Can anyone in Sydney post if they have seen the Harry Potter LEGO?

I have a little girl with a birthday over the long weekend who has been eagerly awaiting these. Boxes of exciting rattling bricks would make a much better present than a raincheck!

Even worth paying RRP for, although that is anathema to this thread!

A couple of them aren't bad value at full retail (don't tell anyone but I'm going to look for Dobby's release after work and maybe pay full price!). If no-one from Sydney can't point you in the right direction, try Target, it seems to be the only place anyone has spotted them in other cities.

Thanks for the advice! I'm happy to report a Sydney sighting myself now:

Target Miranda (Sydney) does not have them as of this afternoon, but...

Toys 'r' Us Miranda has them!

Now about to scan them to see if TRU does their annoying thing of marking up RRP... Will edit this post if they do.

Edit: scanned at RRP. Phew. I'm sure me buying LEGO at RRP will guarantee there's a 20% off sale somewhere next week though!

Good news on the HP sightings.

Now the question is, do I buy them now or wait for a sale...

Anyone know if k-mart or bigw (or anyone else) is likely to have these at below RRP?

May I suggest goto a shop put it on layby at full price, you get 8 weeks to pay it off. You don't actually need to make a payment at all during those 8 weeks.

When a sale comes up 20% off or discounted HP set prices, go into the store to the layby counter and ask for a price match on your layby. You will need to pay the layby out in full, but then you goto the front desk and they refund to the discounted price. That way if the sale comes along and all the big HP sets are gone when you arrive, you go off to Layby and you get it at that price. If there is not a sale in that 8 weeks leave it another 2 weeks because really you get 10 weeks but they won't tell you that.

If still no sale either pay full price or get your deposit back and forfeit the $2.50 layby fee.

I got the new Kingdom stuff this way and some trains.

PS: I don't know if MYER do this so please ask there first but Big W and Westfarmers stores do!

Haha! As if by coincidence, starting on the 7th, Target is having a 20% off all LEGO sale. There are some exceptions though, Buzz's spaceship (TS) is 50% off ($30)and Cad Bane's Speeder (you heard right) is $70 instead of $90 (as an introductory offer)

YG-49, you're a legend. Myer has 20% off lego today and tomorrow but since I know the HP sets will be at Target, you've saved me a trip to the crazily busy shopping centre with the closest Myer to me, and I can drive two minutes to my local target and pick them up next week. Thanks!

Harry Potter Sets were put out in last nights night fill at Big W stores. I'm not too sure if all stores did but the one I work for did. If you are desperate, this is the place to get them as they are under RRP. I'm not a HP fan myself, but the boxes they come in are magnificent, real heavy duty unlike the paper boxes of Toy Story. The sets don't look too bad to be honest, I enjoyed wasting 20 mins looking at them. This is NSW news BTW.

BIGW @QV melbourne had about 20 each jester/wizard/"pig farmer"/"atlantis diver" this morning ($4.88 each).... And for those in the doncaster (kinda) area toyworld @ forest hills had some new boxes of minifigs v2. (limit 12 per customer)

MyerOne members should be getting a docket in the mail that lets you get a further 10% off the already reduced prices there.

Also I thought I'd have a pricing whine - has anyone realised that at $230, the Australian price for the passenger train is $30 more than the Swedish price? Yes, the SWEDISH PRICE! Goodness me, I don't know what the world is coming too. Luckily, the MyerOne offer brings the train down to almost $150.

If you can still find one, Woody's Round up is only $33 in Kmart, down from an already reduced $39. Lucky for me I found one tonight in a store where there were none a month ago...

*huh* I got a second for $40; I thought that was good!

At $33, that set would be worth it for the brown alone (if you can find somewhere that still has one and if you like brown more than I do)

Me, I am hoping I can find a Target come Thursday that has the HP sets in stock (and can decide which set(s) to buy first)

Any advice on which HP sets I should consider buying first given that I am potentially interested in the castle, burrow, hut and train (and not the dobies release or the quidditch match) and given the target normal price vs the 20% off price?

Also, what are the chances that Target is going to specifically remove the stock from the shelves from the duration of the sale (as has happened in the past for other sets)?

Read Post #4253. I tell how I get the stock and then get it discounted. Ensures you don't miss out n the special price!

Does that still work? I heard they no longer allowed that trick?

For those interested HP now in Victorian BigW ( melb/qv) freeing dobby 13.74, quidditch 27.67. Cheaper than target ( of course) but not quite 20% cheaper:( (though in my opinion 13.74 for 3 minifigs and a nice little collection of bricks ) is not bad vallue! Considering if it was SW it would be around 19:)

I guess because of the 20% off it's worth considering the most expensive set first, though the cheaper sets may sell out faster.

I was at my local k-mart (Firle, SA) tonight and there were two copies of the biggest Prince of Persia set for $80. If you don't own it, I thoroughly recommend it even if you have no interest in Prince of Persia, it's an absolutely beautiful set.
