On another note, does anyone know if the King's Castle Siege (Castle) is in stock for any retailer? I tried looking for this set all over the place and never found anything, not even sure if it's been released or came out awhile ago... Don't want to resort to S@H

You can always try evil-Bay...

It's where someone's trash is another's treasure. On a different note (again), there's another cool castle set out now.... Troll's Mountain Fortress...

(Looks like the topic has changed a bit huh?! hehe)

Maybe try a toyworld, I know I saw it at one in Adelaide a few weeks ago.

Much as it's easy to blame TRU, they don't just magically make up prices. It is illegal for stores to sell items in this country above RRP.

If there have been hikes, ludicrous as they may be with something like Dooku's Solar Sailer, they are done with full cooperation and authorisation from Lego Australia.

I've never heard that before.

anyway i was pleasantly surprised to see the AT-OT was cut a further $50! i bought it for $299. didn't think to actually buy it because of the rip off pricing but for $299... it's pretty good so i grabbed it.

in case it's not national, this special pricing was from the chatswood store. since kmart price match, you might get lucky if you get them to call up the chatswood store to price match!

Because my wife was against the Dropship purchase since the weekend I've been trying to build it from spare parts. (It's hard.) She got sick of me mumbling about how rare some parts are and how I had to break this and that so she went out and bought it for me! It was only $299 so it's probably an Australia wide reduction. Very devious of K-Mart...

Not even TRU has it. you're outta luck. you can try bttw.com.au but they raised the price to $199.

 I got mine for $100 at Target.

...but that was last year. I'd never pay that much for it.

I missed the news of the AT-OT price drop. It seems strange - why not just sell it at that price originally? You think you'd have a lot of annoyed layby customers. Maybe they didn't fly off shelves as expected...

Poor TRU, the most they can muster is an email saying there's a new catalogue out next week. Whoop-de-do!

possibly. thought the price was dropped quite early on, so i think this was preplanned. i agree with siggy...most likely this was a sneaky marketing ploy... cut the price by more than advertised and more ppl will jump on board thinking the cut is temporary.:tongue:

how about the death star? anyone layby that? was it for the advertised $599 or was it lower?

Has anyone spotted City outside of Kmart?

Police Headquarters is available at my local Mr Toys.

Why is it that Belville is never available at Kmart, Target or BigW? I've only seen it at Mr Toys or Myers.

That is the funniest thing I've read in ages... Bahaha! I'm going to try that one one Toodles. *Starts mumbling angrily*

Oh, but there are toooo many pieces I don't have honey!......oh and now I have to wreck my other things to make it.....

Did you put on the pouty face too when the bottom lip sticks out?

At the end of the day it works, and you are the master manipulator of massive Lego purchases!

It's hilarious! I wish the sad eyes and mumbled complaints worked for me. I was lucky to get the crappy Police Pontoon plane as a bday present last year :tongue:

I'm going to resort to hypnotism and see if that works. 'You are feeling sleepy... very sleepy... You will buy Svelte Lego... lots of Lego... more than you can carry...'

*mumble grumble* 'stupid parts... rare... have to break this.. and that' *mumble grumble* 'bah, humbug!'

Does sound pretty sneaky to make a price cut so soon, I'll have to go check it out. If it's indeed nation wide, a whole lot of people will be cancelling laybys.

That's what I don't get, surely this will annoy people who tried to do the right thing and made a Xmas layby? Can you cancel your $349 layby and re-layby it at $299? Maybe it's good for people who live close to their local K-Mart and drop in regularly, but for those who have to travel a bit, it kind of sucks - who knows what the next spot reduction will be? As it is, the catalogue still lists it at $349. To be honest, I'm not surprised by the price drop so much as that it seems to have happened 2 days after the sale began and while it is still ongoing... Maybe it does help 'swinging' voters decide to buy the set, but unless you're constantly dropping into K-Mart and checking the price of that item, how would you even know about the extra discount?

Just came back from my local, the dropship is indeed listed at $299 behind the counter, putting the $100 saving from a $400 set much more in line with the $150/$750 Death Star set. Didn't purchase it, don't have the room/don't need the clones.

But I did pick up a couple of leader class transformers figures for $30 (saving of $60-$70 each)

Yeah that is suspect having the AT-OT at one price then dropping it, think i will go drop my order and relay-by it at the cheaper price.

kmart allows price matching for layby items. so if you layby'ed at $349, you can get it reduced to $299. it said so in the catalog/leaflet.

I never thought retailers would price match themselves

yup, that's what's written there. in 2 weeks if you find a cheaper price elsewhere they will match it...even if on layby.:tongue:

natelite, you are the price-matching king! to be honest, it's not something I've really ever tried, though maybe i should. what do they do, call the other store to see what the price is? do they generally do it during sales, ie if Target has 20% off then K-Mart will match it?

The new Spongebob magnet set is now available for the odd conversion price of 20.74.

My understanding is that they wont price match blanket %off (e.g. 20% off all LEGO) but they will price match specific discounts.

Shop at Home has updated *again*, with new keyrings, T-Shirts (including a SW 10th anniversary one), and the cool Classic Space & Logo Bag.

Also a Belville towel, so maybe this theme isn't as dead as many are saying.

http://shop.lego.com/WhatsNew/ProductsLaunched2009.aspx?va=1

EDIT: How cute! The Space bag comes with a classic red Space fig!

 indeed! I wonder if the parts are removable since I am still yet to get a classic smiley face. :cry_sad:

I wonder if it's S@H exclusive or if we can get it at other places i.e Kmart or Big W.

EDIT: That price is horrible! $41 for a minifig and carry bag!

It wasn't really a pouty face as such, more of a glum face. Then we came home and he started to try making it from his own parts, which just tore at my heart a little...It just looked so pathetic and adorable at the same time, what woman could resist that combination??

Welcome to Eurobricks, keeper of the Walrus!

I hope your other half starts giving lessons in doe-eyes, I had a stern talking to this morning for taking over the dining table with a half-built 10196 Carousel.

'Pathetic and adorable', eh? Sounds like someone needs a new title  I hope one of the other admins notices...
