GI blockage Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Here's my experince with Myers Online ... I received another email from them today saying both items are now out of stock. I called and go what are you on about they where in stock when I bought them, the lady goes well I called our store today and they dont have any stock available and that I will get a refund. Well I was in Myer Sydney city store on monday arvo - there were a few plain-clothes guys searching the Lego section in a confused manner, holding what looked like order forms with a Myer letterhead. I could be wrong, but it seemed to me they were employees who were filling weekend online orders by picking out the shelf-stock! If this is true, this would explain why they couldn't fill your order, and would be a warning to anyone else who wants to order online any Myer exclusives. It also begs the question - has anyone received online Myer orders with price tags & shelfwear?

I gave them such a serve today that I got a email from them explaining they had some tech difficulty with my order. Bascially there online store is a joke, emails are sent to someone in head office that calls around for stock after the order is processed. Unless you can get the stock instore give this a miss, DJ is the same I had to return a grand emporium last year that was pancaked.
KartoffelViking Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Has anyone found any unexpected bargains at the Big W "toy spectacular" so far? I popped by Big W at Golden Grove and TTP (Adelaide) this morning, but didn't spot any extra bargains. I found the whole thing rather unspectacular and underwhealming and left empty handed

jonwil Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Speaking from experience, the biggest problems are minifig and other blind-packed toys eg the black-packaged Hot Wheels stuff which I'm not sure why they sell. Considering that aisle is always wrecked by people ripping them open. I haven't seen too many Collectable Minifigs that have been ripped open. Although the bar-codes/dot-codes/feel-the-bag trick may have helped there as people used that to get the figs they wanted.
Pennas2000 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Has anyone found any unexpected bargains at the Big W "toy spectacular" so far? The only thing spectacular at my bigw where i work was the store manager. 5 foot nothing saying to the crowd being the store opened: "This is my f'n store. any of you c***'s run, push, talk out of turn, I'm f'n shutting down this store and all you bast**d's can f'n go home emptyhanded." And it went on like this for 20 minutes. And no one complained or said a word in protest.
KartoffelViking Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 This morning… like 430am this morning! Dedication to the cause :) Hehe, or greed I had such fond memories of last year's sales, when Big W ended up being my number 1 LEGO pusher. People pay upwards of $200+ to see Charlie Sheen say/do this, but you & others got it for free! Shame no one recorded it on their phone, I would have like to have watched it on "A Current Affair" :-) Bravo
Brickus Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Wen't to my local Big W today and saw that they had 5 Shuttles, and all the boxes were in pristine condition, no 'Big W tape' whatsoever. Actually all the LEGO boxes were in good condition.
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Big W has seem to have failed again, and Kmart has won....this morning when I brought a HP sticker book at TTP the cashier said to me the he had put though his register heaps of Shuttles. I'm going back tonight to pick up a harbour set and maybe a fishing boat...don't know about the boat so much now ! Oh, many of the Kmarts have all three new release HP sets, and the HP DK book is only 29 bucks at Kmart....about 10 bucks cheaper than normal book shops. Keep on shopping !

TheDarkness Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 At my local K-Mart, the shuttle is prominently displayed and it looks brilliant. All pristine boxes, it just screams buy me.
JasonV Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 And the Big W I was at had them dumped on the floor in a pile LOL Not exactly showing off an impressive product...
TheDarkness Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I didn't have any interest in the set beforehand, but I was extremely close to purchasing it. I walked past it three times and looked, and in the end my six year old daughter asked if we could go as all we were doing was looking at lego
Outer Rim Trading Co. Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 My partner and I visited our local Big W at Garden City this afternoon. There was only 1 UCS Shuttle at the info desk at the front door, so we grabbed that. She's buying that for me for me as a birth-mas present :) Thankfully no sign of Biw W tape, and while there was an electronic tag on, it wasn't on tight and didn't crush the edges. Even the lay-buy girl was very careful about taking the price tag sticky tape off the box, and a lot of care was taken. They were surprised to see one sell, so I don't think they have been moving very well today, even suggesting that they had more on a pallet "out the back" with just the 1 box on display. No sign of Obi-Wan's ship though, that was my present to her.. (well one of my presents, I'm not that stingy since she's plonking down so much for the shuttle!)

I Scream Clone Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 The Target pre layby list is up online. Looks like the Alien theme has arrived Standard 20% off. New Spongebob and HP sets too! Mace Windu's fighter as well, looks like they have grabbed a few exclusives.
DarthSion Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Pity its only bigw who has the new SW sets like pod racer set and sith infiltrator.
FelixTheCat Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Went to Meyer in the Canberra Centre today to try and pick up a Queen Annes Revenge. All out of those but I walked around the corner and there was the 8043 Technic Excavator. Hadn't seen one in the shops here for a while so picked one up at $279. There were still 2 there if anyone in Canberra hasn't got around to getting one yet.
Darth Draks Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Pity its only bigw who has the new SW sets like pod racer set and sith infiltrator. I got my falcon and pod racer from shopforme, they have pick up so works out well for me Edit: left a quote out and geez my spelling is bad... Edited June 30, 2011 by Darth Draks
Civic Bossman Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 At Big W Livingstone (WA), there were no Shuttles or Starfighters out on display. It took someone nearly 20 minutes to find them for me, and as it was there were only 2 Starfighters total!

Thanks but I need xmas layby just bought a nag. Anyone recommend sets for someone looking to break out of SW only sets. I only collect SW sets right now and was looking at trying other themes when I was a kid back in the mid 80s - early 90s my folks often bought me city, pirates, castle and the odd technic. While taking advantage of amazon uk free au/nz shipping on some books for my mum, I got brick master atlantis, castle and pirates, and a preorder for the city brickmaster, all of which were nice to build, although didn't really see much in atlantis No interest in HP or aliens, and I wouldn't spend one cent on disney stuff even if I had a gun to my head.

I'm predominately SW too but grabbed this years City Space - including the big Shuttle Adventure. 4 + 1 kits - they're cheap (compared to SW) and fun to build.
TheDarkness Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Thanks to DarthSion for the amazon.co.uk tip, as I hadn't used them before. I ordered 2x 8043 Motorised Excavator for $382.64 AU, with express shipping with an estimate of 2-4 days! Very happy indeed
