distortme Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hit Myer - most stuff there but got the second last Falcon. Didn't see any Tower Bridges but did see 2 Flagships. Grabbed Falcon, Sith Speeder, Republic Frigate, Ewok Attack and Geonosis Fighter. All 20% + 10% with 3 months interest free + 2 free Lego Clubs. Over a $200 savings on Aussie RRP - pretty good actually! Can't justify the Darth Maul ship as it's $50US so that'll await B&N probably.
Pennas2000 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 In regards to my own question about whether Target will have the same pre-layby system as KMart, the answer is apparently yes. They just sent me an email to say I can pre-order as of next Wednesday 29th June. Same sort of system : pre-order online and then complete the layby process in store. Diagon Alley here I come! yay! God I hope so. All stores should do this.
Delta 38 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Wow, the Space Shuttle for $130 sounds pretty good. I have the smaller City version, but I wonder if I should get it, though that might ruin my Alien Conquest/Ninjago budget.

One of the rare non SW new sets I have.
Outer Rim Trading Co. Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The old one has been discontinued because it fell apart in some instances and there is now a Service Pack I believe to fix it. Lego have also changed it slightly to drop the build age because there is a lot of interest. Mine (original) is still solid probably due to lack of swooshing :) Mine is still sitting happily on the launch pad. It also has to deal with a very large cat that likes to jump past it every now and then. Thankfully the worst it has suffered is the tail fin falling off...
Brickus Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Well, got the Excavator, Hillside House and switch tracks, today from Myer, I also got two of the bags, they were giving away. I don't think I got the right Lego Club membership, last year the price was crossed out, the sheet I got today was the regular one. I got one last year and I just wanted to know if the membership lasts one year or continues after the first year? I was $30 short on getting the Shuttle, maybe next week.
aztec Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The Imperial Flagship didn't last long. Myer Castle Towers, Parramatta and Blacktown are all out of stock (I picked up the last one at Blacktown). Tons of Tower Bridges though..
jonwil Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 For those in the west, plenty of flagships, tower bridges, creator and everything else at both Perth City and Garden City. Garden City had a pile of Emerald Nights left. No sign of any sort n store heads though (whether I missed seeing them or whether they sold out extremely fast I dont know). Only other thing I noticed limited/no stocks of were some of the large Star Wars sets like the falcon and republic frigate. K-Mart in Garden City had the shuttle on the shelf already. Not sure if the shuttle is worth buying at that price or not given that I already own the previous Space Shuttle Discovery from a few years back. Looks like my next purchase will be the PQ Golden Staff Guardians (if/when I can find one) plus the Diagon Alley and new HP at Target. Anyone who has any interest whatsoever in the Emerald Night should definatly check all the MYER stores they are able to get to, if your store has any left, this price is the best you are likely to see unless you score a major deal from Bricklink or something.

KartoffelViking Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 If the Shuttle Expedition is $130 this week already, can we expect to get it for a bit cheaper when Kmart's toy sale starts next week?
kevin67 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I picked up a MF and Train set from Myer Hornsby this afternoon. When I left [2pm] they still had a MF, Republic Frigate, Motorised Excavator and City Passenger Train plus 6 Tower Bridges and 4 Imperial Flagships.
lostdriveway Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I wish my Myer (Pacific Fair) still had some Emerald Nights left... I grabbed the only one they had just after Christmas but would totally buy another one... are they still $149?
jonwil Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Yep, still at 149 (less the 20% off for the sale and then 10% off if you have MYER one)
Strand Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Anyone know how often Myer restocks? Thinking about picking up a Falcon but I'm positive the CBD would be cleaned out. Any suggestions other than simply calling beforehand?

