I have a $20 Myer discount too so now you've tempted me - don't collect HP but I'm sure there's some MOCer who'd want the mini-mini figures.... You know how much the sets are each off-hand?

I'd guess $50, although I didn't see any at Myer Carindale when I checked this morning. Obviously they've sold well unlike other games which there were still plenty of. Also of note: A sign in Myers had the 3 for 2 games offer running until September 11th. I had previously thought it was finishing today, so you've still got a couple of weeks to hunt down what you want. It seems there isn't a great deal of price difference between Myers and K-mart / BigW on the games, so that deal probably represents the best value you'll get for a while.

Until others mark them as clearance. If they mark them as clearance...

I went out to scope most of the majors to see if any of the reductions mentioned in the last few pages were widespread. The results were disappointing. I'm sure by this time last year there had been a big run of clearances, but there seems to be very few this time around. Either stores are getting better with their stock management, there has been a declaration from on high that clearances aren't to occur as often, or it's a store by store basis. At any rate, the only things I saw with clearance tags were the City of Atlantis (7985, K-mart, $89, no previous price mentioned) and a number of Bionicle sets (didn't pay attention to them as they're outside my interest). That 7985 @ $89 is around 25% cheaper than Myers ($119), so it's not exactly an "OMG, must buy now" sort of thing either.

Crossing fingers for older stuff to get the Yellow Tag of Happiness soon, but the various Myer sale permutations are beginning to look like the best going around. Until you open a browser to Bricklink can of worms... :classic:

Thanks for the tip, dotmike.

Don't have a $20 discount but that would still be pretty useful haul of parts for $100.

Might head out and see if I can find a few sets.

Last years' games are very plentiful in stock where I am, so it's possible that that may happen in time. This year's however... good luck.

Proud owner of three 3862 Harry Potter Hogwarts games. Wife OKed it as long as I played it once with her :)

Cheers on the headsup on the deal - I wasn't confident of good enough pieces in sets - but this is great.

Agree on the pieces. I hadn't paid much attention to the games for pieces, because I'd assumed they were a less than optimal way of getting bits. And tan bricks are one colour I'm not particularly short on at the moment.

A lot of 6x6 plates, brown tiles, tan corner panels and those big grey plates could certainly help though :classic: Now I just need to find a Myers with them in stock.

Not sales related, but I'm hoping someone with Lego contacts in Aus might know... Is the Maersk train going to be picked up by any of the majors?

Ditto, thanks again dotmike.

1 only left at Myer Tuggeranong. Can confirm sale is on until Sept 11.

Thought about also getting 2 x Pharoes Pyramid + the main Heroica game for $80 total but pieces not so compelling and budget already spent.

PS: The other good thing about buying games for pieces is the nice useful boxes they come in.

Lego Club arrived in the mail today, Pet Shop is going to be at DJ's along with the GE as well. As I wrote last week Myers is getting the 3677 red cargo train, but independents and Myers are getting the SW advents - meh ! Oh, yeah they are doing the usual 29.95 city advent deal again !

What chances that the Pet Shop will reach the ridiculously low prices that the Fire Station hit (ie 50% off)?

I have been close to ordering this from overseas a couple of times but after picking up Fire Stations for $150, I'm holding off for the moment

The thing with the firestation is that it was/is available widely. Myer, DJs, TRU and independents.

Petshop is set to be a DJs exclusive. As with Cafe corner, Grand Carousel and Grand Emporium they were all DJs exclusives and are all rare and gone up in value.

So I don't think you will find it at clearance. You maybe lucky and score 25% off at somestage.

Cheers for that. The only retail stores I have available are K-Mart, Toyworld and Target so unless any of those others have an online sale, I miss out.

Anyone know if David Jones will actually get some decent stock levels in for the Pet Shop or will it be like the Grand Emporium last year where you are lucky if they have ONE in stock?

And does anyone know when the Pet Shop is going to hit retail?

What about the Winter Post Office, do we know if that is hitting retail or will that be a 2012 release if anything?

I've been lucky enough to get the CC and the GE from DJ's at 25% off. But you've got to go day 1 of their traditional lead into Christmas toy sale, which invariably has a solid discount on LEGO.

I'm super excited to get the Pet shop and with a 20-25% off the retail DJs price will end up about what it seems to go for on Bricklink once you factor shipping in - so Aussie retail ain't always bad !!!!

The Pet Shop will be at DJs in October. I wouldn't hold my breath that they'll be stocked well. The only time I've seen them stocked well with a Modular set was with the Fire Brigade that everyone had.

Star Wars advent calendar available September (probably not tomorrow though) at Myer, independents and Toyworld.

My guess is we won't see the Winter Post Office at retail until next year. I'm going to test my patience on that one and see if there's free shipping on May 4 as it probably isn't worth importing (if you're prepared to wait until next year and don't want it for Christmas) as it's $70 US even though some places have reported it as $60, but the definitive source, shop at home says $70.

DJs do sell online so keep an eye out. On here or the other forums but get in quick.

Yeah I do try and keep and eye out, but it really doesn't last long. May have to send my money overseas again

Just wondering, was there any word on an Aussie retail stockist / date for the vw campervan?

It's probably too soon, most of the shop at home exclusive sets (the 10XXX numbers) aren't usually available at retail stores until they've been available at shop at home for 6 months. The Campervan seems a likely candidate to show up at the winter sales next year, which probably means about a 9 month wait until we find out who will stock it (assuming one store does). However, the Pet Shop has appeared a little quicker than that so maybe someone will stock it for Christmas, but I can't think of any exclusive sets coming out between October and December except for some of the Modulars that DJs have had, but I'm happy for someone to correct me.

Thanks for that Hewman, you make a sound argument, I'm sure you'll be right.

On the Pet Shop front - I just had a relo over in France, who tried to find a set for me in Paris - they went to the main place recommended on the boards here, but were told they weren't going to have any until October! I'll be joining the DJs queue somewhere down the track I think... I was lucky enough to get a GE for a really good price but I'll be happy with 25% off of this one!

Series 5 has reached Victoria.. Just picked up my box of series 5 minifigs from Toyworld today..

Series 5 are also at Myer Melbourne Bourke Street. There were about half a dozen boxes on the shelf (near the check-out), but they looked like they had been gone through a little bit. There was one box that looked untouched (until I got to it), and I managed to use the touch and feel method to get one of each. At AU$4.95 each the price was a bit steep though.

I actually picked up two boxers (because you can't box by yourself, and he has a cool double sided head).
