Anonymous Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 LEGO® Minifigures Series 3 are now on S@H for AUD 4.99 Us Aussies are getting ripped off again. Series 3 S@H Same price as an impulse set but made in China ....... In other news the new Community Minifigure Set and Fairytale and Historic Minifigure Sets have dropped from $98.75 to $67.99
jonwil Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) Has anyone seen any 2011 product in the west yet? Also, does anyone know of a way to get product from the US that doesn't involve: A.Paying for 2 lots of shipping (shipping from Shop @ Home USA to somewhere in the US then shipping to .AU) B.Paying to ship all that air (i.e. somewhere that will repack the items as small as possible without damage) and C.Paying by PayPal (who I refuse to use due to past bad experiences) So someone who can walk into a retail store in the USA and buy product, repackage it smaller and ship it to Australia who can accept either VISA or a bank transfer into a .AU bank account. I suspect what I want doesn't exist though :( Edited January 1, 2011 by jonwil

I suspect what I want doesn't exist though :( Ahhhhhh, jonwil...... you certainly dream the dream...... I don't blame you because what you propose many of us would want. Certainly can't be hard to do but lets live in reality and just admit that most people overseas wouldn't go to those extreme's and offer you exacutly what you'd want, that would just be the perfect customer service and that never happens. I think we have a better chance of Lego dropping their prices (here in Australia) to match US prices.............. (slim to **** all) But I do hope you find something close.
Hemish Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Sounds like you need a US trade buddy I got a mate of mine in the US to pick me up MMV and Firestation and repack it and send it over All up it cost me just one $330 AUS I dont know how you will go about the no paypal thing, it seems to be the payment option of choice these days I dont think the lego shops charge for shipping to US address either so you dont get stung twice The postage on mine was $80Us and with the dollar where it is now we might do it again soon Diagon Alley I'm looking at you
craym0nk Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Okay, now is the time to panic......Kmart....yes, Kmart has gone silly again (must have forgotten to take their med's eh ? )......clearing out Harry Potter.....yes, HP.....are they mad ????? Freeing Dobby only 9 bucks ! Hogwarts Express only 79 bucks ! The Burrows (if you can find it) only 65 bucks ! These prices were at the Firle SA branch......by the way Tantive IV only $ 169 now and reasonable stock of all but The Burrows (sold out at Firle). No sign or information on 2011 sets yet.......keep on after-Christmas shopping ! Went in to my local to grab the Hogwarts Express & Tantive IV but I was annoyed that they mark these items as "Clearance" rather than just being a sale price, so I wasn't able to lay-by. What a stupid rule, it's like they don't want my money. Ended up grabbing both anyway, prices too good to miss, not sure how I'll explain it to wifey. o_0 This was Kardinya Kmart in WA by the way, the Express was the only Harry Potter set left on the shelves, probably another 4-5 Tantives. The other clearance stuff didn't seem that well discounted. Happy new year AFOLs, fingers crossed for even more bargains in 2011 (this habit is getting out of control) and thanks for all your input into my absolute favorite thread on the board.
KartoffelViking Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 [snip] So someone who can walk into a retail store in the USA and buy product, repackage it smaller and ship it to Australia who can accept either VISA or a bank transfer into a .AU bank account. I suspect what I want doesn't exist though :( Sounds like you may want to contact asharerin and see if he can help you out. [snip] I think we have a better chance of Lego dropping their prices (here in Australia) to match US prices.............. (slim to **** all)[snip] I'm actually hoping for a price drop (no idea how much, though) this year. My local Targets/Kmarts/Big Ws seem to be reducing shelf space for LEGO, and filling up the old shelf space with megablocks and cobi etc., so hopefully there may be some healthy competition that will benefit us. Otherwise I'll just stick to buying when LEGO is on sale. LEGO® Minifigures Series 3 are now on S@H for AUD 4.99 Us Aussies are getting ripped off again. Series 3 S@H Same price as an impulse set but made in China ....... In other news the new Community Minifigure Set and Fairytale and Historic Minifigure Sets have dropped from $98.75 to $67.99 Great news (apart from the series 3 price increase), with a bit of luck that means series 3 might be on the shelves on Monday. But $5... LEGO must be rubbing their hands.
TeufelHund Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) I just ordered the 3 Pharaoh's Quest sets I wanted (Golden Staff Guardians, Flying Mummy Attack and Scorpion Pyramid) from Barnes & Noble for a total of AUD$140 delivered via air mail - not too shabby considering the Pyramid alone is listed on S@H for AUD$159.95 *excluding* postage. If this works out they'll be my new destination of choice for new sets. They had the new Star Wars sets listed as well but I'm an OT fan so there's nothing there for me. Thanks for the tip, TH. I've just lashed out on each of the architecture sets they had plus a few other things, even with express airmail I'm way ahead. Incredibly I saw the Falling Water set on sale that Japanese chain bookshop, starting with 'K' in the Galleries of Vic building in Sydney, for the astronomical price of $299.95. Paid $72 at B&N. This is my first international LEGO purchase, it may be the start of many. :classic: Edited January 1, 2011 by AussieJimbo

