Picked up the Diagon Alley set and it was very well packed from initial inspection. Looks good. Time to finish up my Haunted House before moving on to this,

Not into Harry Potter but this is a nice one. Lot of pieces, minifigs and three buildings.

The Winter Village Cottage is $104.99 at S@H, down from $149.99

Thanks for the heads up, but I'll wait for Toyworld to get it mid-year so I don't have to pay a high freight charge and it's for Christmas so it's not needed in a hurry eh ?

Funny, no sales this week involving Lego just about anywhere. :cry_sad:

I never buy from S@H because of the postage. They charge almost the price of the set! And Australian Lego is already almost DOUBLE America's prices! That's around 3-4x the American prices all up. Sorry of I sound angry, I don't mean it like that. It would be spectacular if there was a Lego warehouse in Australia so we get cheaper postage.

I ordered one of these yesterday with my Palace Cinema order (I ordered two so as to make a larger cinema) and couldn't pass up 30% discount direct from Lego. Just checked S@H and it is now saying 'Call to check product availability'. Glad I didn't fight the urge to buy the Cinema too hard or I may have missed out.

I know the postage is expensive, and no doubt DJs will finally get this set and have it on sale, but after the sudden increase in the price of the Town Hall not long after its release, I thought it best to get it now. The Palace Cinema is only 30% more than US prices, which is a great result of us, and a lot cheaper than the other modulars, I don't expect that to last too long.

I saw on one of the business news programs a while back where there was a story about David Jones and its results. One of the things they said was that they are going to reign in their discounting (as well as exiting completly from music sales, movie sales and video game sales). So that doesn't bode well for those hoping to see a nice 20% or more off the modulars at some point.

Also can anyone suggest the best place to buy the large grey baseplate from in Perth? Anyone got em on any kind of discount or sale? Any particular retailers more likely to have one than the others (I haven't seen any yet at the retailers I have visited so far)

It is the only place that you can get all the limited edition/hard to find sets in one place though and they do seem to be offering free shipping (particularly on orders greater than $100) more frequently nowdays. Also they always seem to be giving away polypags with sizeable orders so if you don't care for what's in the polybag you can flog it online for a "discount". For example last year I got $110 worth of Lego on their May 4 sale with free shipping and a TC-14 Polybag. I ended up getting $45 for the polybag on E-bay which means I effectively got a discount of >40%! Oh - and I redemmed some VIP points for an extra discount as well.

Basically I agree that you can usually find better offers out there but Shop@Home isn't entirely worthless if you strike at the right time.

Speaking of DJs - 2 Grand Emporiums at Adelaide CBD store have shown up. $249.95.

Yep, 20% off at Myers.....picked up a fire station.

The tiger has the latest.......official conformation of Horizon Express for Myers but June/July toy sale is when it will be first offered.

Town Centre is an exclusive, but no idea yet where.....May is the month when the retailer is i.d.'ed.

Hi LT! What's this Town Centre? Did you mean Town Hall, or is it another set I haven't heard of?

TIA!

There is a lego 60026 Town Square being released. It has a crane, a bus, a bike shop and a pizza shop I believe. I'm not sure if anything has been announced.

Thanks for the heads-up! Did a little digging and found some pics on Flikr. I like the bike shop, but I think that the releases of the other subjects a few years earlier were much better, as opposed to the versions in this set. Thumbs up to TLG for doing something different. (Sorry for the off-topic...)

When is the last time K-Mart had a Lego sale, outside of just putting items on clearance?

There are a few sets I am interested in, but I never see a 15 or 20% off type of sale like Target has.

When was the last time Kmart had a catalogue? Many moons, I used to get one every week (a la Target). Last time they had any kind of sale was at the mid-year "layby for Christmas" sales last year. 20% off, not very exciting, as everywhere else was too.

That's what I was thinking. Other than their Clearance items, I can't remember then having a % off sale in awhile.

Even the Clearance items aren't really moving in my local store.
