MinifigHQ Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Final bit of info, I have started a LEGO Australian news blog which got featured on Brickset today, very exciting. It is still a work in progress but hoping it can get the stamp of approval from you guys as you are such a good source of Aussie news. If anyone wants to contribute just let me know. Any feedback or ideas are also most welcome! I am trying to get a LEGO store locator and a price comparison search up and running as well. I would include where your getting your info from if reposting information from Lego forums and discussion boards onto your blog.
jonwil Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Hey all, does anyone know if the Target sale ends tomorrow or 26 May? I'm sure it was originally the 26 May but on lasoo.com.au, it is now saying it ends tomorrow. Too early for any minifig bargains! Also I have heard that the Toyworld in Fyshwick, ACT, is selling the minifigs for $2.99 - seems pretty cheap. The address is www.bricksdownunder.com Cheers A full database of all known lego stores, broken down by city/state would be great, as would an up-to-date price comparison database so you can just plug a set into the database and see which store has it the cheapest.
emilyjem Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Thanks for the feedback, I will take it on board. I guess local LEGO news is the main area I'm lacking in, as I'm based in Sydney, so any news or info from other states and towns would be awesome. Just drop me a line if you're interested. But more importantly - MINIFIGS! Has anyone seen them at a non-Toyworld location? I checked Target, K-Mart and Toys R Us today, no luck. Could it be that Toyworld really do have an exclusive?
GI blockage Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Target Leichhardt has 4 fresh boxes of minifigs on the shelves. $3 with current 20% off sale. Normal price $3.75. The signs indicates the 20% off sale ends 26 May. The boxes are up the toy section, not up at the counters. Edited May 20, 2010 by GI blockage
Noodles140 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Tried Toyworld Subiaco (WA) for Minifigs. They had no idea what I was talking about... -Noodles

jonwil Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah, Midland had 2 almost full boxes when I was there today. Not only that, the guy who helped me knew about the bar-codes before I even started looking. Sold me 2 skaters, 1 astronaut, 1 magician and 1 cowboy (which is all I can afford at this time) Whitfords (the only other store I rang before I got to Midland) said "no we dont have stock yet but we will probably be getting in some by the end of the month or so" No sign of the minifigs in the lego isles (or checkout areas) of any of the stores at Midland Gate or Morley Galaria including the TRU at Morley (or anything else new or notable for that matter) My guess is that the Pig Farm will appear at Big W in time for the mid-year Big W sale (similar to how the wind turbine transport appeared last year)
melike75 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I b elieve toyworld isnt sposed to sell them before the catalogue..so i bet theyre just feigning ignorance.. Having said that, out of 1o miniigs i got 3 doubles..magician, spaceman and cavemanwill be my first trades i guess :)
lightningtiger Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Well 'Hewman' was right - Toyworld in the Myer Centre has the minifigs. They are kept in a locked storeroom and only brought out if requested, my son got two Ninja, a cheerleader, zombie and clown - he was very very happy ! $3.99 seems to be the R.R.P., oh and checked two Targets today - NO minifigs there yet ! I'm a conformist! ! Quick edit - I forgot to say - that particular Toyworld only had 1 box ! Edited May 19, 2010 by lightningtiger
d00dz Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 You saved the cheerleader!!! :o Im gonna go into my local Target tommororw and see if they have it. I doubt they will have a clean unopened box. :(
lightningtiger Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 You saved the cheerleader!!! :o It was the first bag he openned, she is a beauty I must say - AWESOME minifig in the flesh so to speak. Many other Toyworlds in SA may have to wait another week to two weeks to get their orders. I'm a conformist! !