Just the regular 2010 sets, and not many of them either. If i may ask, how did you find them?

Looks like you have to search for "Pharaoh's Quest" to get them listed (http://productsearch.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.aspx?store=TOY&WRD=pharaoh%27s+quest&ugrp=1), but when I did this a few mintues ago it also said "A new copy is not available from Barnes & Noble.com at this time." Bummer, cause I'm also looking forward to these sets, but hopefully they will be available again soon. Looks like some sets are also available to order from Fishpond.com, although it's rather expensive. Edited January 1, 2011 by KartoffelViking
jonwil Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 No sign of anything new in the west yet. No new product at DJs/MYER/Target in the CBD or at Target/K-Mart/Big W in Joondalup. MYER did have 3 or 4 Imperial Flagships on the shelf though if anyone still wants one of those. With product available in the east, it cant be that long before it appears over here :)

I just typed "Lego Pharaoh's Quest" - I just tried the links from my order and they no longer lead anywhere (although my order is still there and my Credit card has been charged). Maybe they've already run out of their allocation and removed them from the site? Or you had to preorder prior to the end of 2010? I just did a search for Lego Pirates of the Carribbean and you can still order those if you want (although given the lack of imagery you're taking a bit of a plunge if you do). And as regards Fishpond - Ahahahaha, no. Last time i ordered from them it took an age, and was packaged really poorly. It would take a pretty massive bargin from them to get me to go back there. And thier pricing on Lego atm is rather ridiculous. LEGO must be rubbing their hands. Yep, as the AUD gets stronger, we get gouged even more. Real classy move by LEGO.
Gabe Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Hi all; Found some bargins on "only online" dot com: SW Clone turbo tank $150 SW Venetor class republic attack cruiser $130 Space Police Galactic enforcer $80 (perhaps for those who missed the recent Catch of the Day deal?) link is here: http://www.oo.com.au/lego-building-blocks-toys_C1564.cfm
Brickus Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Found the 2011 Police Station at Myer today, RRP though.
lostdriveway Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Found the small Ninjago figures today at both Target and KMart here on the Gold Coast. No good sales to speak of. Kmart did have the HP stuff on clearance which has already been discussed.
slopemodified Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 For those in Perth: Toyworld in Success just sent me a flyer saying they are having a "25-50% off everything" sale. Started today, ends on Thursday the 6th. The fine print: Offer valid on floor stock only, only cash or credit card payments, no layby, no rainchecks, applies to full price items only. I'll be checking this out tomorrow!

TheDarkness Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Was over in Bali when it came up that K-Mart had reduced the Tantive to $169, I thought I would miss out. Went in today to see plenty on the shelf, in fact all the Lego was fully stocked, a rare suprise in itself! Anyway, not sure if it has been posted but S@H has the 10215 Obi-Wans Jedi Starfighter UCS for $122.49. Still overpriced IMO, but it is discounted from the $714.99 RRP

The only thing that got 50% off was some skateboard. Anyway, saw some Agents (8968, 8969, 8970, 8971), Space Police (5969, 5973, 5985), Star Wars, Belville, City, Power Miners (8964, 8191), Technic (8049, 8052, 8053) Toy Story (7592, 7597, 7789) and games left.
