Legoman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 the new town series is released in Shop@HomeWhat I mean is, they release the price.... Bus with Pizzera is $99.99 Really? It's $100NZ over here, and farmers (NZ department store) has 30% off if you buy 3 or more sets. Is any new Star wars over in aussie yet? Anyone see the new indy sets yet, specifically the big temple of doom one? Its one of the only sets i'm intrested in this year (after hearing about the pricing on the endor bunker...). I would assume this one to be around $200, but i'd gladly pay that for such an iconic set ^^ It should be. It's availible over here in NZ for $180...
jonwil Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 With all the availability of new sets over there in kiwi land and the total lack of anything here in oz, maybe its worth finding someone over there who can buy some sets and send them over here :)
Legoman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I'm more that happy to if your serious, it's just that postage can be a lot. If you don't need the boxes and you do big lots at a time that could work out great! PM me if you're intrested.
jonwil Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 If I was to do it I would be waiting until the City Corner appears as thats the one I really want. In any case from the info I have and from what I know about the way LEGO retailing works in Australia, I expect the reason we havent seen the new stuff yet is that everyone (including Lego Australia and the big retailers) are waiting for the mid-year school holidays and the mid-year toy sales. Saw the 2 castle sets (and the construction guy creator set) in another Toyworld today (and the Market Street) but even at $60, the Castle Drawbridge just isn't worth it. Anyone know of contact details for Lego Australia so we can ask them for info straight from the horses mouth about the release date of the new stuff (Star Wars, Indy, City, Pirates etc)? Worst that can happen is that they dont give us a usefull answer :) Or failing that, anyone in good with someone who works at a Toyworld or something and can find out from them about the release dates of this stuff?

I used to have someone at Lego Aus I emailed a few times, and she was very helpful, however last time I emailed her it didn't go through and I got passed on to overseas where the response to when Pirates would be available was "The pirates line is already available in S@H and we expect it is also readily available at retail outlets in Australia too" This was a reply from around Jan/Feb. Clearly in touch with the Aus market $60 for Drawbridge seems better than $70 to me. I would snap that up.
YG-49 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I must say the bigger SP3 sets have some of the fairest prices I've seen. I never would have thought Pursuit would be $80 or the Enforcer $150

I know our dollar is a bit stronger than yours, but not by much. If it was only say, $150 AUD i would be rapt :P PS: Anyone else a bit ticked at the nerve of lego placing the venator under 'hard to find'? Of course it's hard to find, you only just released it on S@H and it's not in stores yet! Edited June 6, 2009 by TheTacoMan
Svelte Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Well, I had my Lego Club renewal card the other day which means the next issue probably isn't too far away. At this time of year we usually get the midyear catalogue with reasonably accurate release dates for the general release of most new stuff. Almost everything will be out by the July sales (apart from exclusives) - but not to every retailer. I think there's extra confusion this year with the S@H 'can't make up our minds' trouble and that NZ has got everything so early. I did see 10186 Grevious for $70 at K-Mart today, so bargain hunters can wait for another 15% or 20% off sale and score a deal if the same offer applies in your area.

YG-49 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 We have to renew the membership It says $14.95 for a lifetime! So that's why I haven't gotten my issue from last month.
Svelte Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 We have to renew the membership It says $14.95 for a lifetime! So that's why I haven't gotten my issue from last month. Over a certain age, you have to fill in a renewal card each year. It doesn't cost anything. They will send a reminder postcard to you when your time is up, so don't panic yet
Whittleberry Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Uhuh, it's June = LEGO mag month I haven't got my renewal card yet though.
I Scream Clone Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Just got the Big W catalogue. The big toy sale starts in 3 weeks! I hope this year it will be the release of Pirates at nicely marked down prices, just like Castle was last year. For example I got the Orc ship for $68 (retails 99) and the Tower Raid for $36 ($50) though its now marked clearance at Kmart for about the same, though you had to wait a year for that price I expect Kmart will start to plug their sale soon too, last year they got in the Millennium Falcon and AT_AT, what will it be this year?
MicroM Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Yes hopefully the Toy sales deliver some good deals this year. I wonder if KMart might have the Death Star, given recent years somebody will be bound to get this kit (perhaps DJ's). As suggested this might be the time Pirates is released, that would be great, especially at cheap introductory prices. I'd say it's too early for the new wave of SW kits to be part of the sales. And last year I found this best place to get early scans of the catalogues was on baby websites (my Wife spent ages on these leading up to the birth of our little boy) and it seemed like there was someone who knew somebody at the printers or the stores themselves. Those pregnant women were a lot more crazed for sales then us LEGO buyers.

