You're absolutely spot on! The set has recently gone into LEGO Australia S@H: 4184 The Black Pearl $169.99.

So, that makes it:

Big W everyday $147

Target/TRU @ 20% ~ $136

Myer @ 25% off = $127.50

MyerOne at @20%+10% = $122.40

Myer 3 Pearls for 2 = $113.32

Other shops for mugs who don't buy on sale: $169.99

Nice list there, makes my job easier lol

I am house bound for a week now so I am relying on you all to let me know when the Black Pearl hits a chain store near you! I will then send beloved Wifey off on a quest to attain the aforementioned Black Pearl for me bounty, arrgghh (sorry got a bit piratey towards the end there)

On topic though the local Toyworld is having a sale currently but the sale items don't seem to match the latest cataogue which is valid from the 27/10/11 to the 6/11/11. Was checking out the Shuttle 10231 in particular which should be going for $129.00 during the sale. Possibly I was too early today?

Police Station 7498 $119.00

Marina 4644 $ 59.99

Fire Temple 2507 $ 159.00

Earth Dragon Defense 2509 $ 49.99

Flatbed truck 8109 $ 129.00

Shuttle 10231 $ 129.00

Earth Defense 7066 $ 129.00

Darth Vader clock $ 39.99

Just done a quick scan of the LEGO carrying dept stores of Westfield Miranda (Target, David Jones, Myer, Toys R Us, Big W).

No one there had broken embargo on the Pearl.

The modular Pet Shop is now on the shelf at David Jones, though not on sale (yet), so it's $269.95. Three of them when I was there.

DJs feels like it's gearing up for a sale as it has extra displays given over to LEGO and many multiples of City items, 20 Marinas, 10 yellow trucks, etc, etc. About 10 modular Fire Brigades at that store so there should be plenty around come sale time even though that set is rumored to be nearing end of life.

Target had their 20% going but no one else. Plenty of stock everywhere, though the past 25%'er at TRU seems to have helped run down their POTC range, so there's lots of space for Pearls when they wheel them out from the storeroom...

Ah, but the BP is an independent exclusive.....which means Toyworld, Toy Corner, BTTW, etc.,. (Though Lego might change their minds  )

Checking Lasso now to see if the catalogue is up yet.

Edit - NOPE not up yet.....pity 'TT' didn't take a shot of the page eh ?

Why? Don't you believe him!?!? He says he saw it in the catalogue...pretty sure he's not making it up...gosh

Actually the CTT was never a Target exclusive, like many sets and themes, they like other retailers had the rights to sell it first.

Anyway we (including me) are getting off topic. We have no reason to doubt TanTile and it's great that one of the most anticipated sets has almost arrived.

Are there any sales coming up for TRU?

I'm keeping a very close eye on the AT-AT, Hoth Base and Republic Frigate, all at my local TRU for about $170 each.

Another Target sale? We had one last week! I'm running out of discounted sets.

Got two Lego emails this morning from local sellers.

Shop4 Me has the Unimog at $247 and Outer Rim has it for $279.

Shopforme also had the pearl for $127.95 but they are sold out already.

And thanks for letting me know about the Pet Shop.

Will be interested to hear about the DJ sale...

I reckon it'll be like Maces Jedi fighter - it'll be around in 6 months at Target. Or grab it from Shop@Home if 6 months wait doesn't work. I have also seen it on Bricklink at a good price.

I just think there's no one who knows what's happening with it.

I know shop @ home and bricklink is an option but I like to have the hands on experiance and pick it up on the shelf and tuck it under my arm and take it home with me. Also its grat to get set on sale @ retail stores to save a dollar or two so I can redirect my saving into another Lego purchase  . Looks like I just need to learn paitance like Master Kenobi once said.

Spotted the Black Pearl at Costco (Melbourne) yesterday - $129.99

Great to know, thanks for the report!

That's going to be one of the cheapest around for a while, even with 20%'ers at stores that start with T.

Now the dilemma is: is it worth joining Costco just to buy the Pearl? I think it's $60 to join, isn't it? Back when I first saw Costco in the US had them and thought it was a long shot that Australia would too, I actually considered joining because I was itching to go and check, but then thought that would be silly just on the off chance.

It would make it the price with the join fee more than the RRP of the Pearl, but other bargain priced LEGO might come up in the future (as it apparently has in the past). Or I could buy multiple Pearls and sell them to subsidise the join fee. What to do, what to do.

BigW has a toy catalogue out next week, their shipment of stock expected on Tuesday (Monday the earliest), spoke to Toyworld Parafield they are expecting their BP's some time in November.

How did Costco beat everyone else ?

Probably because of their US connection - they're a different kettle of fish to other retailers, basically a big warehouse where palettes of goods are stacked in bulk for customer members to buy. Their stock may have come direct from the US.

I saw them mentioned on the From Bricks to Bothans forum, where Deak Starkiller saw they had a cheap price on the set even by US standards, and I posted it as a long shot here (though I don't know if that's what inspired Mainee to take a look or he just happened to be there yesterday).

I won't make anyone cry by telling what the Pearl is going for in the US.

Er, yes I will:

That shot was taken in Arizona, USA, but presumably the "warehouse look" of the shelving is identical in Sydney, Melbourne (where Mainee spotted it), and Canberra Costcos.

They don't carry many LEGO items, but Costco could become a valuable Australian source for select sets, where the prices are perpetually on sale.

I hate living in a small city, I think it will be many years before we see a costco up here (I may not be alive to see it lol).

(PS $ 79.99 OMG)

If there are other non-LEGO things at Costco that you might buy (e.g. bulk food purchases) it might make the annual fee worth it.

You can always just go with a friend - but beware: a close friend borrowed card and they were caught out and forced to forfeit it!

Anywho, have some patience - it'll be released soon enough and be on sale soon enough - well-timed patience usually wins out when it comes to Lego bargains!

As a matter of fact, if your local Target has them out you may be able to pick them up for $135 with their

current (perennial?) 20% off.