With two ninjas, that sounds like the box I had a look through, they did have another unopened box while I was there but I guess they've locked that away for later. Probably a good thing you got two ninjas, a fight of a ninja against any of those others wouldn't be fair.
Turtle Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Just got back from visiting the Toyworld in the Myer Centre in Adelaide with a handful of the lovely little yellow bags full of Lego goodness (They have a box sitting on the counter next to the cash register as you walk inthrough the front door)... Got myself the cheerleader, clown, nurse and the crash test dummy (used the barcodes to find them). The box was perhaps two thirds full and I spotted the barcodes for the tribal hunter, ninja, robot and magician amongst others. If I had had more time and cash I would have tried for them all as I get the impression that they aren't going to be around for long. The woman who served me told me that an elderly woman had come in the day before and bought an entire box of 60... Edited May 20, 2010 by Turtle
eli_77 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Target Macquarie Park (NSW) had 6 boxes of them today up the front where you pay for items (not in the Lego toy section). Unfortunatly the 20% off Lego sale was finished so I had to pay full price. For that new Aussie blog on Lego: maybe a dedicated trade/buy/sell section by state would be good for trading this minifigs (I got a crash dummy that i want to get rid of)
emilyjem Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Good idea about the trade section on the new blog, I will keep it in mind. Just went to Target Leichhardt where there were 6 boxes yesterday - nothing there but an empty shelf. After peering around the back of a lot of shelves I found 2 lone foil packets left! Seems like you've got to be bloody quick around here.

And no doubles of the one's you don't want.

Could it be that Target has an official date when they are supposed to start selling these (chosen by Target corporate) and stores arent supposed to have them on the shelf yet?

No official date but it is possible they may be for a catalogue and stock could be held back for it.. Or they were bought at that price to resell. Edited May 20, 2010 by MinifigHQ
emilyjem Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 A reader emailed me at Bricks Down Under to let me know that there are heaps of upcoming sets listed on the Mr Toys/Toyworld site, with prices and dates. It's practically the whole year's upcoming releases! I put them all in one list here.
YG-49 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Went down to Toyworld today... Without success. Too bad, I had the barcodes ready and everything!
Noodles140 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 WA update - Still searching for the elusive minifigs (Midland is too far for me). I tried Toyworld Claremont (WA) by telephone, they will have Collectible Minifigs earliest next week. I tried Toyworld Fremantle (WA) by telephone, they said they had them in stock. But on arrival they actually only have the boxed Impulse Sets, not the bagged Collectibles. -Noodles
Maverick Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Went to Target today and they had 6 boxes of minifigs. I was able to get my colletion with little hassle and there were others with me who had printed the barcodes as well to compare =p Target had them at $3.75 and 20% off though the discount had to be manually put in.

It's practically the whole year's upcoming releases!I put them all in one list here. Not happy that all the City stuff (fire etc) is an August release :( (lets hope someone like K-mart has them in the June toy sales, if not I may need to order some from across the pond in NZ or something like I did last year with the City Corner and Indiana Jones Cemetery set). Also, does anyone know of an actual release date or a list price for the Grand Emporium? (which is supposedly comming to David Jones). Particularly interested to know if it is likely to be sold for less than Shop @ Home is selling it for. Still no sign of .au release dates for: The 4 new fold-out track Racers sets The red creator sports car Pig Farmer impulse Lamborghini police car
Whittleberry Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) I went to my Target today, and there were no minifigs to be seen anywhere, and the toys department had no idea about them. And although the LEGO sale has finished on their electronic system, there was still a 20% off sign out, so after a lot of hassle I got my POP set for $3.40 less. EDIT: And I bought a K-zone for the Harry Potter tin. It's very nice, a must for LEGO Harry Potter fans! Edited May 20, 2010 by Whittleberry
chibi_joker Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Hi everyone, I can confirm that minifigs are now being sighted in Victoria at Toyworld and Target. Went to Target City today after work and there was me and three other AFOLs (who I did not actually know) spending half an hour sorting through the boxes with our barcodes sheets! It was fun because we were all looking for different things and helped each other out. Target was taking down the 20% off sign, but they were willing to give the 20% off. Super lucky! My friend bought an unopened box at another Target store. But I would like to share this with you. Here's Lego Quality Assurance FAIL for my forestmen, can you see what is different? Sorry quality is from iPhone, my camera is AWOL. Lego Quality Assurance FAIL!
