firearmsfan Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 --- Pre-Mission --- Ssg. Konrad Thorsen (over phone): Major, we got a new mission. Our 2 agents in the NIC, so Agent Rasmussen and another one that goes by the name of 'Watt' have done some research on a guy called Nils Albertsen, as he and a few other men raided one of our weapon warehouses near the border with Drageid. Turns out he is a terrorist up in the mountains of his country. People them call him 'The Yeti'. He must be stopped, he could have valuable intel we need, or worse. Major Gundersen (over phone): Nils Albertsen... that name seems familiar. He's got a many stains on his criminal record. Erasing them would do it, so you have execute authority. Who's your crew? Ssg. Konrad: Out of my squad, Svensen and Vinter. Rasmussen and Watt will join us too. Major Gundersen: Alright, don't disappoint me. --- Intel --- Drone runs revealed a hidden hatch in the forest that The Yeti seems to frequent. Could eventually lead to an underground bunker or a tunnel system. --- Mission --- Ssg. Thorsen: Alright boys, let's kick this off.20221008_155827 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Watt: It's pitch black in here. Anyone got a flashlight? Cpl. Vinter: Negative. We can't risk getting seen. Rasmussen: Well, crap. Ssg. Thorsen: Shut up and move up! Distant voice: Where... is... the... money! Cpl. Svensen: Must be The Yeti. Any chance he got hostages? Ssg. Thorsen: Probably. That'll only make things wo- Watt: HALT! TRIP MINE!20221008_160055 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Rasmussen: Get back, I've got bomb training! Watt: Let's hope you do... Rasmussen: Ah, alright. Improvised. Poorly done, most probably in a hurry.20221008_160311 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr *click, click, then clicking stops* Rasmussen: Defused. Piece o' cake. Cpl. Vinter: Good job. Let's continue moving, I'm slowly getting tired of all the dirt here! Watt: Hold.20221008_160437 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Voice 1: Ah, so you think you're strong? I guess if beating the truth out of you isn't working, shooting you will! Cpl. Svensen: Goddamnit, he's got a hostage. Move, move, move! Voice 2: HELP! HEEELP! Voice 1: No one can help you now, you fool!20221008_160558 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Watt: ON THE FLOOR, NOW!20221008_160730 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Voice 1: What the- *BANG* Watt: Yeti's down, let's check on the hostage! Hostage: No, no, NO! Don't shoot me! Watt: You're safe now, mate. Calm down.20221008_161103 by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr Hostage: Oh my god, I've seen death with my own eyes! I saw the fricking bullet in the barrel of his gun! Thank you so much! Watt: Are you alright? Hostage: Ugh, I don't know... I think he broke my arm with his baseball bat. Ssg. Thorsen: Wolf 1-5 to Actual, main target is KIA. Prep medical, he had a hostage. --- After Action Report ---aar by Friedrich Huber, on Flickr --- Notes --- I've actually taken those pictures in the dark for the effect of darkness, and it's taken a long time to think of the story. The first scenario was that they find his house up in the hills and wait for him there, the 2nd one was that the squad went to the bar to seize him there, but to be honest, I think that the 3rd one is the most interesting one. Mirror1810 Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Good. I like the storyline. The build itself could have a bit more, but its fine. Some little details like some textured bricks on the wall would have been nice. In the future you should definetly focus more on the build itself, because there is not much to look at here. Still, its fine. Quote
firearmsfan Posted October 8, 2022 Author Posted October 8, 2022 So, you mean like more details and stuff? Got it. The problem is, I don't spend all of my time with my LEGO bricks, and thats why I dont have so many of them, or special ones. Right now, graduating is the most important thing to me. I will try to find a way to make my builds better. Quote
TheBeeze Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Upon investigation after the event, it was found that the raid was conducted on a copycat. The REAL Yeti struck again 2 days later and is still on the lose. In a nutshell, the build had a minimum size requirement not shown in your pictures here. 32x32 minimum. In addition, your entire ground layer used here is not Lego. You can't use third party building bricks. Quote

Is an exception possible? Quote
Feuer Zug Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Hide the baseplates would be my suggestion. Or at least put enough stuff on the baseplates so that you can't really tell. Tiles work well, or build with plates to create the floor. For this build, a rougher texture for the walls and floor would have worked well as an underground hideout. Even more creative, yet piece intensive, would be to build the floor out of bricks turned sideways, then use bricks with studs on the side to connect the various people, furniture, and other items. An example or sorts of the technique can be found here:https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/115569-navy-seabee/ I used the sides of bricks to create the base for my Seabee model and as a means to put text with it. Many people do similar for MILS module roads. For the size, go bigger if you can. The edges of pictures can leave a lot out. If the minimum is 32x32 for a build, I tend to go 40x40 or larger to ensure what I show in the picture fits the requirements. While this may not be possible with your options, at least ensure we see the full 32x32 baseplate. Use all of it for the build and show it. Quote
