alepto Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm not sure if this belongs in its own topic, but I have a question about how stores stock their Lego. My local Target had some boxes of 8265 Front Loader, and the other day I saw all of them sitting together on the ground, in front of the shelf of Lego. Now, they've been taken away and there's no sign of it in the store. It seems unlikely that it was all bought up in a week with no sales on. Assuming they weren't, does anyone have any idea why would they do this? Would they have sent it another store? I was hoping to get one when there's a big sale. According to lasso Lego 20% Target Starts 09 Sep - Ends 15 Sep http://www.lasoo.com.au/search/lego.html?refine=4294924643

Cadder Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) For Brisbanites: TRU at Mt.Gravatt has BOTH the Public Transport AND the TRU truck. The latter I picked up on Friday - what lightningtiger said could be true countrywide: there was a sticker on the shelf saying TRU Truck was $49.99. When I got it to the checkout, it rang up as $59.99. I pointed out the sticker and they issued me a $10 refund. I presume (and it makes sense if) the sticker was a bit of pre-emptive reduced price labelling. The $49.99 is for the yellow truck not the toysrus truck. Same happened to me there was no shelf sticker and I got mine at $49.99 instead of $59.99 I am not sure if they will figure that one out too soon. I thought that too, but they didn't HAVE any of the yellow ones in stock (at least not on the shelves) How much is the Public Transport there? I don't recall. I think it was $139.99 Edited September 6, 2010 by Cadder
TanTile Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) i went to Toys R Us Chadstone on Saturday to pick up the new lego exclusive TRU truck $59 and that transport $159.99 went to the counter brought 3 of the truck and 2 transport sets and the total was?? $499.83 you say?? the chick ask if there was 3 trucks i said yes and i wasn’t watching because i was filling out a VIP form, she says that will be $300 thanks, didnt think anything of it till i was walking out and then looked at the receipt she scanned 5 trucks ….thats it!!!2 transports would have cost more then $300!!i dont know what happened... did they not scan so she just scanned 2 more trucks because she couldnt be bothered to get a price check? no idea all i can say is i got there as the store opened and there was no one else in the store except for about 8 staff, i will not complain!! i was a very happy fellow!! Anonymous Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Just an update. More than a month later I finally got an email confirming my membership from the free lego club deal myer had in June/July if you spent more than $50 dollars. Hope everyone else got theirs.
jonwil Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Has anyone seen the public transport over in the west yet? Might head to TRU on Thursday night (late night shopping) if one of them has it in stock...
lightningtiger Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Just got off the phone with a TRU store, 15th Sept. Catalogue......lots of Lego especially CITY....guy could not tell me much at all. We'll just have to keep asking questions and checking stores, plus the catalogue pages on their web site. I'm a conformist! everyone !
DarthSion Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Are the advent calendars worth getting, is there a SW one?.
lightningtiger Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Are the advent calendars worth getting, is there a SW one?. The Kingdom's one YES, there is NOT an SW one.....but it's a good idea ! Now the City advent I can't say because I haven't purchased one. Note - Toyworld stores are also stocking the Kingdom's advents as well as a few independents too ! I'm a conformist! !
Hewman Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It looks like K-mart are finally discounting the Prince of Persia sets. The Battle of Alamut was down to $99 at my local K-mart in Adelaide tonight. This was the only one they had in stock so I'm not sure if more sets are discounted at other stores.

Laygo Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) Are the advent calendars worth getting, is there a SW one?. The Kingdoms advent calendar set has 8 figures and a bunch of assesories so its pretty good value at $39.95 although we will be selling them to vip members at $35.95 in our store...they are in store now. DarthSion Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Dang SW gets bent over as usual, thanks for the info guys, but pass SW is my only theme.
Hewman Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Dang SW gets bent over as usual, thanks for the info guys, but pass SW is my only theme. The issue with Star Wars is that for it to sell they'd have to put new minifigs in it and every new minifig increases licensing costs. It wouldn't surprise me if they'd have to sell them for $70-$80.
lightningtiger Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Just a quick word today.....tomorrow selected Toyworld stores will have 3221 yellow Lego truck for only 39.99....that's 10 bucks off....I'm a conformist! !
Svelte Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Dang SW gets bent over as usual, thanks for the info guys, but pass SW is my only theme. Yes, that's why SW has 2 wave releases and 2 S@H Exclusives per year amounting to almost 20 sets a year, including the most expensive ones The issue with Star Wars is that for it to sell they'd have to put new minifigs in it and every new minifig increases licensing costs. It wouldn't surprise me if they'd have to sell them for $70-$80. Just buy 3 magnet sets and stick them in a stocking with a few blasters and crates. The price is the same and in a normal Advent Calendar you get 8 or 9 figs anyway at most with small accessories. Are you doing your own again this year hewman?

