Notorious Guf Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Not sure who does pricing at fishpond.com, but it's a real lottery. Like they have the Dropship / AT-OT combo slashed to $399, and the 8129 AT-AT is down to $229, and if you missed out on the 7676 Republic Gunship don't despair, they have it in stock, ready to ship in 6-10 days (though if you've used fp before you'll realize their time estimates might actually be in dog years not human) for the grate price of $345. Oh and if you do use them, hopoe you werernt hoping for Mint boxes, the last order I received was basically the Lego box wrapped in brown paper the perfect recipe for a crushed box. That's good to know as I was considering buying something, but like my boxes to be Mint! What I don't understand is, are you buying from Fishpond as a online store or are you buying from someone selling through Fishpond? or is that a lottery too?
Hewman Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 For those in Adelaide, Toys R Us at Tea Tree Plus had a heap of the exclusive AT-ATs but they're up very high so unless you're 6 foot 6 or are prepared to do some climbing they'll be hard to reach, but with 20% off with voucher this weekend it would be worth it (note, this store has no vouchers outside shop so you'll have to print off). Also on the upper shelf was a couple Indiana Jones Venice canal chase sets, and on the clearance table was the big power miners set featured in the Clutch powers movie (set 8709) for just $80 although the box has a little damage (no obvious signs of tampering though). Oh, collectible figs are almost impossible to search through, basically you need to queue to buy something and go through them as your items are being scanned) Toy Corner across the road are continuing their 15% off sale but seeing anything that isn't currently available everywhere tends to be marked up a fair bit, there aren't a lot of bargains, although they had two kingdoms advent calendars and they do have a bunch of older impulse sets at $5.99 before discount. Hopefully this helps someone get something they've been having trouble finding.
MicroM Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 That's good to know as I was considering buying something, but like my boxes to be Mint! What I don't understand is, are you buying from Fishpond as a online store or are you buying from someone selling through Fishpond? or is that a lottery too? I'm pretty sure you are buying from fishpond, but it seems they source the stock once you buy the item. Its fair to say most I've bought through them has had a serious delay over the "advertised" delivery time. And I do think on certain instances they don't end up getting the item (which I assume means they couldn't get it). They used to charge you up front and then issue store credits if the items didn't come in, but my last series of orders they only charged once the goods were delivered, and that is clearly stated as their policy. Basically they offer some good prices on selected items from time to time, but be prepared for delays and also be prepared for the packaging to be on the cheap side (although I have had some good experiences where they've really packed the items very well).
jonwil Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Anyone in Perth who wants Figures series 2, Target in Midland has good stock on the shelf in the LEGO section. No full boxes but something like 3 partial boxes.
darkhorse Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 For those who want the Grand Emporium, BUY IT NOW. The David Jones in Perth had 2 in stock, both of which were bought by other local AFOLs (I was there at the time but couldn't afford to buy one after having bought all 6 HP sets and the others had the money so I let them take the 2 sets) The guy at DJs said "the 2 on the shelf are all we have and its unlikely we will be getting any more in". Whether David Jones only orders small amounts of these sets or (more likely) LEGO only gives them small amounts of stock I dont know. So if you are in Perth, dont bother trying to find one locally as there are none left. If you are in the eastern states and can still find stock (and are willing to pay the $250 RRP) BUY IT NOW and dont wait as you will regret it. And there was me thinking that Melbourne DJ's might get more stock than Brisbane on account of higher population. Well, they're not going to need to reduce them because they can't shift stock, are they? So is that it for local Emporiums? No-one else stocking them and S@H and/or Bricklink being the options now? Also, the Winter Toystore & Winter Bakery sets - are these S@H only (and some Bricklink)? Has anyone heard anything about them being sourced in local stores?
lightningtiger Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Dam it, Lego are handing out 8403 City House sets with an eyedropper, Toyworld Harbourtown - ONE at 69.99, it's the only one I have seen and if I got the money in the next two days - it will be mine ! I hope ! I'm a conformist! everyone !
jonwil Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) Went to Toyworld Midland yesterday to look for the house and they were CLOSED :( Most of the Toyworlds around here are hard to get to :( Wouldn't surprise me if LEGO corporate is only allocating small quantities of this set to Australia and redirecting supplies to other countries (it may only have had a small initial production run too with production time being allocated to more important things like Hero Factory and Harry Potter) Edited October 17, 2010 by jonwil
emancipist007 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 For Sydney news, no Emporium's in Parramatta DJ's. One remaining in Castle Hill DJ's (as I took the other) and a couple of Fire Stations. Took the option at full retail price, as modular houses are those sets I never want to miss (otherwise pay shipping...) I got mine from Castle Hill too. Looks like I'm the guy who got "the other one":P
lightningtiger Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 G'day everyone, TRU are putting the city fire fighting range on sale....20% off. No other sales from Target, Kmart or BigW this week ! Keep on shopping !
slopemodified Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) Kmart had the Impulse sets for $2, not sure which ones, only saw the tag. There weren't any left for me to grab :( Other things I saw at Kmart Cannington, WA: 7570 PoP Ostrich Race $15 7591 TS Construct-a-Zurg $15 6193 Castle Building set $8 Edit - Kmart Booragoon 8401 City Minifig Collection $10 Edited October 20, 2010 by slopemodified

I seem to recall some disappointment during the July sale that the sale price was $299, so this might represent a better price for those after the SW theme?

I saw some of those in stock, didn't think it was worth taking note of, since I didn't know the original price. Also, 7641 City Corner - $88 (not sure if there's any saving, just saw the yellow tag) Edited October 20, 2010 by slopemodified
Clone-Trooper Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Something I noticed at Wynnum K-Mart today (although they didn't have any stock, just a gap) - 10198 Tantive IV with a yellow clearance sticker of $229. I seem to recall some disappointment during the July sale that the sale price was $299, so this might represent a better price for those after the SW theme? Not sure if this clearance is at every K-Mart store but my local K-Mart has the 2010 Impulse Packs line at clearance price for $2 dollars. I only managed to get x1 (Atlantis Sea Jet 8072) as the whole shelf had already been raided.
lightningtiger Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Finally after almost 3 months waiting.....I now have City House......but it was 79.99 at Toyworld Parafield....oh dear - wasn't expecting 10 bucks more but ah, well......I'm a conformist! !
slopemodified Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 8087 Tie Defender at Kmart should now be $40.
jonwil Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I picked up the City House from Toyworld in Claremont today with a price tag of $59.99 (that is $10 less than RRP). Both Fremantle and Subiaco also had stock but Claremont was the store that was open late enough for me to get there after work. Given the report from elsewhere that its being sold at some stores for $10 above RRP, my suggestion is to call all the stores you are in a position to get to and see who has it at the best price. Also, David Jones (Karryinup anyway) had 2 Atlantis activity books, one came with a shark-head minifig and the other one had a squid figure.
Hewman Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Two days only at Myer (for Myer One members I assume). Get $25 off toys for every $75 you spend in one transaction. That's a nice saving on the Hogwarts Castle or any other $150 plus set.
