Xyver Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Go back to David jones. Ask them to check if they can get one from another store. The store I got mine from had at least another one. I did his for millennium falcon last year and it took a week to come in but still got it t the reduced price. Didn't cost any extra to get it either. Just got back from DJs at Carindale. I asked very politely if they can order stock in from other stores. The answer was a very strong "No, we don't do that, where'd you hear about that" I hadn't even mentioned what I was after, so you must have got someone on a very good day. I did grab their last Hillside House, I wanted two but they only had one left and 4 of the large baseplates, all a steal at 40% off.

I did grab their last Hillside House, I wanted two but they only had one left and 4 of the large baseplates, all a steal at 40% off. Well that's not good news. I was offered it first a few years ago when chasing down 10196 grand carousel. Then asked for it soon after millennium falcon was released and they had 25% off and they got it from dee why David jones for me. Try calling and speaking to a manager. They have done it. I can't see why they can't do it again. Myer also do a thing here they can mail you stuff for only about $10 Australia wide but you won't hear about that either, you need to ask. On a trip to gold last I found a discounted racing seat for a games console and it was huge. I said to my wife that would cost a bit in excess luggage and my wife said post it, but I knew Australia post max size is 1m and this was much bigger. A salesperson heard us and said myer can send it to you for a fee. I thought they were going to send it for me to pick up at my local store but they sent it Australia post registered for $9.95 and it beat us home. I I'll always remember that for big sets if we are away and score a great deal.
TheSwampCreature Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Anyone see Monster Fighters within Sydney area?
DrWeevil Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Anyone see Monster Fighters within Sydney area? These aren't being released until mid-ish August, so they won't be anywhere here.
lightningtiger Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Very little to report except the BigW Giant Toy Spectacular starts 28th of June, so I can guess we will not see the catalogue for it until a week before it at best. I'll try and dig up what toy sale info from my many different sources.
TheDarkness Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 K-Mart had a few of the new Star Wars sets in. Very hard to resist Jabba's Palace even at full price. MUST RESIST! MUST RESIST!
distortme Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 K-Mart had a few of the new Star Wars sets in. Very hard to resist Jabba's Palace even at full price. MUST RESIST! MUST RESIST! I couldn't resist it, but got Target to match TRUs 25% off. Built it yesterday - its great and easily expandable.
Artanis I Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Toyworld at Parafield had the joust 199.95 That is disgraceful. S@H has it for $180.
distortme Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Girl at Myer Adelaide said that toy sale will have 20% off Lego with bigger reductions on some items, as well as a likely Myer One 10% extra promotion. Sounds like a by the numbers deal. Catalogue was due to be out soon.
ChrisW Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 That is disgraceful. S@H has it for $180. (Without shipping). Surely once you add the additional costs, Toyworld is the better deal?
Artanis I Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (Without shipping). Surely once you add the additional costs, Toyworld is the better deal? If that was the end of the story, yes. But I got the set from S@H with free shipping (plus the freebies) thanks to May the 4th, and we are also expecting this set to be available to independent toy shops that stock Lego. They would surely sell it at $180. A particular local shop strictly sells all of its Lego at RRP (except CMFs, for $1 less than RRP). Regardless of the cheaper deal, the unwarranted markup of $20 is not cool by Toyworld. Who do they think they are, TRU?

Each store is independently owned, so it may be the case that this particular store was a bit greedy with the pricing of this set...

Nope my store in Qld had it for $200 as well, I assume it is the same across the board. Edited June 12, 2012 by Brickus
Hewman Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) Nope my store in Qld had it for $200 as well, I assume it is the same across the board. Adelaide Toyworld had it for RRP of $180. Also for those in Adelaide, Marden Toyworld is no longer a Toyworld. It's still a toy store though. No Toyworld exclusive sets available but a few sets 10-15% off like Ninjago Fortress and Mill Village Raid. Still the same lousy service where staff would prefer to be making private phone calls rather than try to help out a shopper. Edit: Perhaps I remembered incorrectly as the new Toyworld catalogue has it at $199. Also Toyworld have a few sets on sale. I think Winter Village bakery was $30 off and so was the Ninjago Destiny's Bounty. Edited June 13, 2012 by hewman
DrWeevil Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 So I just received a Myer voucher in the mail that is valid until July 1 - which brings me to my question - do we know what date the Myer Toy Sale starts? Obviously I'd rather wait until the sale and use my voucher then if possible!
glendo Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 any r2d2's sighted in sydney target stores yet? i have looked at burwood with no luck
eli_77 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Just spotted a new price guarantee on the latest TRU catalog: http://www.toysrus.com.au/w1/i2064303 "Spot a lower price and we'll beat it by 10%" Could be good for when Myer/Target have a 25% off sale and you can get an additional 10% off ? Though this would only be beneficial if the TRU set wasn't marked up by 10%+ in the first place!

I'm hoping there's one coming my way too :)
jamonlego Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) I'm pretty sure the TRU offer doesn't apply to % off sales - in the small print http://www.toysrus.c...ns/w1/i2065096/ Edited June 13, 2012 by jamonlego
Magma Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I thinks it's next Thursday. Was the voucher a standard one or particular just to you? I'm hoping there's one coming my way too :) I received one as well, saying they hadn't seen me for awhile so here's a $10 voucher. I've also got a $20 gift card they sent awhile ago... so it may be a trip to Myer if the sale starts this month.
DrWeevil Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I thinks it's next Thursday. Was the voucher a standard one or particular just to you? I'm hoping there's one coming my way too :) It was printed with the address label on the back - a $10 coupon. I haven't bought anything from Myer (and therefore with the myer one card since the mid-year toy sale last year, so I suppose they're right - it has been a long time! The only restriction applying to Lego is that you have to spend over $10, relinquish the voucher and have your Myer One card there - but that's it! Think it's worth a walk down at lunch - hopefully combine some exercise with a good bargain. I'll just have to figure out a set I actually want from Myer!

I've also got a $20 gift card they sent awhile ago... so it may be a trip to Myer if the sale starts this month. Confirmed next Thursday (21st) with staff today. The question was prompted because Myer Canberra Centre had a lot of new stock in (or a higher volume of old stock out of the store room and on display, more correctly - LOTR sets and new Star Wars were conspicuous by their absence), but they did have the new creator houses available for $60
Artanis I Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) Target toy sale catalogue will be revealed on Saturday. Still don't know when the sale starts though... BTW LOTR is available for order on S@H if you hadn't noticed already. Orc Forge is priced at $69.99 (vs US$39.99), still unsure where it will be available here. It's Target in USA, but could be different here. Edited June 14, 2012 by Artanis I
BrettBrick Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Myer, BigW, Target and Kmart all start over the next few weeks.
