d00dz Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Wow. Can they really be gone that fast?!I wanted one! :( Are you in Sydney? If not I might be able to get you one if you want.
Siegfried Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 My Imperial Flagship arrived! For the curious they are still including the extra dress piece. Among other things, I also got the free key ring. It's good timing too as... ...my old one is looking worse for wear. I'll have to try and clean up the poor little guy. Free key-rings on! Kmart at Chatswood Chase has 3 Crane Trucks for sale for $160 each. Gee I'm glad I got mine for $200, not the list price of $300! It is a shame that they are selling the set out so fast though. I wanted one! :( It's a good set. A bargain at $200, and a give away at $160. (Overpriced at $300... ) LOL that is solid gold, I am guessing after reading your sig you are unaware the vast majority of lego pieces are actually made in Mexico. Most for us are made in Eastern Europe. Care to argue about this o respectful one? seasonal items Such as?
Svelte Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Such as? Decorations such as the snow globes, Santa magnet sets, Holiday Candle...
Siegfried Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Decorations such as the snow globes, Santa magnet sets, Holiday Candle... Thanks for the tip. I was considering buying a few of those.
Svelte Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Thanks for the tip. I was considering buying a few of those. I never reviewed it, but the Holiday Candle was like a version of a LEGO set from an alternate dimension where everything was slightly different... and just enough to be slightly uncanny. The polybags were of a different material - much sturdier plastic. The manual was a thick gloss cardboard and clearly printed at a different location from normal - each page was firm and thick, not at all like the flimy sheets we normally get. The box cardboard was very thick too. There were a lot of bricks, too, and they all seemed good quality - although it was slightly disconcerting to see 25 differently printed bricks in one set and 2 2x4 chrome ones It was like a Pod-People version of a LEGO set - close enough to the real thing, but it would never pass more than a cursory inspection. Enjoy your Flagship!
Siegfried Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 The Battle of Endor has returned to S@H... I never reviewed it, but the Holiday Candle was like a version of a LEGO set from an alternate dimension where everything was slightly different... and just enough to be slightly uncanny. I'm lucky then as that was the exact one I was considering! Since my wife also approved the Troll Fortress (I missed that as the sales happened during my move ) I decided to not push my luck. Enjoy your Flagship! How could I not?
d00dz Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I think I'm going to build the Imperial ship then get some perspex from bunnings and box it up. Any ideas/comments on that? This thread seems to be where all the aussies hang out! lol
Whup Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I think I'm going to build the Imperial ship then get some perspex from bunnings and box it up.Any ideas/comments on that? This thread seems to be where all the aussies hang out! lol I had always thought an old worn out/leaky aquarium would make a nice display cabinet for pirate stuff. We've got a bun in the oven now though, so any Lego of mine will be too busy being played with to be displayed I hope! Since I'm new here and can't post a topic yet AFAIK, is it appropriate for me to mention a set I was thinking of selling in this thread? I really want to get one of those Flagships eventually...
d00dz Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I had always thought an old worn out/leaky aquarium would make a nice display cabinet for pirate stuff. Would be heavy though, but as display it should be ok. I just want something like what they have at Myers. Hmmmmmmm *investigates
Hewman Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 The Tantive IV is back at stock on Starwarshop for $US149.99. With $79.99 postage, that still makes it very attractive. You could have it FedExed next week for $AUD250 instead of wait 3 and get it from S@H for $AUD345 If only Starwarshop sold modular houses and other exclusives. Quick, somebody stick a Darth Vader in the Grand Emporium! Svelte, I didn't notice (you obviously did) that the Tantive IV is now $300, wasn't it $280 before? Even if it gets released to a retail store some time with a 20% off sale it's more expensive than ordering it from the US. Does anyone have any news on when Atlantis sets will be released to retailers in Australia?
Svelte Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Does anyone have any news on when Atlantis sets will be released to retailers in Australia? The Club catalogue said March for Atlantis, with new City/ Creator in March and Ben 10/ Prince of Persia in April (from memory). Who knows what the Tantive IV will go for when it hits? If K-Mart has the rights, they may drop it to $200. Or maybe they learned their lesson from the AT-OT madness and will only get a limited quantity in. I think partly what influences these weird Jan price hikes is that they lock in details with Australian retailers for July sales at about this time, so they adjust the price to make the pre-decided sale price look more attractive. Eg 'Was $299! Now $200! looks better than 'Was $280! Now $200' or whatever they decide. Last year in Jan it was the Taj Mahal that jumped by $100 on S@H, and I'm sure that was just because LEGO wouldn't price it any lower and Myer wanted a nice round figure to promote in the catalogue.
lightningtiger Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Some news for everyone, CITY AIRPORT gear is meant to be next month, Luke's Landspeeder no earlier than July and this so called CITY HOUSE might be an exclusive in August. By the way Hewman, our friends at Toy Corner have just got Toy Story and Star Wars January releases in store. That also means Toyworlds and Kmarts might be getting their stocks too.
MicroM Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 The upcoming (from Thursday 21st Jan) catalogue has a few of the new SW and Toy Story kits at "Introductory prices". - The Freeco speeder and Tri Fighter are $38 (price jumps to $48 after the promo) - SW Battle packs + Toy Story army men - $19 ($22 normal price) Must say I'm considering a Freeco at that price....maybe !!
kenny3011 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Is $150 for the 7665 Republic Cruiser too expensive? Or would it be better to put that money towards a Tantive IV when they arrive in Aus?
Siegfried Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Is $150 for the 7665 Republic Cruiser too expensive? Or would it be better to put that money towards a Tantive IV when they arrive in Aus? I like the set, and I paid that for it. It's got better colours and figs than Tantive IV!
Svelte Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 The Republic Cruiser is a great set and brilliant parts pack, but it doesn't really measure up to the 10198 Tantive IV in terms of design sleekness and greebly goodness. It does look a little rough around the edges in comparison. If you're more of an OT fan, I'd be tempted to wait for the Tantive.

Amended! Actually, if you can still get the 7665 for $150, you might as well, since prices are on the up
Siegfried Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Where? Grr I bought 2 of them at Big W already for $43 I just checked. K-Mart, page 8. Amended!
Hewman Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Shop at home now has the city advent calendar for $15 plus some other bargains, like Indi, Mutt, and Spalko magnet set for a ridiculously low $4.25. Also troll battle pack is now $15, if anyone is placing an order and would like to get an extra one and ship it to me, I'll give them $25, just PM me. Plenty of others for sale too like a current agents set half price, and 25% off a fair few power miners sets. Also Target Adelaide had a Spongebob spaceship yesterday, which is a pretty rare find for retail. Thanks to all those that posted details on the K-mart sale. Edited January 19, 2010 by hewman
d00dz Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I just checked. K-Mart, page 8. I cant see it. o.0

Strand Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 If you can find a Republic Cruiser for $150, by all means get it. I was lucky enough to find mine for $120 when TRU was having that sale, but even at RRP, I'd probably still get it. It's a very nice set, looks great on display etc.