Yes I am, although I've just bought the kingdoms one, and am going to take the jester and wizard out of the one I made up and add them to the kingdoms one, along with the $18 set to give me 13 figs plus a skeleton. Once my home made one is complete I'll put a link to it in my sig. Although it won't be as good as last years in terms of value as I've included quite a few collectible minifigs. For those that are interested, last year's is here
DarthSion Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Rubbish throw in a couple of clones, droids, troopers, or rebels, then have a few micro sets, bobs your uncle sweet advent calendar.
Hewman Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Rubbish throw in a couple of clones, droids, troopers, or rebels, then have a few micro sets, bobs your uncle sweet advent calendar. OK, probably straying off topic, maybe it's better discussed in a star wars thread. I just saw plenty of the large castle set in target and a quick calculation shows it's almost 25% off RRP once the sale starts tomorrow, so even better than the 20% off the rest of the Lego. Given they had the games in with the Lego I assume they're 20% off too, so for anyone that couldn't grab one at Myer, this mightbe your chance. I saw Creationary and a few others but no Harry Potter game.
Artanis I Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Target had plenty of all the standard Kingdoms sets, new Atlantis and heaps of other stuff I take little notice of. Creationary all gone, but the other 8 I saw before (including Hogwarts) were still there. Still no sign of minifigs - I reckon either we never got any or some barstool grabbed 'em all when they came in. Toyworld had a dozen or so of the Kingdoms Advent, new Atlantis plus everything that was there before. Couldn't find any games despite seeing someone walk out with one. No return of minifigs since the 1 time I saw them when they first appeared. No-one else had anything interesting. Might grab an advent calendar, if there's any left later on. Not particularly interested, but it looks okay.
melike75 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I saw a ton of games at Toyworld Beeliar and Big W at Gateway. Which are the recommended games btw? Are there any reviews on the forum?
MicroM Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I saw a ton of games at Toyworld Beeliar and Big W at Gateway. Which are the recommended games btw? Are there any reviews on the forum? I've only picked one game up so far, Robo Champ. And for $15 it was a pretty entertaining game. I'm keen to get that Lunar Command game, but it appears to be the one game that hasn't hit retail aw yet.

I thought there was one clear winner with regards to what to get. Will have to do sone research. 15$ is alright. I thought they were more around the 40$ mark..
jonwil Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 20% off at Target applies to all LEGO including the games. Inaloo had a fair bit of stock including quite a few copies of the Hogwarts game. (but none of the World Racers Jagged Jaws Reef which I wanted :( ) STILL no sign of the Public Transport here in the west. TRU at Inaloo had pretty much EVERYTHING else including the TRU truck plus a bunch of empty shelves (and unopened boxes) at the front of the store. (none of the unopened boxes were big enough to be the public transport) Did notice a LOT of the City Garage sets though None of the other 3 TRUs had the public transport (the guy at Inaloo looked up on the computer and then rung the other stores to confirm that they had no stock) The person on the phone at Morley (the only store I was able to ring up during my lunch break before my phone died) said something like "we dont have it in stock but its in the next catalog so we will have stock by then" (which I assume means its in the 15th September catalog reported on earlier in the thread
lightningtiger Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Gepps Cross TRU only had one public transport left this morning, no TRU truck yet, only seen at the Adelaide Rundle Mall store. I have been told that this will be a huge Lego promo at TRU, I guess we will have to wait until the 15th to see how huge eh ? I'm a conformist! !
