And, which is the most reliable store for Lego set availability?

None that I know of. To me they all seem to be missing something.

EDIT: Oops, I didn't notice the 'Up to'

...and if we're lucky there will be one LEGO set on sale. :sceptic: I've given up on Toyworld sales. The last time I got a good deal there was the UCS Batmobile.

Actually, it shows it in the latest catalog. Link http://www.toyworld.com.au/catalogue/catalogue.html

I'm not sure if this is old because the only info I could find about when the sale ends was in the terms and conditions saying prices will be available until 21/3/09. Also at least at the Adelaide toyworld there was no discounted lego last week.

Myer One cardholders (the rewards scheme, not the credit card) got a mailout with vouchers today - for every $75 you spend you get $20 off toys from 2-5 April. It also contained vouchers so friends who aren't cardholders can get the discount too.

A little off topic, but I wanted to share my pain with my friends here :cry_sad:

This is what $100 Express shipping buys you:

When consumers asked Lego to be more economical with packing, this isn't what they had in mind:

Looks like somebody dropped something on the dropship:

The King's Castle Siege ended prematurely when the defences had been flattened before the set could even be opened:

So what do you think I should do? I don't feel like sending this all back to the courier company at my cost and then waiting several weeks for a replacement. Especially when I paid Express shipping.

Sinner, you can move this post to the appropriate place once everyone has expressed their condolences :sadnew:

Svelte_corps, my condolences to you, your family and all your minifigs affected by this tragedy. I don't know what you can do to make this better with Lego as obviously you wanted this stuff quickly but there's no way you should tolerate such bad shipping.

I had the same on my last order. 5 of my Spider droid sets were badly damaged. I had others though to sell later which were thankfully unscathed. All the airbags in the boxes were popped and gave no protection, and the boxes were not filled adequately. Thankfully though the sets damaged I intended to open anyway. I emailed Lego, just to advise them to pack better. I pointed out that I didn't want any replacements or anything, but just that they do need to pack better. They refunded me the $45 shipping fee just the same. It isnt hard, especially when one is spending alot of money, to offer protection on the product

Hmm. :hmpf_bad: That's three people in recent time. I didn't make a complaint at the time, maybe I should have.

(I'll move it this evening.)

The thing is, both the 10188 Death Star and 10189 Taj Mahal were sent inside their own separate shipping boxes, with the latter sent to me INSIDE one of the regular shipping boxes. I don't know who would think placing a heavy set on top of the larger but flimsy lid of another set wouldn't incur damage to the latter set, as happened here. I mean, it's a $400 set! You think they'd take some precautions.

I also made an order a few months back where they 'forgot' to include a Kraken Attackin' :sceptic: Maybe the Czech factory workers are too busy selling their illegally leaked sets on auction websites to pack anything properly

EDIT: hewman, thankyou for your kind words. My minifigs do feel most condoled

10190 Market Street is back from the dead.

I doubt it will last long - Ebay prices are already ludicrous for this one so don't hesitate if you do want this set.

Ah, that sucks. I bought Market Street from Ebay the day before it returned from the dead! $179 with free shipping (the seller is delivering it tomorrow)...oh well, could've been worse. I wanted to jump in and buy mine before the prices really rocketed, since Modular Houses are my fave theme. Damn S@H! SAY "returning on so-and-so date" rather than keeping us all jumping at ebay! It makes business sense.

My commiserations for all the fallen warriors of the March 09 campaign Svelte!

It shouldn't take rocket science to figure out that the heavier set will weigh more than the bigger boxed/lighter set. Obv the couriers don't really care about the quality of delivery. I would refer this to TLC as they are sure to want to know about the quality of the courier service they are paying.

On another note, I recently placed an order, and TLC put two holds on my acct for the same amount, $545, so denying me access to 545 of my own money for almost a week before my bank cleared this up :hmpf_bad: Must have been why they sent it express (without any damage, thought it was dropped in a dawn raid on the driveway)

Back on topic, DJ's has 30-50% off selected toys, I will venture in to see if there are any Lego bargains to be had.

You have to hold your nerve when something is 'Sold Out'. If they don't de-list it immediately there is the possibility that another batch may become available on a limited basis. We don't know if this is a 'real' return or if they just found some more out the back of the warehouse  Since it's been around for 2 years, I suspect the latter.

That seems to be standard practice with certain kinds of card. What happens is they put a hold on your account when you place your order, but only charge you when the order goes through. But that initial 'authorisation' hold (to see if you have the cash) stays around for about a week, as you say.

I've found they only do this with my debit card; real credit card companies seem to be a bit stricter about companies taking their money willy-nilly for no real reason.

Well since only 3 of the 4 10200 Custom Garage were available, they also billed me the $494 dollars whilst the two lots of $545 were holding as well, so suffice to say I wasn't happy about being down $1500 on my acct for a $500 dollar purchase. I have emailed them, but got the Company line spouted with no real apologies for the extra hold

End Rant!

Rang DJ's today and no Lego on sale. :cry_sad:

No one in Australia has Pirates except for the odd impulse set at places like Toyworld.

You will have to wait till July or so, or order of S@H.

a heads up. i know kmart catalog says 15% off lego, but it's probably this weekend (or today only) kmart is having 30% off lego sale. i just got all the 1st half SW and IJ sets! and i scored a MM hypercraft for $56. pretty banged up box though...:thumbup:

lego farm was $125, and after the discount it is $87.50. very good price!