I'm sure there will be some new sets available for the toy sales Heard that Toyworld may have the Endor Bunker in the next few weeks (Supposedly in there Toy Sale catalogue at the end of the month?) saw the 2 castle sets (and the construction guy creator set) in another Toyworld today (and the Market Street) but even at $60, the Castle Drawbridge just isn't worth it.Anyone know of contact details for Lego Australia so we can ask them for info straight from the horses mouth about the release date of the new stuff (Star Wars, Indy, City, Pirates etc)? May I ask which Toyworld you saw the Castle Drawbridge at for $60? Mine's still waiting on there's to arrive. White Pages is your friend for contact details Toyworld is very tight lipped when releasing information, Or most the time the staff don't do the orders and its the manager who knows but won't pass it on to the staff. But give it a few weeks and well see what's in there new catalogue. Edited June 8, 2009 by MinifigHQ
Whittleberry Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 This info came with the latest LEGO Club magazine regarding exclusives: Only at Toyworld 6187 LEGO Road Construction Set 7751 Ahsoka's Starfighter and Vulture Droid 8038 The Battle Of Endor Only at Myer 10189 Taj Mahal 5635 Duplo zoo set 5489 LEGO Vehicle Building set Only at Kmart (July) 10188 Star Wars Death Star 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker Only at Target (July) Spongebob sets 3833 and 3834 10193 Medieval Market Village
DarthSion Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 NO WAY, for real the death star and AT-OT at kmart, damn glad i didnt buy from lego, have to get me the AT-OT when theres a 15% off.
Svelte Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 *snippidy-dip* Excellent news, Whittleberry! I don't have my mag yet. I can't believe Endor is a Toyworld exclusive! That's just wrong... why??? They'll be a mass exodus to the plains for all the SW fanboys who don't have a Toyworld near them. I wonder if that's why the markup ($200) was so high? SW has me so confused, I thought Anakin's Y-Wing would be a $100 set but if you look at the Euro comparison prices it could be up to $150. Good news about the AT-OT and MMV. Definitely worth picking up the latter on sale, I just hope they don't mark up the price before they discount it. Did the mag come with the new catalogue too?

Yeah well actually theres 2 toyworlds near my house. and another one about 20 mins drive away. so its not that bad for me. Im suprised Target got an exclusive set like MMV. Hope its atleast 20% off.
Svelte Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Yeah well actually theres 2 toyworlds near my house. and another one about 20 mins drive away. so its not that bad for me. Maybe it's just a NSW thing, there are no Toyworlds anywhere in Sydney. They're all regional. Nothing exclusive for Big W? Yay! That means I also don't have to trek for miles to find one

Looks like the Endor set is going to be $200 forever, I've never seen any % off sales at toyworlds near me. Those relying on k-mart for a death star, it might be good to keep in mind what happened with the UCS Falcon, each store only got a couple in so you might have to be quick. DarthSion Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Toyworld is like TRU rip off, they never have sales. I wonder if any shops will get this "supposed real" silver/chrome stormtrooper magnet.
TheTacoMan Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I find that strange aswell, i didn't even knew toyworld GOT exclusives? Perhaps they mean Toys R us? Toys R Us would SURELY have at least 1 exclusive, they always do. I really hope endor isn't toyworld exclusive, as there are none that i know of near me Drop ship and AT-OT at K-mart is welcome, i was kinda intrested in that set, but much taken aback by the price. If there is a decent sale, i might pick one up. I already have the death star so meh :P

Svelte Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Can someone who has the new catalogue post a pic of the SP3 Max Security Transport? It's hot news, we haven't seen a pic yet I can't believe that Lego would release one of their sets from the ordinary 'main' line of 6 sets as an exclusive
