at my kmart, someone stolen all the hats, so all the plushies are hatless. no i didn't steal them... don't think it was such a good idea to make them removable.

these are probably made by the retailers under license from TLG for australia market. not sure if you notice there's also lots of version of the play table and play mat that are not available elsewhere. TRU has it's own version of the play table and play mat... same with big w and kmart.

frankly, i don't like them. the legs are funnily attached to the torso, the hip is missing, the proportions do not match (head too small, body's angle too sharp like a triangle and not trapezoidal, legs are massive like hulk legs). also could use sturdier hats instead (e.g. with cardboard or foam insert).

probably cost them about $2-3 to manufacture in china (it is made in china, i'm not racist!) and sell for $25 or $18 on "sale"! lol...

I might give them a miss then, they don't sound worth tracking down. You're right about the dimensions being off; when I first saw the pics I was kind of on the fence about buying one.

Just a little note to you all that Kmart in Australia are clearing out selected Lego sets including City. The City ones marked down are as follows - 7632 crawler crane $ 40 au

7633 construction site $ 90 au

7636 harvester $ 40 au

I checked three stores in my home city and they were all these prices.

Walking thru my local myers department store my heart stopped. There in a lego display was 3 boxes marked THE EMERALD NIGHT. $149.99 au, of course I am about to start constructing mine. The other two are now gone. Either they were sold or pulled off for next weeks toy sale who knows.

Wow, they aren't wasting time marking that set down! That's a shelf life of all of 3 months. Maybe I better get in to Kmart and snap one up Or maybe I will wait for a 15% off day to boot.

I guess Kmart are clearing out slow movers so they can get ready for 2010 as well as pirates. Besides what I have posted before 8264 technic hauler is now $ 50 and the clone wars mega AT-OT dropship is down to $ 170. A 15% sale would be the icing on the cake.

Thanks lightningtiger for the info on the crane, when I saw the price tag I thought it was a misprint but the set really IS $40. That's 60% off the RRP (Shop @ Home and Toys R Us both want 99.99 for it) which actually makes it worth purchasing.

Also, if anyone is interested, I spotted the pirate shipwreck island in TRU Morley today (based on the box it appears to be a TRU exclusive like the Home One). Cant remember the price but being a TRU exclusive, its bound to be a rip-off :)

No emerald nights at either of the 2 MYER stores I hit today, plenty of stock of just about everything else though (my guess is that the emerald night is being held back until the sale starts so that there isn't a repeat of what happened with the Eiffel Tower earlier in the year)

Guess I got real lucky then with the emerald night (took me half a day to complete). Oh yeah spoke to some salesperson at Myers in Adelaide CBD - toy sale 4th November - Myers TTP said more lego was to be unpacked. Also on Kmart and this is a normal price (NOT on clearance) 7685 City Bulldozer is $ 45 not $ 59.95 like everywhere else.

What actually happened with the Eiffel Towers earlier in the year? When I went to check out the toy sale, there were heaps of Eiffel Towers lying around. Looks like no one really wanted just a sculpture of grey or was it bley? I can't remember...

On another note,

I checked out TRU Parra. They have the Home One up for sale for $160! Go get some tiger!

It might not have been the Eiffel Tower, it may have been another set. I just remember a set that was put out by MYER before the sale (which was in the catalog) but people were buying it before the sale which meant there weren't enough when the sale started.
