With smuggling on the rise, Gorkonnam forces request assistance in rapidly building and deploying checkpoints in urban areas. The PDSRE has exactly such a model designed and a team helps construct them where required. This checkpoint has just been installed at the outskirts of a major rural / urban interface. Local forces work with an advisor to begin the learning and training process.

Utilizing methods learned at the PDSRE border and airports, the Master Sergeant training the Gorkonnam forces shows them how to run an efficient and friendly checkpoint. A cordial greeting and quick check of their papers is often enough. Traffic flows fairly quickly, with little queuing.

The master sergeant quickly becomes suspicious of the farmer bringing his pumpkins to market. Avoiding eye contact, the farmer stammers about his destination and fumbles with his papers.

"Search it!" the sergeant barks.

While holding the farmer, a Gorkonnam soldier jumps in the bed of the truck and begins rooting through the pumpkins. He doesn't have to get far to find more than the farmer claimed to be hauling.

"Weapons!" a gleeful soldier cries, holding up a mortar round and a sub-machine gun.

The PDSRE advisor slams the farmer to the pavement to arrest him. Meanwhile the rest of the soldier are on watch. One of them notices a man hanging out near the fire hydrant, trying to watch them inconspicuously.

Very nice. You know what that reminds me of? Checkpoint Charlie on the once border between the DDR and the BRD. So, great work.

Really great build. I love the small details with the roadblocks and cones. The city street in general is excellent. Good story as well!

Danke. It is modeled on my memories of Checkpoint Charlie. I opted to forego the sandbags and big sign over the shack. It allowed me to add the boom gates for access control.

Thanks. By adding in those small bits, it adds more life to the scene. As for the street, the right side is heavily modified sets that were turned into modular buildings. One is the original Sanctum Sanctorum, and the other is a couple of Friends townhouses. The ones on the right are all fresh builds (with the pizza parlor coming from the leftover backside of Sanctum Sanctorum). The right side buildings are a Potemkin Village setup for this scene.

That's really a nice, vivid town. Cool setting, lots of effort, credible. Well done!

Reminds me a bit of Berlin's Checkpoint Charlie where I have lived close by.

Danke. Checkpoint Charlie served as the inspiration for this build.

Grazi. The modular buildings make it easy to create a customized street scene.
