Izzy Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Really?, I went there once they had probable abit more then your average toyworld but not much (this was last year) I check there every time we go to Indro (every couple of months) and it has never had the range it's got now. Maybe someone new started working???
MinifigHQ Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Got Toyworld's Christmas Toy Sale catalogue today and was surprised to see that the 3 New Castle sets 7097 Troll Mountain Fortress ($149) 7079 Drawbridge Defense ($69.99) 7078 king's Battle Chariot ($29.99) are all TOYWORLD Exclusive's There goes any chance of a discount on these set's. Sale start's 25th June until the 4th of July.

Svelte Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Thats insane! How do they pull that crap on a whole line of sets? Some heavy cash must have been exchanged!? I officially dislike Toyworld for pulling this and Endor away from possible sales at other stores! It probably just means Exclusive for the July sales. Big W said the same thing about the Castle sets last year and as we all know, they are everywhere. (Same marketing with SP3 and the Venator at the moment.) The catalogue doesn't mention them as being Aus exclusives either, nor did that list that came with the magazine. I wouldn't panic yet

Svelte Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Your a good man svelte! You have soothed me and the reassurance is great....20% off coming to a large retail shop near me! Yes, remember about how I joked months ago about Hoth being a Toyworld exclusive? And then it ended up actually being Endor? Fingers crossed with the Castle sets anyway.
MicroM Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 These exclusives are starting to become tedious. I got a Toyworld catalogue today and in it they have Ahsoka's fighter for $79.95, with a note next to it "don't pay $89.95"...... well Toyworld you're the only one selling this kit, so you set the price. I am really keen for that Troll Mountain Fortress, but have had a hard time justifying buying (giving how much SW stuff there is). When I saw it was an exclusive and I knew it would never be cheap I was somewhat relieved, as I won't be paying $150 for it. But as stated by svelte.... we shouldn't panic just yet, so maybe I'll still have to deal with that dilemma when KMart have it 20% off. I tempted to get that Endor kit soon, I haven't had a new LEGO kit for months and months
Whittleberry Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Meh the exclusives will pop up on ebay. Yes, for unreasonable prices.
MicroM Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Was at my local KMart today and saw they had about a dozen dropships/AT-OT. They had a list price of $449.95. I am surprised by this price, I thought at worse it would be level with LEGO shop. Hopefully they have a good starting discount. The box is huge on this kit, it was impressive, I know I'll shelve out for it when the sale starts (shame they didn't apply the 20% SW discount to it). No Death Stars, only a whole bunch of Separatist Shuttles for the SW range. They did also have a good range of the new City sets. Edited June 21, 2009 by MicroM

I didn't expect them to mark such an expensive set UP, that's for sure! Will probably go on sale for "$100 off - now only $350!" which is a pretty sad showing. It shows that Lego is clawing on to their margins and not passing discounts on to retailers.
DarthSion Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Yeah well if you actually got it from S@H you wouldnt get it that cheap.
Patty Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Well, I guess it depends on how much you buy. My last order was nearly $25k. Still waiting for it to arrive. Been a month. Lego has a new ordering system and stuff just gets lost in the system at the moment. Grrr.
Hewman Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) Toyworld at Norwood in SA had 20% off all stock on the weekend. I don't know if it is still on, and I doubt it is applicable at any other toyworlds. They did have the Ahsoka starfighter exclusive but none of the new castle or star wars sets. (with shipping) 25k?, $25,000?. 25,000 seems abit much...Maybe he meant $2,500?
I Scream Clone Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Target has 20% off Lego till Wed, I think it has been missed in the rush to find out about the big sales coming.

If want to join in on the next group order you're more than welcome. Estimated date for next order is: July 12th We found it best suits those who live in NSW for either pickup or posting via Aust Post cos its pretty much flat rate OR those who only really want one smaller item and don't want to pay S@H's hefty postage costs.
YG-49 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Target has 20% off Lego till Wed, I think it has been missed in the rush to find out about the big sales coming. I think you mean Myer? Well, Myer also has 20% off LEGO including $100 off the Eiffel Tower and Taj Mahal.

So where do we find out more about this community ordering, is it through Bricklink members or somewhere else? At those prices you could almost qualify as a business and save that way too, something to consider I guess.
MicroM Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 BigW no have a preview of their toy sale (spectacular) on line. Its the catalogue without the prices. I do notice that the Venator / Y-Wing and midi- Falcon are shown along with a caption "First at BigW". I said this a few posts earlier, all these exclusives and some sets in some shops is really tedious. In years gone past I've been able to go to one shop and get all the kits I wanted. Now it looks like a few trips to different shops. Anyway here's the link And Space Police is listed as Exclusive to BigW (though no Maximum Security Transport).
