Thanks ISC, If anyone has problems please pm/email me. It's a pity you are having trouble ... I just signed up and it worked immediately. The site looks really good. It will be awesome to get in touch with people who have local knowledge about what is available and cheap right here on our own lovely shores. Thanks, Iz. Now BACK ONTOPIC am I the only one who's worried that all these 15% Off LEGO sales at Kmart have replaced the old 20% Off ones?
Siegfried Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Now BACK ONTOPIC am I the only one who's worried that all these 15% Off LEGO sales at Kmart have replaced the old 20% Off ones? Not at all. I'm very worried. I thought that this year would have more sales as I figured that LEGO increased the margins for shops. It would seem that I am wrong. There are many sets that I've been forced to turn down due to this; the entire contruction line seems over-priced to me, even with 20% off.
Izzy Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Who is with me... to try to petition for a LEGO store in Australia. Hehe. (not that it is at all possible of that I would know how ) I'd love to be the first to open a LEGO franchise down under. 20% discount to EB memebers. HA HA HA.
MicroM Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) Now BACK ONTOPIC am I the only one who's worried that all these 15% Off LEGO sales at Kmart have replaced the old 20% Off ones? I'm pretty sure they started last year with 15% off as their sale, but it changed back to 20% as the year went on (i'm sure they had 20% off by the time the July toy sale started). I wonder what set KMart will have for that sale this year, last year it was the UCS MF, wonder if they'll get the Death Star in ?? I'd love if they got that CW dropship. Well the other stores [Target, Myer, DJ's] All still have 20% Off but their sales aren't as often as Kmart. And BigW doesn't have a sale on ALL their LEGO just certain themes/sets. And normally there's ATLEAST ONE 20% Off LEGO Sale by March. Who is with me... to try to petition for a LEGO store in Australia. Hehe. (not that it is at all possible of that I would know how ) I'd love to be the first to open a LEGO franchise down under. 20% discount to EB memebers. HA HA HA. Apparently there is a LEGO Store in Melbourne? But it could just be one of those Educational ones. But even those apparently have some rare sets. Still cant get an answer out of TLC. But I think everyone here agrees we need one here in Aus. Atleast 1 in QLD.... I'm pretty sure they started last year with 15% off as their sale, but it changed back to 20% as the year went on (i'm sure they had 20% off by the time the July toy sale started). Weren't those 15% Off store wide sales? Although I remember acouple 15% Off LEGO sales but the 20% Off one's where more often I'd be awesome if they got that Dropship in. Also TRU now has that Exclusive PW set instore [The one with lots of those flick-fire TNT missiles]

Yea it's an educational one, also there's a sister one in Brisbane but I haven't seen it As for the 15% off sales, there will still be some, Target had one 2 or so weeks ago

But I didnt see what was inside really. Not sure if its worth going to if theres anything there.
Izzy Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Yeah I know there's one in the CBD in Brisbane I've driven past it. But I didnt see what was inside really. Not sure if its worth going to if theres anything there. Where abouts in the CBD? I had no idea. What does education store even mean?
MicroM Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Where abouts in the CBD? I had no idea. What does education store even mean? There is (or was) one at South Brisbane, across the road from the Brisbane Convention centre. The one day is was there they didn't open until 10.00am, and it was about 9.50am and they wouldn't let me in. They had heaps of kits in there and a few little tables (like the ones you see at David Jones). I wonder if they get those magnet sets in, would be great to get them from there.
DarthSion Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I'm not worried about all the 15% off, waiting for 20% is too much, they only happen once or twice a year. Its smart if you ask me, the whole world is in recession, either flog your goods, or go the way of crazy clarks.
Darth_Legois Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Where abouts in the CBD? I had no idea. What does education store even mean? For little kids pretty much/Schools I think too? Hewman Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 pretty cool looking set town developer set but check out the price, over 20 cents a piece and just a few town figs.
Svelte Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 pretty cool looking set town developer set but check out the price, over 20 cents a piece and just a few town figs. Educational sets are usually more expensive as they are designed for use by a multitude of users in an educational setting. It's the same as if you, an individual, buy a magazine subscription compared to an educational organisation or commercial entity buying the same thing. The latter pays more as the whole organisation has access to the magazine or journal.
I Scream Clone Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 How low can she go! I just noticed the Space Skull set is now 39.99, as a parts pack it isn't bad. The Star Justice is still 49.99 though, but you never know.....
Svelte Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I just noticed the Space Skull set is now 39.99, as a parts pack it isn't bad. Yes, but 100 of those parts are those annoying small click hinges It's still a rip-off; UK buyers get it for under $AUD30!
I Scream Clone Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Yes, but 100 of those parts are those annoying small click hinges It's still a rip-off; UK buyers get it for under $AUD30! Yes, your right, just checked out the parts list and it is filled with nothing all that useful. No offence to the guy who designed the set, but the figures are pretty lame too, i mean stickers on the torso, they must have known how much this set would suck! Say svelte, you may know this, when does TLC start to lower the prices on Christmas sales? They seem to start with 33% off, and then if stock doesn't move they drop it to 50%. Are we looking at a 2 weeks before they drop the price further? always a gamble... Just looking forward to Post Xmas this year as a savings plan.

Are we looking at a 2 weeks before they drop the price further? always a gamble... You're lucky I have no impulse control and order as soon as the sales start so my Lego order history is a good record of what happened when This year was different in that the 09 sets released 25 Dec instead of 1 Jan as in previous years. The sale started 26 Dec with most stuff 30% off. It only dropped to 50% off around 8 Feb, by which time a lot of good stuff had gone (like the Agents Volcano base - woo!). I put in an order then when the Spongebob & MM sets hit 50% off. There's also a mid year sale to look forward to on S@H, like last year when the 07 SW battle packs went 30% off and Exo-Force went 70% off. But the latter only lasted about a day before it vanished. Last year I was on hols so not paying attention but it was around the time the Clone Wars sets came out (end of July). However in the last 6 months Lego has also gone for the 'surprise' 50% off sale on things like General Grievous and the Twilight. Obviously they're keen to move non-selling stock quicker. I guess with the volume of SW sets they release they only want to warehouse a certain amount. Who wants the old stuff when a whole new line is released? (That said, I think The Twilight is going to be one of those sleeper sets that will be worth a fortune very quickly as soon as the sale glut clears and a lot of people are surprised they can't find it anymore.)
radiant7 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Hey guys, what's this new Aussie website mentioned above?. I can't seem to find the URL in the last few pages.

I Scream Clone Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Myer has buy 2 toys get third free, great for army builders out there! Offer runs to 29th of March
Svelte Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Myer has buy 2 toys get third free, great for army builders out there! Offer runs to 29th of March Thanks, ScreamBob ClonePants! I went to Myer Sydney City early and cleared out the Clone battle packs. Yay for me! Boo for anyone that got there after 9 o'clock! (Ok, there weren't that many compared to the zillions of Assassin Droid battlepacks, but it was still a good deal.) Interestingly, I noted that Myer has started selling Belville When did this happen? They also seemed to have put all the AT-TEs and Republic Gunships out the back as there were none there today and heaps a few weeks ago... I doubt they sold out in that time.
Darth_Legois Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 I thought [since I already have 1 Clone BP] I dont really need 2 more & a Droid BP. I might just get that construction thing thats $20, 1 Clone BP & 1 Droid BP. That way I dont have a 3rd BP and no purpose.... [Although you can never have to many CLONES!!! ] Hope my myer has some left though...
