DarthSion Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Yeah but lets face it, unless your after an exclusive, why on earth go to kmart, BigW is no deposit lay-by, kmart isn't doing this.
Izzy Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Just scoped out all my local stores today... (didn't buy anything) But, Kmart has all the Cityand some new Indy range, very well stocked, Big W had SPIII and I checked at Target (pre-sale I know) and they have Pirates and Spongebob on the shelves already. First I've seen anywhere.
TheDarkness Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Picked up 2 Republic Tanks at $52 each, and the last Death Star. They put out the AT-OTs today, but I didn't get one. The shelf was filled with battlepacks, I picked them up then decided to put them back since I had already spent over $700
jonwil Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Crowds weren't too bad at the stores I went to today. Still no sign of either of the Space Police III impulse sets or any new indy here in the west. Everything else (including Spongebob, Pirates and MMV at Target and the new Lamborghini) has appeared. Good stock of AT-OTs at both K-Marts I visited, they had the Death Star (one or 2 of each) but it was behind the counter at the service area instead of being on the shelf. Only other item I didnt see was the giant brick box (one K-Mart was sold out and offered me a raincheck though) The Xmas lay-by on all these items (Death Star, AT-OT etc) is a good move by K-Mart, it means they dont need stock on the shelf for people who want todays prices with Xmas delivery.
xNick Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Just got back from Big W Greenhills. Picked up quite a bit. 2 of those Falcons (last two) as well as the Y wing (still a couple left). They had a quite a bit of the clone wars stuff left as well as all the space police stuff. Didn't have the big farm set, but I picked up the combine harvester and the wind farm :)
MicroM Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 In my rush I forget about the BigW LEGO Club membership deal. But they have posted the form on the net, which you fill out and send off with your receipt. I have 2 boys, so this means the youngest will get his own Club membership now (though he is only 1, but I'm sure he'll appreciate when he grows up). Here's the link

"I got you your FIRST LEGO Club Magazine subscription*!! *You'll thank me when you're an addict/older" Edited July 2, 2009 by YG-49
MicroM Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Thats just a "flyer" with info no way of joining. DarthSion, when I click on this link I get the 2 page form, page 1 is the flyer, page 2 has the part where you fill your details out and the address to mail it to.
bright22 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 hi, I double check for the Target catalogue again. Castle Medival Market Village Will be selling $120 during Toy Sales.. I will buy it.... (no need to goto Lego.com!! saving a lot of money after waiting 1/2 year!!! yeah~!~~~!!)
DarthSion Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Not me mate, when i click the flyer its 1 page. Here's a question (to anyone), what happens if you line up at Kmart lay-by go to order say the AT-OT and as it says you don't have to get it from the self, but they are sold out, rain check?. Note to self, find out how rain check means get more stock in.

I only get the first flyer page, already bought the midi Falcon so I'd like to get a second subscription to my parents' address. Decent haul this year -Kmart: Death Star, bunch of impulse castle figures ($4), couple droid battlepacks ($14), UCS grievous ($48) -BigW: midi falcon ($47)

I think when they get more they'll save you one to put in the Warehouse (The Warehouse, The Warehouse, where everyone get's a bargain! )
DarthSion Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 WARNING to anyone wanting the legoclub membership, do not, NOT use foxit reader, it only shows 1 page, you must use adobe acrobat. Just out of curiosity, is there an age limit to the legoclub, just seems odd to put down 1979.

xNick Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Argh! Shouldn't have gone to Kmart :P Picked up another hoard of stuff. Grabbed the rest of the farm stuff I missed at Big W, also got city corner, a bunch of $10-14 city sets. Vader's TIE, Shanghai Chase and the Clone Wars Assault Tank for Yoda. There was also four Death Stars sitting at the front counter when I went (~9ish). I was sure they would be the first to go...
MinifigHQ Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Good stock of AT-OTs at both K-Marts I visited, they had the Death Star (one or 2 of each) but it was behind the counter at the service area instead of being on the shelf. There is a Reason the Death Star is not left on the shop floor the size of the item and the price tag, I for one would hate to see a Toys R Us approach move onto other retailers, where the Lego sets have to be strapped up to stop the boxes being opened. Anyway My Kmart was basically empty, the crowds from previous years definately were not there. The no deposit LayBy being offered by BigW certainly drew the customers and the Layby line was just crazy. Don't think Kmart sold as much Lego as they were expecting. So all I grabbed from Kmart was 2 of the 1600 piece boxes and my daughter got the new power miner set #8963. And of course I got the Wind turbine from BigW. Anyone else notice if there BigW sold out of this set
xNick Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 And of course I got the Wind turbine from BigW. Anyone else notice if there BigW sold out of this set There were a couple left at my local Big W after I got mine. Kmart got stung a couple of years ago with no deposit which is why they aren't doing it now (stung to the tune of ~$10 mil as they had unclaimed laybys and the toys were sold below cost). My Kmart was dead too. Walked straight up to put a layby on without a wait (unlike Big W where I didn't even bother waiting)

I think when they get more they'll save you one to put in the Warehouse (The Warehouse, The Warehouse, where everyone get's a bargain! ) This is what I've heard the origin is. Just out of curiosity, is there an age limit to the legoclub, just seems odd to put down 1979. No; I'm in the club using my real age. However kids automatically renew, adults must confirm (at no cost) each year.
Svelte Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 No; I'm in the club using my real age. However kids automatically renew, adults must confirm (at no cost) each year. I'm enrolled, but my cat is also enrolled, real age 2, so she has 9 years before she has to do the annual renewal thing! Sssh, don't tell anyone.

Siegfried Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Sssh, don't tell anyone. I won't tell anyone, but it won't be a secret for long...
Maverick Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi Guys, Just a question do you think the xxl box is really worth it as from the brick list it mostly consists of 2x2 bricks. thx
Siegfried Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Just a question do you think the xxl box is really worth it as from the brick list it mostly consists of 2x2 bricks. I think it's worth it for me, but it really depends on if you want a lot of basic bricks.