Any suggestions other than simply calling beforehand? Online from myer. Downside, you have to wait to get it, $8 delivery and I have no idea how well they package. Upside, much less hassle than ringing and shopping around.
slopemodified Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) I'm trying to decide between the Imperial Flagship and the Queen Anne's Revenge. I'd like the Queen Anne for the figs, but the Flagship seems to have lots of detail. Any thoughts on this conundrum? Wasn't there a thread where I could pose a "Which set should I buy?" question? I couldn't find it after a quick search. For those in the west, plenty of flagships, tower bridges, creator and everything else at both Perth City and Garden City. I'd like the Queen Anne for the figs, but the Flagship seems to have lots of detail. Any thoughts on this conundrum? Buy the Flagship IMO. I just picked mine up today - so haven't built it yet - but it looks a lot more detailed than my QAR (which I do like), and is only going to get harder to come by short of importing. The set is 1.5 years old now, approx, so I don't know how much longer it will stick around? In comparison, QAR is newer, but also remember that the Myer "sale" price is actually dearer than Big W's every day shelf price for QAR. Big W sell it for $147 every day. Factor in the 10% bonus if you are a Myer One member and they come out a little cheaper, but my point is you can pick up a QAR for $147 any time you like. In terms of which is the better ship, IF looks far more detailed, for example with my QAR I was disappointed that it doesn't have an upper and lower deck - the hull is "hollow" in that the sides of the ship are like walls while the deck is right down the bottom. It isn't a problem really, but an upper deck would have been nice. IF delivers this - but on the flipside, I really like the minifigs and the decorations on the QAR (the bones, the lantern at the back etc.)

If you post there I'll try to post a useful opinion. I'm not in Perth but PotC sets are everywhere, even at sale prices I wouldn't expect them to be sold out yet.

But seeing the two side-by-side, you won't make the mistake of thinking the flagship is the toy. It looks like a million bucks. It really is a beautiful set from Lego (one of their finest) and comes with enough pieces for you to build your own vessels. Plus, I'm not sure it'll ever be cheaper.
jonwil Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Did you happen to see any POTC sets available? Plenty of POTC at Perth CBD when I was there yesterday. Not so much at Garden City (no ships or London Escapes)
TeufelHund Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I picked up my QAR today from Myer but the idiot shop assistant tore off the hold ticket so quickly she tore a sizeable chunk out of the top of the box...not a big deal I guess but annoying if I ever end up wanting to sell it. I toyed with buying Ewok Attack as well but that tree is just so hideous I couldn't bring myself to do it even for $34...
lightningtiger Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Oh, if anyone is planning to buy either the winter toy shop or bakery - do it now, because Toyworld stores can not buy in any more......hopefully Lego has put enough aside for the other independents to have....hope !
Hewman Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 It looks like the market has finally determined an acceptable price for the Queen Anne's Revenge in Australia. I just popped into Adelaide Myer and there were none left. People are obviously happy to pay in the $130s for it, although Myer hardly moved any and Target moved very few when they were around $150. Myer were also out of Imperial Flagships, Tower Bridges (if they got any in) but plenty of that giant yellow technic bulldozer set which seemed pretty good value to me if that's what you're into. Also not a sort and store to be found. I guess people are buying them as Christmas gifts for children because as fun as they look I can't see them appealing to most AFOLs. I like sorting my pieces more carefully than something like that would do.

Artanis I Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I hit Myer yesterday afternoon, and in my swag grabbed the last Republic Frigate (phew!). @30% off made it worth the while. Okay, so it appeared that the head storage things were all gone, all but 1 Frigate & Falcon gone, but of all the other notables probably half the stock had moved, the other half still there. Not much else looked to hace moved. The highlight of the expedition though was the 12 out of 10 attractive young woman I was behind on the escalator. Wow - and wearing aerobic tights too. You know when someone's out of your league? Well I felt 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea! We both headed to the same side exit, she picked up the pace (you know: "crap, some creep is following me") rushed to the door, but then turned around and stopped to hold it open for me. I think I nearly died. Sorry, off topic there... by then I'd completely forgotten about the awesome haul I'd obtained (& was carrying at the time) On a whim I'd bought the Atlantis Treasure board game. It was $27 and although doesn't seem to be a game you can play alone it looks like it could be good one. The mini subs are pretty cool.
