YG-49 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 The price is atually quite decent. Who knows when the Bored Games come out?
Svelte Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 S@H now updated with: 10197 Fire Brigade - AUD $279.99 - ouch! 6299 Pirates Advent calendar - $39.99 7687 City Advent Calendar - $29.99 8036 Tractor with Trailer - $149.99

Svelte Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I'm surprised that you're surprised! Isn't it about the same ratio as Cafe Corner? (Which I'd rather buy.)I wonder what type of figures these have... I was hoping we'd sneak under the radar and stay at the $AUD250 price point of 10182 and 10185. Boo! I imagine DJs will have it for sale before Xmas The figs are all on the box art for the Advent Calendars. The Pirates ones are just repeats of what we've already got (although noone seems to know what the other little surprises are) and City is the usual generic assortment of shortsighted bearded workmen and a KimT fig. I imagine that the City Advent price will be jacked up by $10 to match last year's price (and the Pirates one) when someone gets round to noticing it.

Svelte Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I'm more wondering if they are the cheap type of figs or the standard. Good point, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I was under the impression that the cheaper figs were limited to pre-assembled sets but I guess it wouldn't surprise me if they were spreading.

If only the winter toy toy shop was up I'd put my order in now. I can't see the advent calendars staying at that price, particularly the city one which is $29.99 in the US as well. As for someone asking about the extras in the pirate calendar, my guess is there won't be too many. The piece count for the pirates calendar is 148 compared to 257 for the city one.

I was under the impression that the cheaper figs were limited to pre-assembled sets but I guess it wouldn't surprise me if they were spreading. ...and this is the problem they have created. Are you listening TLG? By putting cheaper figs in some sets it's hard to predict where they'll turn up next. Thus I won't be for buying any non-core set unless it was reviewed first. Also, I'd return any set that included the cheap figs. It's just not cricket...
I Scream Clone Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Svelte I believe the set number for Tractor ishould be 8063 not Separatist Shuttle 8036. Looks like the Pirate Advent is a bit ho hum.
Svelte Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Svelte I believe the set number for Tractor ishould be 8063 not Separatist Shuttle 8036. Good catch! I like the Advent Calendars, but neither of these appeal. The Castle Advent last year was amazing - exclusive figs, and chock full of all the sweet little accessories and builds that they should put in normal sets but are entirely lacking in things like the Trolls' Mountain Fortress. I'm also downsizing generic City figs so I don't want that one either. I'm a little sad they got rid of the Belville version! Siegfried, I completely agree about the figs. It's a PR disaster waiting to happen. Lego doesn't seem to realise that all the crap they've been churning out (bad parts quality and horribly variable colours) isn't going anywhere - it's just sloshing around in people's collections and BL and will haunt their reputation for a good few years to come. It's like toxic waste - once it's mixed in, it's almost impossible to separate and the overall impression of the company product goes down. Maybe figs will be the tipping point that forces them to clean up their act - let's hope so.
DarthSion Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Ah so that's what it stands for Ripoff Blockade Runner. Think i will wait and see who gets it, the last so called exclusive AT-OT went to kmart, so hopefully bigw might get it.

Siegfried Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Yeah i wasn't expecting the mag yet, just some sort of confirmation they got it. I never got one. sorry, i must have been away for a while... what is cheap vs standard figs? where was this discussed? Look here. Yellow Creator truck 95 as well Thanks! I got it!
Svelte Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I imagine the September issue of Lego Club will be out in the next few weeks. We already got the 'free gift' issue with the Power Miner keychain so I doubt any extra presents. Look here. Sieggy beat me to it! Basically anything with pre-assembled figs - new Chess sets, the battlepacks, magnet sets, Vintage minifig packs, Classic Space bag fig, Pirates Tic-Tac-Toe and (by the looks of it) the Xmas stuff. The printing is off on some, colours are dodgy in others (especially red looks darker and see through) and you can identify the torsos as they have a printed number on the inside of the fig's left arm.

I haven't mentioned 'til now, butn about two months ago when I went to the Gold Coast, TRU was handing out free Obi- Wan CW keychains.
MicroM Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 One of my boys got his LEGO Club magazine today. But no second one for my other boy, who we signed up with the recent BigW promotion. I do remember we were a few days past the date when we sent it off, but I assumed that cut-off date was for the purchase date, not the date you mailed it in. Does anyone know if LEGO will mail 2 or more Club magazines to the same household (obviously different names)? Also went to my local TrU and noticed that all the SW LEGO kits are well over RRP (sorry if been mentioned earlier). Is this something new with them ?? I recall exclusives have always been dearer, but now all regular kits, what gives TrU??? I did see the Home One kit, looks impressive, but at $200, it's staying there (for the time being).
DarthSion Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 If you actually go to the BigW site the pdf order form to join the club is still there, i'm sure they are just slow processing.

I haven't got mine yet though.
Strand Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Also went to my local TrU and noticed that all the SW LEGO kits are well over RRP (sorry if been mentioned earlier). Is this something new with them ?? I recall exclusives have always been dearer, but now all regular kits, what gives TrU??? I did see the Home One kit, looks impressive, but at $200, it's staying there (for the time being). I think this was addressed earlier. TRU will continue to price things their way as long as people are willing to pay for them. Their Twilight was $150, was a piece of crap and hardly anyone bought it, so now it's at $100. While this is fine with most sets where you can probably find cheaper at Kmart etc, it sort of burns when something like Home One is exclusive, yet is $30 more than S@H. Should just wait for sales for these things, though Twilight-scale discounts are probably only for very unpopular exclusives.
DB24 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Kmart's sale is pretty good, i'd check it out if you haven't already. The racer Lamborghini is only $69!
Darth_Legois Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 Kmart's sale is pretty good, i'd check it out if you haven't already. The racer Lamborghini is only $69! When does it end again?
DB24 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 When does it end again? Generally, Kmart sales end weds night.
Darth_Legois Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 Generally, Kmart sales end weds night. That's what I thought but I thought I remembered that someone posted this more then a week ago so I didn't think it'd still be on. That's great, I'm going to kmart now to buy some prizes (for my forum competition)
Hewman Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Target has 20% off all Lego starting Thursday. Here's the first chance to get new castle sets at a discount price and grab any of those pirate sets you missed out on in July.

Ugh, picked up the Temple of Doom set when I went in to pick up my July toy sale layby today (Tax money $$). Oh well, I like the look of the set so I don't really mind I paid an extra $25
