Hi All,

Anyone know where to get modular Town Hall in Tassie:

Cheers,

LLL

Since its a David Jones exclusive, your easiest option is to buy it from David Jones online (as of right now its $239.99 plus shipping)

Thanks jonwil,

Yeah.... lots of options online.......was wondering if there's an 'bricks and mortar' alternative here for the DJ exclusive sets (or TRU for that matter) - as there are no physical stores for either in Tas :hmpf_bad:.

Cheers,

LLL

On the topic of David Jones...I went to the Melbourne City store and their Lego section was anaemic at best. And with the 20% off sale, they seem to have marked up the prices of quite a bit of their Lego.

They had 8 boxes of the Pet Shop modular 10218 but the boxes were all bashed and the sticker price was $269. Wasn't the RRP $249?

The prices on the online DJs store has real proper Aussie RRPs though.

Myer in the city was also quite bare.

Guess retailers are preparing for restocks soon.

Myer Brisbane has stocked up on some new 2013 sets, but not everything yet and there was still less space devoted to LEGO than normal. Here is what I remember:

Legends of Chima:

70000 Razcal's Glider ($15)

70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor ($45)

+ one other $45 set (probably 70004)

+ 3 of the $23 sets with Speedorz bikes

City:

60002 Fire Truck

60003 Fire Emergency

60016 Tanker Truck ($30)

60017 Flatbed Truck ($30)

60018 Cement Mixer ($30)

Friends:

All of the new sets except the pool and the animal series.

They also had the 10660 Pink Suitcase with the Friends sets and a box of CMF series 9 on the counter.

Couldn't see any new Star Wars or Creator.

There were still sale signs up everywhere, but no Lego on sale.

So do we have any kind of info on when the new fire station or fire truck will be available in the big retailers?

I want both for parts for various fire MOCs I have planned.

Perth CBD is a LEGO wasteland right now (unless you happen to want Series 9, the Museum break-in, Octan tanker or police ATV in which case MYER can help you out)

My local Kmart has started to stock the series 9 minifigures (Queensland)

Myers in Melbourne has lots of series 9 minifigs too.

Read online (might have been Whirlpool) about someone receiving their sets in 2 weeks even when designated express. Someone else received their package flattened. Anyone else purchased from Mighty Ape before?

I have a couple orders on the go with them I'll let you know how they go. I take those forums with a pinch of salt unless there's an excessive amount of complaints.

Even in the industry I work in people are a lot more likely to report on a bad experience than a good one with a company.

My local Kmart has started to stock the series 9 minifigures (Queensland)

Any chance of a local release of 10937?

Good news that a Kmart some where in Oz is getting 2013 stock of thing.........oh, and that set 10937.....maybe a store exclusive one day....who knows ?

BigW and Target in Melbourne are low on stock at the moment.

TRU has the Series 9 minifigs ($4.99) and their exclusive Hoth Echo Base 7879. That's about it.

Found...a Star Wars Gungan Sub at Target that was open, mini figures missing and ONE BAG was built. Stickers applied! WTF? I think someone bought it, took the minifigs, built bag one and returned it. A Superhero Spidey Set was also torn open and missing half the contents.

In the next aisle was a kid clutching a toy. His mum was yelling at him, 'Put it back! You JUST had Christmas. You don't need another present,'. To which he replied, 'But it's cheap...'

Well I went to a store near me called Bricks n Fun. Had nearly all of the new Chima sets and series 9 minifigures (which the owner has already identified and put in individual bags). I inquired about the other new stuff and he said that all the new Star Wars stuff and Super Heroes is expected end of the month :/

On topic: good news, thanks. Keen to get CMF & SW over & done with before Galaxy Squad comes out. Was expecting releases to occur next week though (mid month seems normal here), and couldn't come sooner as the Lego aisles have been ghost towns since Christmas.

Off topic: turn the number for Arkham Asylum (10937) upside down and it spells LEGO!

Yes, I grew up typing SHELL OIL into my calculator... and the other word too...

Picked up City Tow Truck and Friends Soccer set and newborn foal set for $29.95 and 2 x $15.95 at Myer Melbourne tonight, they also had Chima (or similar sounding) sets just in.

Someone was asking about Mighty Ape: I just received my Haunted House set - supposedly sent on 31st December. The box has significant flattening damage - no holes but almost as bad - there's no way I could give it as a gift (as was my intention). Severely disappointed - for a $200 purchase sent only from Qld it was disgusting. The box was wrapped only in thin flimsy corrugated cardboard that offered no protection whatsoever.

That would be me! Sorry to hear that. A mate of mine received a 8039 Star Wars Venator shipped to Melbourne from Sydney and HORROR!, the box was just bubble wrapped. While it wasn't crushed, you can imagine that it has some creases and indentations.

To bring this on topic, I placed an order with IQ Toys for the Haunted House for $175 (shipped). Supposedly picked up the last one and now listed as out of stock. Today I checked and they told me they had a 'stock error' and had no more stock. I could get a refund OR wait till they hear whether they can get more stock (early to Mid Feb). Apparently, they said they were told the Monster Fighters line is going out of print. So I'm out of pocket till Feb! Gah. Was looking forward to fixing that one up!

I believe both Might Ape and IQ Toys actually post from New Zealand.

Mighty Ape - https://www.facebook...151282071676220

While they mention a distribution centre in Australia - http://www.mightyape...rn-an-item/133/

They don't seem to have ABN and the invoice contains their New Zealand address:

IQ Toys seemed to have closed their Queensland branch - https://www.facebook...otal_comments=3

Their shipping times are listed as:

Australia: 3-6 working days

New Zealand: 1-4 working days

Will be checking MYER tomorrow to see if the new City stuff (fire truck in particular) has made it west yet, I want the fire truck so I can start on my next MOC project :) (I need the fire station as well but that doesn't seem to have even reached Oz yet)

Re: Mighty Ape - yes, you are correct, they are a New Zealand company, however, my parcel itself was postmarked as being sent from Queensland, so I presume they distributed it from there and it was between Qld and Melb that the damage occurred. If given the choice I'd have paid a bit more than their $5 shipping if it meant they used industry standard packaging materials.

Have you lodged a complaint with them? Regardless of postage cost they have a responsibility to provide adequate protection to sets they ship

If they are outside of Oz then any of our state or federal consumer laws are not enforcible.

I guess not buying from that particular company again might be only thing you can do, but then again if they do have an Australian office.....then which state that is in....well try the consumer affairs department in that state.

I would write to the company first instead of going straight to consumer affairs. :-)

I'm a bit worried I might have missed out on the Haunted House. I loved Monster Fighters and managed to collect the whole set except the Haunted House, since it never came out in the shops around here. Can anyone tell me the best place where I can still order one from, at the best price?

I was at my local K-Mart this morning and they were clearing and stocking the shelves. The new series of Collectible Minifigs is out, as well as the City Museum. I also saw the price tags that weren't on the shelves yet, and the 7050-1: Alien Defender was listed as $1! The 7065-1: Alien Mothership was $59.

I'm looking around too. All the usual cheaper suspects are out of stock. Shopforme, IQ Toys etc. I saw one listed on one of the Aussie shops online for $399!!

At that price, your best bet is to get it from overseas.
