Has someone already bought the Downtown set, any opinions about having it? 

I am about to buy one for a nice price but I wanted to ask for some opinions about the "big boy" of the city theme

Yeah, I went on brickmerge a few hours ago and they revealed the entire list, we're getting bigger and better sets

I've got mixed feelings about this year's City Center:

Exterior: On the one hand it looks very detailed and nicely designed, on the other hand there are too much different architectual styles for my taste. So I would more have liked two completely seperated big houses, each one with a different (only one) architectual style.

Interior: There are rooms which have some very nice and decent interior (pizza hut, barber's shop, hotel room). But there are also ones, which definately lack interior details and wall decorations and therefore look unfinished and empty (comic store, hotel reception, vet, smartphone store, no wall behind the blogger in his room).

Minifigures and accessory: Imo there are enough minifigures and nice and fitting accessory for them.

Vehicles: On the one hand I welcome it that this set isn't overloaded with vehicles like past city centers had been. But one more vehicle like a taxi or a rickshaw would have been nice for the high price.

All in all, my favourite city center til now still is 60097 City Square.

Since it's my favourite 2023 City set (like was the grocery my favourite 2022 City set), this is really a pity.

The advent calendar this year looks stellar. Reminds me of one of the first one’s I got back in 2010. I haven’t bought a calendar since 2013 but might have to this year. The gaming set up, the dinner area, the sign, the lady holding the cande. It is all proper homeley.

This seems mostly like a standard 1HY Fire/Police wave, so which sets I get comes entirely down to execution and whether a given model adds to or fills a gap in my City collection (60412 and 60418 could be nice additions, for example).
The space sets are a different story; barring truly bad designs/juniorisation (which seems unlikely given the PPPs), I am getting all of them. I like the more sci-fi direction that the theme seems to be moving in, with a mech and aliens - A first for LEGO city (not counting the alien head balloon/puppet from the space centre people pack).

Definitely getting one, perhaps even two... Will make one into a A320neo and another one into a MD-90. I haven't figured out how I will modify the engine intakes though. The fans should be inset and not flat mounted at the front.
