Patty Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 So where do we find out more about this community ordering, is it through Bricklink members or somewhere else? At those prices you could almost qualify as a business and save that way too, something to consider I guess. Not through Bricklink. You can contact me if you want in on it. It's slowly growing. We're trying to get it to the point where we can negotiate for a discount from Lego Shop@Home. Currently its not enough :(
Hewman Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 K-mart's toy sale catalogue will be available for viewing on the 25th, just two days away (a week before the sale starts). I'm very curious about the death star price.

Currently its not enough :( I hope they haven't totally lost your 25K order! After weeks of chasing an order I placed on April 29, S@H just called to admit defeat. It's vanished! Apparently there was some error with a labelling machine for orders processed around that time and labels were incorrectly printed. They have no idea where my order is and wanted me to resubmit a very very lengthy PAB list which I didn't particularly feel like doing, and pay for it again (although they said they'd refund me immediately). Also, since I placed that order, one of the sets has sold out anyway hewman, assuming K-Mart doesn't mark up the Death Star by $100, it will probably be a 20%ish discount of around $550.

Luckily they haven't lost the order. I sent an email at first to chase it up as I had just been overseas for a holiday and wondering why it hadn't arrived yet when I got back to Sydney. I then called them up afterwards. Apparently S@H has a new ordering system in place denoted by the reference number starting with "W" versus the old "X" reference numbers. Sometimes the new orders get put into limbo. Part of that order has already been shipped so its on its way. Better late than never :) It sounds like someone might have gotten some free LEGO?! What a lucky windfall that would be!
I Scream Clone Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I'm very curious about the death star price. LOL, I wonder why?! Nice A Wing btw Hewman. I'm not. I won't be getting it anyway. Face it, it's a big ball'o power tubes with nice figures. I'd like to see if the SPIII impulses will be there, Cheapest set with Snake You may say that, but you are greatly mistaken, this set is crammed full of great stuff, not just figures! If you can afford it, then get one.

It's a once in a lifetime kind of set and an amazing build. So much playability! You won't regret it

If you can afford it, then get one. Thanks. Yes I wonder why I would be interested in the death star, it's like I missed out on it when it came out at the too low price, but I'm sure I remember ordering it, I wonder what could have happened to it. Oh, ISC, good luck with your nomination for the ambassador role. Yes, hewman, great to see your late Invasion entry! The Death Star is definitely a must-have for anyone seriously considering it. It's a once in a lifetime kind of set and an amazing build. So much playability! You won't regret it And congratulations on winning the contest, a fantastic design. But onto something related to this topic, I was at my local k-mart last night, no sign of the big star wars sets but the top shelf was padded with cranes just at the front so I assume that's where the big stuff will go. They had lots of new city cets, the sports car, the city corner, garage and tow truck.
MicroM Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Just read on an Australian SW collecting site that somebody knows a KMart manager who stated that the dropship/AT-OT will be $380. Got to say this is a bit more than I would have liked, but at the end of the day it looks like a great kit, and buying it from retail means know Shop@Home postage (or potential postage issues, given the comments made on this thread latetly). Also at $380, there's no way I can justify a second one, and that is a good thing (for my home life ).

It will probably be at $399 in line with the rest of its pricing schedule for Lego items.

I should have said that the $380 is the price during KMart's sale. Again this was just some speculation I read at another forum, but given they are currently sitting on shelves at $450 that works out at about 15% off, and therefore seems plausible to me.
Svelte Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 The K-Mart catalogue is now up. Pages 36 & 37 for Lego. 20% off. $599 for the Death Star. That's fairly underwhelming for a sale price, considering it was $630 until January. After sale price is $749. AT-OT is on page 4 at $349.

Cheers, that makes the decision about whether to buy or not a lot easier, I'll be passing on that, perhaps I'll have to give in to the urge to get the Endor set. That tub of 1600 pieces for $63 looks like decent value though. Edited June 24, 2009 by hewman
I Scream Clone Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Lets get our dates all set then. Myer 20% off starts thursday 25th June Big W starts 2nd July Kmart 20% off starts 2nd July....server too busy to get on Target starts July 23 No word on anything at DJ's Toyworld don't seem to actually be marking down new stuff, sale is on now though for Castle and Endor. TRU has Twilight, Police station and Power Miners set discounted heavily, and other stuff marked up ridiculously. Did I miss anything? Whats the set number for the 1600 pieces Hewman?
Svelte Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 K-Mart is 2 July start date. The 1600 piece set is this one I think, which makes it the only really good deal of the sale. Just remember people, no deposit lay-by is your friend! You have until Xmas to pay and you can cancel at any time with only the penalty of the layby fee! This is perfect if you're a bit indecisive like me! Let's all stop in here and brag about what bargains we scored too! I plan on heading to Myer tomorrow to use the 20% and then extra 10% to see if there's anything good. Let the games begin!
DarthSion Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Oh shut up, stop running on and on while us poor smucks miss out. I might have to layby something small, i really want the DS but theres just too many good ps3 games this year, its just not fair. I hope third lucks a charm with the stimulus package.
MicroM Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I'm glad I was wrong about that Dropship/AT-OT price, $350 is much more palatable. It is a shame all the kits are dispersed across retailers. I did see the Venator today at BigW, I wonder if there will be any discount on the $198 price? I didn't see any YWings there, and there doesn't seem to be any news on the Hoth or Tank Droid kit (maybe KMart will have them, and hopefully during their 20% off).
DarthSion Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Those who got to see the kmart, 2 questions. 1. when does it end. 2. does it include or exclude games?, cos overlord 2 for the ps3 is due the 6.7.

I did see the Venator today at BigW, I wonder if there will be any discount on the $198 price? Why wonder? The answer is YES Also my local Target filled up on Spongebob, Medieval Market Village and the Pirate range
MicroM Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Why wonder? The answer is YES Also my local Target filled up on Spongebob, Medieval Market Village and the Pirate range You're right, of course it will be cheaper. It is actually quite a nice kit when you look at the box. I even think at $200 it isn't a bad price, anything cheaper makes it really appealing. Great to hear that the Pirate range is out also. I saw these in the UK a month or so ago and wanted to get the Bounty, but it was way too big to bring home. Though with the chance to get MMV at a cheap price, I might be tempted to get that instead.........damn LEGO, too many great choices at the moment.
