slopemodified Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Has anyone had experience making a large order from S@H? I'd like to get a few large sets and avoid the additional shipping charges, as stated on their Shipping & Handling page: "Please note that orders over AUD 960.00 may be subject to an additional shipping charge." I'm not sure if that includes shipping. My intended order is $935, plus $45 shipping. There doesn't seem to be any way to tell beforehand if you will incur the extra fee. I wrote an email to Customer Service, but their reply just reiterates the policy and doesn't clarify.
TheDarkness Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I would also be wary about the possibility of incurring a customs and GST fee if you exceed the $1000 mark, especially if Lego are shipping you the sets from overseas.
Fenaughty Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Not sure if you could hold them to this, but TrU has the Z-95 for $31.99 on the website, looks like they swapped the price with the AT-RT which is advertised for $55.99, comes from their 20% off Star Wars sale http://www.toysrus.com.au/lego/w1/i1181094/#T1181398=1853870&T1191964=0_200
shawn_low Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Some Targets are clearing the Monster Fighters Train for $79.
BrettBrick Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I would think that ordering from the Australian arm of TLG would bypass the $1000 import limit as you are already paying the GST. I envy anyone buying $1000 worth of Lego from S@H. You could get it from overseas in smaller lots and probably save 40%. Has anyone had experience making a large order from S@H? It might be a GST issue as you're creeping towards the A$1000 mark and these sets are shipping from overseas. Of course, TLG will probably lose money shipping $900+ of Lego for $45. However, as another user pointed out, if you're ordering that much Lego, even if you paid EUR100 for shipping numerous large sets, you'll still come out on top in terms of savings. Just look on Amazon (.com/.co.uk/.fr/.it/.es/.de) or try Bricklink. Prices are WAY cheaper than the TLG Aussie RRPs.
lightningtiger Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 My advice is don't do the 45 dollar freight, go the top dollar one......my shipment went missing a few years back and Lego had to resend it DHL in the matter of a few days. Pay the extra for the track and trace.....it's worth it especially if you are spending that much cash !

They said it's online orders only but sold out online anyway. My guess is that it will be a pricing error correction shortly.
KartoffelViking Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Some Targets are clearing the Monster Fighters Train for $79. Thanks! I popped by one of my local Targets (Newton, Adelaide) and in addition the Vampyre Castle (9468) was $100 and The Crazy Scientist (9466) was $60.
Kent Productions Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Myer has get your second toy for 25% off till sunday
jonwil Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Myer has get your second toy for 25% off till sunday Not a particularly good deal, its only 12.5% off if you buy 2 items at the same price.
shawn_low Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Myer has get your second toy for 25% off till sunday Actually, it's 50% off a second toy of equal or lesser value till 10 March. :-) So effectively 25% off. Slightly better than the sale over the last weekend. Not as good as the buy two get one free sale...which at the rate they're launching sales, will be on in no time.
jonwil Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Yeah 25% off is better. Not that I want anything anyway :)

I would have thought that TLG Australia would bypass the import limit as well, but the shop website does say that orders may be subject to import fees, but it's not clear. I have looked at buying overseas, but as I'm looking at the Palace Cinema and Horizon Express, the RRP prices seem reasonable enough. My advice is don't do the 45 dollar freight, go the top dollar one......my shipment went missing a few years back and Lego had to resend it DHL in the matter of a few days. I am concerned about shipments getting lost, but what does the top dollar option really get you? The webpage does not say anything about insurance, tracking, or courier, just that they'll expedite it. Edited March 6, 2013 by slopemodified

I went for the cheaper shipping option for my Palace Cinema and it came with tracking, including within Australia. The only downside was the time (it took two weeks).
Rare White Ape Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 My intended order is $935, plus $45 shipping. Just knock a set worth $20 off the order, then buy it locally.
howie28 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Hero Factory is out at my local Kmart. Edited March 7, 2013 by howie28
lostdriveway Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Folks from Adelaide - Anyone know if Toy Corner are having a sale next week or do they do discounts for Eurobricks members? I'll be in Adelaide from next Thursday for a week and hope to pop in to check out what they have!
jonwil Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 For those in the west, Toyworld in Claremont has all 5 TMNT sets (the Baxter Robot Rampage set is a TRU exclusive aparently). No sign of them at MYER in the CBD yet.

KartoffelViking Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 lightningtiger; do you have any updates in regards to Harvey Norman Big Buys and LEGO? You mentioned a while back that they were supposed to start selling LEGO.

RonanSai Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Some Targets are clearing the Monster Fighters Train for $79. Thanks popped into Target Burwood NSW they had 10+ sets not marked down but when i scaned them they were $79, picked up one for my kid :)
calberau Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 lightningtiger; do you have any updates in regards to Harvey Norman Big Buys and LEGO? You mentioned a while back that they were supposed to start selling LEGO. I saw some in the BigBuy in Springvale a few weeks ago, and their prices were RRP. They are flogging accessories etc too for more than what Big W or Target are selling them for.

Doesn't surprise me, Harvey Norman is never the first place I would go for anything, I have yet to see anything HN sells that you cant get elsewhere cheaper.
