Can't see there being many people at Target, I was at Myer for their sale 28% off all Lego and they had the tower and only 4 people where there when it opened. Target only have 20% off Lego and the Harry potter set is even less.

Target only have 20% off Lego and the Harry potter set is even less. Target at Warringah Mall (SYD) had very few people in it at 9.30am this morning, registers manned but no queue. They also had a huge amount of stock sitting on the shelves.
I Scream Clone Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Well my Target was nuts! So many people were snapping up the entire Harry Potter line as well as PotC and SW naturally. I had a nice voucher burning a hole in my pocket so decided to splurge for the first time in ages. Good Neighbor's at Bikini bottom, Krusty Krab Adventures, Battle of Hogwarts and two of the smallest ADU set for the cool green martian! Ahh retail therapy.
Splat Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I was at Target in Melbourne Bourke St this morning. There was maybe about 20 people waiting in line, but only a handful ended up in the Lego isles. I picked up a few 5893 Creator Off-Road Power sets for parts. The RRP for this set is AU$139.99, but Target has had them at about AU$50 for a while, and with 20% off Lego, that worked out to AU$39.89 each. Not bad for 1061 pieces. There was also another guy who had the same idea as me and picked up a few of these sets too. I also got some 628 X-Large Baseplate Grey (AU$12.79 each) and the 7051 Alien Conquest Tripod Invader (AU$27.00). Unfortunately they didn't have any of the small 7049 Alien Conquest Alien Striker sets in stock (it looks like they sold out before the sale even started), and I haven't seen the 853301 Alien Conquest Battle Pack around anywhere yet.
I Scream Clone Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I haven't seen the 853301 Alien Conquest Battle Pack around anywhere yet. You most likely wont see them anywhere. The set number alone leads me to believe this will be like the old Castle battlepacks, only available through S@H. Never know your luck though, maybe a smaller chain toy store will stock them.
Darth Draks Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Well I'm going to have to eat humble pie, just back from Target at northland and I walked in at a slow pace knowing there was like 30 Diagon Alley and about the same Hogwarts Castle. I get to the shelf and they are empty everything is gone, I grabbed the dude working there and he goes they have some at the back, comes back with one Diagon Alley a bit ruffed up and goes its all they have left. I bought it anyhow and might head into the city see if they have a castle or two.
jonwil Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 My Target (at Morley) wasnt that busy today. Ended up buying the Diagon Alley, Hogwarts battle, Knight Bus, Forbidden Forrest, large blue ADU vehicle, and the second smallest alien conquest set. Now I just need some Series 5 Minifigures :)

Hemish Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 No Mil falcons at my local, got there in the afternoon and it was like a bomb had hit it, seriously the place was a mess, there were staff everywhere trying to clean up. They did have some diagon alleys left about 4 but the hogwarts were all gone and I told myself no hogwarts no diagon alley, I did pick up some of the alien conquest sets and they are pretty neat, my sister is going to wait for the city target to open in the morning and try and grab me a few of the ones they didnt have down here. I would have liked that Falcon, oh well next time...
Brickmamba Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 No Mil falcons at my local, got there in the afternoon and it was like a bomb had hit it ha ha was planning to go into target on Bourke st during lunch today but was too busy, maybe tomorrow
Hewman Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I just got an email from Myer, $20 off for every $75 you spend on toys this weekend, the only exclusion I could find was console games. So if it can be doubled up with sales prices, there could be some great deals to be had even though the most popular sets appear sold out everywhere. If anyone has previous experience of being able to double up discounts like this at Myer, it would be great to know.

The email I received had this line "Cannot be used with current electric or toy catalogues" so unfortunately a double discount doesn't look possible.

I can't find that either in my email or the pdf document with the list of exclusions. It would be strange if it was state based or something (I'm in SA).
Debrick Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 For those who are intrested. Target at Maroochydore Qld has a dozen Diagon Alley left
Treadwah Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Target was a huge disappointment for Atlantis sets, the biggest set was $30 cheaper a fortnight ago (at the same store). Grrrrrr Hopefully Myer is a touch more friendly.
ang911 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 So no one in Adelaide is interested in taking a spare Technic Supercar for $145?
shnake Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 The email I received had this line "Cannot be used with current electric or toy catalogues" so unfortunately a double discount doesn't look possible. I tried for a double discount at Myer this morning, but it was a no go.
dotmike Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I tried for a double discount at Myer this morning, but it was a no go. Cheeky! It would have been very surprising if there was, as the "spend $75 get $20 back" already approximates to a 26.7% discount. Given that most of the toy catalogue already has discounts in the 20% range, a double-decker discount would have made some things sell at a loss. (Woe to staff who let it go through, they will probably get tested for fraud.) The sale is "okay" if you can find things that neatly fit in $75 multiples, or pad them with things you actually want to get there. However, even though 26.7% is similar to the 28% discount that the MyerOne discount (20% + extra 10%) works out as, it's far less flexible if you can't neatly get your purchases in those multiples of $75. I'm disappointed they had this instead of the MyerOne this weekend. Still, it does let you buy things outright like: Millennium Falcon $189 ($249 RRP div 75 = 3 * 20 = $60 discount) Tower Bridge $299 ($399 RRP div 75 = 5 * 20 = $100 discount) City Train $169 ($229 RRP div 75 = 3 * 20 = $60 discount) All of which are cheaper than Target's 20% (aside from the fact that Target doesn't sell Tower Bridges).
Kha-khees Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Are there anyalien conquest tripods left in targets in melbourne? Only made it to 2 today, but they were sold out of the tripod and smallest set, plenty of choppers and UFOs (but I don't recall seeing the mobile base)

They had all the other Alien Conquest sets though.

Got one from chirnside park on the way to the archibald this morning. They only had 2 left, and still no strikers.
jonwil Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 No shortage of Harry Potter at MYER Perth CBD but not much else. Target Perth CBD had all the Alien Conquest sets, most HP (battle, knight bus, train, Diagon Alley), some Starwars (pod racers, jedi shuttle, some others), the Spongebob stuff, City, NinjaGo, POTC and some other stuff.
