deal.

What are you talking about? LEGO knows that the sets will fly off the shelf, like a grocery store, so that's why they only made it available for 6 months?

The article says that Europe shops want new sets in June and in the USA stores want them in August. What difference does the release date matter if they are going to 'fly off the shelf'?

We don’t ahve any Great Vehicle sets anymore, right?

Still a lot of them, even when counting just 2023 there are 8 sets tagged great vehicles on Brickset.

  • 60383: Electric Sports Car
  • 60384: Penguin Slushy Van
  • 60385: Construction Digger
  • 60386: Recycling Truck
  • 60387: 4x4 Off-Roader Adventures
  • 60388: Gaming Tournament Truck
  • 60389: Custom Car Garage
  • 60390: Park Tractor

All of them have one thing in common, they aren't fire , police, or medical ,and the main focus is the vehicle as that's literally the set's name.

(exception would be the Garage, but the main focus is still on the 2 cars, as it's not really a garage building)

Also the set numbers are all in numerical order.

There’s sets you could definitely consider “great vehicles” style but the term “great vehicle” has been retired

That. It’s just hard for me to tell me if these sets TeriXeri just mentioend below are considered as great vehicles or not.

Ok, quesiton for you, folks!

is it safe to say that we do hae a new racing subtheme? There are three sets (so far) that are based on the racing video game “Lego 2K Drive”.

If there would be one potential subtheme that's likely a replacement for Stuntz, a 2k Drive subtheme could make a lot of sense.

Physical LEGO sets could release alongside expansions / DLC of the game, as we see with LEGO minecraft still gets new content based on the game's development.

Of course 2k Drive also already has Speed Champions in it as well, but City could be used for the more silly, unlicensed vehicles, as already seen in the upcoming 3 sets being unbranded, and having more fun stuff like propellor/jet cars or taco shooting monster trucks.

That makes a lot of sense to me, seeing as how they must have put some effort into developing the modularity of 60389. I'd be more than happy to see that continue and branch into different kinds of car sets, and frankly there isn't that much more they can do with the Stuntz line (imo), so this would work well as a successor.

An extension of that concept would be fantastic. It’s a really good set as far as I can tell and it’s on my shopping list, Eldorado and the Viking Village come first though.

I haven't yet made a count, but it looks like Lego has released a lot more City sets this summer! I am surprised that airport and passenger plane have come back so fast! The last one was only released in 2020.

All $10 great vehicle sets from 2020 onwards has them. Some 4+ set have them along with some of the polybags. Otherwise, I don't know about any City sets with printed pieces. I wish all City sets had printed pieces. But I know it won't happen.

I was ery delighted when i saw a few printed pieces for $10 Police Car this year. I dunno bout Fire Truck/Engine set,  it would be cool to have a printed logo for it.

And ys, I would love to see most of City sets are free of stickers!

New LEGO City 2-in-1 Pack:
Set: 66768 Value Pack (60376 + 60377)
Pieces: 252
Price: ≈€34.99
Release: August

I'm guessing this will be a European exclusive bundle.  Would be nice if someplace in the US like Costco or Walmart got it.

All $10/$11USD City sets have prints. All 4+ sets have prints. Normally there is a print for a 2x2 tile / slope piece for the City exploring themes, like the Space Port, Arctic and Deep Sea, but I don't know if they are all prints.

Then you have sets that are really weird and have random prints with stickers. Like the Custom Car Garage that has several prints for the spinning thing on the left side in the pictures, but not for the yellow signs or the pieces on the side of the cars, but the tops, those are prints. Really weird.

The 35 Euro is still much cheaper than just 60377 because of LEGO's insulting, downright BS, pricing in the Americas.

I'm more pumped for these sets than any Lego set in a long time:

I just see cool clean designs, no stickers (hopefully), neat colored windscreens, fun combiner gimmicks, nice generic racer minifigs. Ugh. So good.

I’ll probably pick these up, not that overpriced, and some great pieces! Plus the soldier: 76 hairpiece in brown, would be useful for a “realistic” sigfig of me

(I have brown hair in real life, but my sigfig has blonde hair)

Walmart.com has the Farm set for $45, that's the cheapest I have seen it online. Which is funny because it's now the same price, on sale, than it was at release for Europe.

From the reviews of the creator building set for this summer i am convinced not to get it after all because there is no depth to the buildings which means i would have to use additional expenses if i want to make the buildings deeper and for a set with that price tag one shouldnt have to do that. The big city set although $60 more it much more detailed and have deeper rooms and you dont need to spend extra money to make it better because it is fine just as it is so i will be buying that instead. The buildings for the creator theme seemed to have been very much dumbed down a lot the past few years with this years set being the pinnacle of it with most of the buildings being basically just a facade.

I think I might actually get some of those though. I especially like the one with the propellers.

We are almost halfway July! I can’t wait to get my hands on some cool City sets like 2K Drive and Arctic Ocean subthemes and a few cool ones like Car Wash.
