chibi_joker Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Both the Wizard and the Farme impulses were purchased by MUGS members at Chadston Vic this weekend. Saw them with my own eyes. I think they came from TRU. Yep, looks like these sets are available in TRU around Victoria. I picked up both wizard and farmer impulses from Highpoint last week (race there after work!) thanks to sms from my equally Lego-mad friend who picked them up from his local TRU. No jester impulse set though In other news, over the weekend I went to pick up the Lego Orient Expedition Emperor's Ship MISB I won on eBAY!
MicroM Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 What's the thought on the AT-AT pricing from Shop@Home at $170. Seems pretty reasonable given what has become an almost standard "doubling" of the US price. Seems fair considering the Motorized version still sells at $230, and this has less pieces, though more MF's. Is this another LEGO mistake, or a sign of fairer pricing for us Aussies ???

No jester impulse set though In other news, over the weekend I went to pick up the Lego Orient Expedition Emperor's Ship MISB I won on eBAY! Congrats! I rarely bid on ebay, but put a bid on that ship (I thought it would make a nice addition to my pirate fleet). I'm very happy to lose to someone that is so happy to get it! There were a few (used) Imperial Armada ships on ebay last week. I was very tempted to put a bid on one, but never got around to it. There was one in Adelaide with a starting bid of $99 that didn't sell. For that price though I think I'd be just as happy picking up another Brickbeard's Bounty and try my hand at some mods!
KartoffelViking Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I doubt it....Ingle Farm's fire trucks dropped to 35 bucks.....all gone in less than 24 hours. Only in a while a cancelled layby put back on the shelf might be you only chance. Agreed. I've checked four or five K-marts out since LT posted the $50 on Creator Firetrucks, and there's none left since it dropped to $35. Cannon Hill had 3 others when I got mine @ 50, they were gone 2 days later. So if you've found one still available @ $35, grab it now. The one I'm not sure on is the Farm. Currently $80 from $99, but they don't seem to be shifting very quickly. So there's a chance that it might drop further? Can't speculate on the SW reductions as I don't go for it, but I've seen them still in stock at all K-marts visited so far, so they may drop as well. Thanks for your input. Sounds like I'm too late anyway :-) Next time I see deals like that I'll make sure to strike immediately. I just wanted another one for parts.

Even the re-released 6291 Armada Flagship in MISB condition isn't usually worth much more than $99. Or it wasn't last I checked.
Artanis I Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 For those curious about the new impulse sets becoming available here, the Jester & Wizard arrived with my S@H order. The jester has double printed head and torso, the wizard has one face and no torso printing. Curiously the facial hair is grey, but his beard piece is black or almost black. The 2x2 tile has some interesting text on it, "you are far more powerful than you would ever imagine". The rest you can probably work out from the pictures. Sorry, don't have any photos available. Stupid camera won't focus for close shots. Not bad for getting 1 at $4 or $5, but they're hardly army building sets.

My suspicion is there are two different teams working on pricing, as they are rarely consistent from the Jan wave to summer wave, especially for higher end stuff. Either that or the retailers have more say than is good for them in influencing pricing for exclusives. If there's a reasonable price now, don't worry, there will be a shocker along the way. Look at Endor last year at $US99.99 and $AUD199.99, and Home One for $US109.99 and $AUD179.99. This year, the AT-AT is $US109.99 and is cheaper than either of these at $AUD169.99. If this really is a TRU exclusive they will probably mark it up to $199.99 and then mark it back down again anyway. Incidentally, iqtoys is now listing the 8129 AT-AT at 'in stock' with $AUD169.99 price tag for those that can't wait. They also have the MF ISD (not yet at S@H for Aus) for a jaw-dropping $AUD79.99. The rest of their prices are at retail, and the US price is $39.99 so this wouldn't surprise me if it is the official price. Personally what I'm sick of is that the US and Euro pricepoints have stayed stable for some years but it seems that LEGO decides to chuck an extra $10 or $20 on the price for us just because they can - not just for licenses. Hello new Castle, Public Transport and Portal of Atlantis! Even I've stopped buying from S@H and just wait for stuff to come in store now At least the upcoming Harry Potter sets are very attractively priced - and will be even better during sales

Even I've stopped buying from S@H and just wait for stuff to come in store now At least the upcoming Harry Potter sets are very attractively priced - and will be even better during sales I reckon I saw the RRP of the mid-scale ISD being $79.99 somewhere, if only I could remember where. With the exception of Hogwarts the HP line is well priced compared to US prices, unless it's not the $200 I've heard (still better value than the latest castle though). Edit: This is where I saw it. RRP looks pretty official to me mid scale ISD Edited August 11, 2010 by hewman
Mainee Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Edit: This is where I saw it. RRP looks pretty official to me mid scale ISD Wow - that is just way too expensive.

Waaah, sorry Whup! Yes I'm really happy to get it. My idea is the same, addition to my Pirates collection! I bidded on a MISB one last year when I first got into Lego and didn't realize how much they sell for (didn't know about Bricklink then). I forgot to check eBay and someone won it for $20...lucky lucky. Hope another one will pop up on eBay soon for you. I also bid on the Dragon Fortress but got outbidded at the last minute - I think I'm really going to regret it since it's MISB too but the price was getting out of my budget. Yeah, that price I would get Brickbeard Bounty too!
jamonlego Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 TRU at garden city had the farmer again today $5 (as well as the wizard) - they also had the new star wars AT-AT for $170 - should be cheaper than SOH without the postage and maybee come on special if the upcoming sale delivers the goods lego games are also at TRU

Hello new Castle, Public Transport and Portal of Atlantis! Even I've stopped buying from S@H and just wait for stuff to come in store now Well, their normal response is they charge what the market will bear. My response is to shop via the US, either via a remailer or from Bricklink. Getting the boxes removed can significantly lower the shipping. Even if I can only save a little, at least I'm doing my bit to push back.
lightningtiger Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Hey, BTTW has the city house 8403 for 99 bucks (I beleive when Toyworld gets them they'll be only 69.99) and the huge public transport set for an unreal 219.99....when TRU will have them at around 160 bucks. I guess some people will pay anything to be the first.....eh ? I'm a conformist! everyone !
lightningtiger Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just a quick one for those in Adelaide......Toyworld Norwood is moving to the Marden Shoppiing Centre - openning mid-September........Also AT-AT and Lego games at Gepps Cross TRU plus all the games at Kmart Ingle Farm. I'm a conformist! everyone !
Clone-Trooper Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 To anyone close to a BigW store, I just purchased the following two sets at 50% OFF clearance price...... Star Wars Freeco Speeder 8085 $21.94 each Star Wars Droid Tri-Fighter 8086 $21.94 each I did check other BigW stores but they had the normal $42 shelf price, but there might be other stores around Australia which have the same clearance prices....worth checking.

The Big-W site has both of those sets on sale at the moment for a price of $32.15. So you are still getting a good saving there.

The pictures on Shop@Home had both a printed version and a clean version. Wizard printing: face - 1 side, hat - front, legs+hips - front (I like to call it trousers+undies, superman style) Jester printing: face - 2 sides, torso - 2 sides
Svelte Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Has Myer restocked with new stuff yet? I'm wondering if there's anything good before the Buy 2 Get One Free sale ends Sundee.

Nothing in Myer Adelaide as of yesterday lunch time, I'll check again at lunch time but I'm not holding my breath. I think they might be keeping all the star wars in the stock room until next week.
