natelite Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 There's a 20% off storewide TRU deal from Friday to Sunday if you have a coupon (for those subscribed to their emails). See attachment. So Solar Sailer is down to $92. Woo! not interested. TRU sucks. edit: actually i just figured out what i can use the coupon for! impulse sets! tru has much better selection and usually has plenty so they don't run out that quickly. other places usually run out by the time any sales event started. the only catch is that tru goes out and hide them.
TheTacoMan Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Jesus christ, never order from S@H, their shipping time SUCKS! I've been waiting almost 3 weeks for an order, the Indiana Jones temple of doom (which i can't find in any stores!). I mean, it's bad enough that they charge you so much ($35! Ebay would charge half that), but it takes them so long to send it out! Ridiculous.

That's pretty standard, and it's what they tell you when you order. The reason why is because it's sent from either Denmark or the UK.

That's what I was thinking too, it'd be a great opportunity to grab some impulse sets, so I'm crossing my fingers that my local toys r us doesn't get the urge to put all the impulse sets out the back. About the only thing I can think of that might be a reasonable price that isn't available elsewhere would be the Agents' volcano set. Pity the Home One isn't available, 20% off that would be brilliant. Addition: Myer One card holders (not sure if you have to have a certain level of membership or not) this weekend get an extra 15% off toys, they say this is on top of any discounts, which for Lego is currently 20%, so all up, ths would work out to be a 32% discount which isn't too shabby. I am thinking about it too..... if you want to buy Construction Site again.... will it be 99 x 0.85? = $84.15? how can other department store can beat them this time???
Strand Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 That's pretty standard, and it's what they tell you when you order. The reason why is because it's sent from either Denmark or the UK. Yeah, but with replacement pieces (I was missing a few 1x6 flat pieces and a few other tidbits in the Death Star), I put in the customer service form last week and the pieces just arrived today with less than 6 days shipping. Sure a whole set is larger, but it shouldn't take that long.
I Scream Clone Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I think the replacement parts come from Australia sometimes if they have the stock available, not to mention they are mailed out letter size which is always quicker than parcel post.
Siegfried Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I think the replacement parts come from Australia sometimes if they have the stock available, not to mention they are mailed out letter size which is always quicker than parcel post. Yes. Most of mine has come from Australia.
Svelte Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Yes. Most of mine has come from Australia. Really? Wow! *None* of mine have been from here. Mainly the UK!
MicroM Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 SW AT-OT is now a mere $449.99 at K-Mart They will fly of the shelves now.
TheTacoMan Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 SW AT-OT is now a mere $449.99 at K-Mart Is that after sale?
Strand Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 SW AT-OT is now a mere $449.99 at K-Mart Sarcasm? or Typo?
TheDarkness Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Sarcasm? or Typo? Sarcasm. A $150 increase is ridiculous
Siegfried Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Sarcasm? or Typo? That's the after sale price. I suspect they'll sit on the shelves for months... but heavy reductions are possible.
natelite Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 That's the after sale price. I suspect they'll sit on the shelves for months... but heavy reductions are possible. if the at-at is anything to go by, you'll need 6 mths b4 this thing drops 50%... maybe then you'll see it go for $200
jonwil Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I spotted the little green tractor in Toyworld Fremantle yesterday for $4, no purchase required, they were just sitting there in a box in the lego section. Great way to stock up on tan fedoras and/or green overalls if you need more.

Yeah... I saw those in my local Toyworld and it didn't occur to me that I do want more tan Fendoras! I should get one!
Hewman Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 The new troll and dwarf battle packs are up at shop at home, $19.99. A little more expensive than the knight and skeleton packs were $16.99, but not too bad at $4 a fig plus accessories.

Not bad value and considerably more interesting than the Crownie/ Skele packs in terms of figs and accessories.
Hewman Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Just been to Target and discovered they've covered up all the special sale lego, so you can't purchase now. It looks like there'll be plenty of pirates and MMVs available at elast at the start of the sales. I did notice lots of spongebob sets on display still. Toys r us Adelaide had a pitiful selection of Lego today. Choice of about 3 impulse sets, bbq stand, police dog and mini cement mixer one, no pirates or castle. Star wars battle packs are now $22 before discount. I left and handed my voucher over to someone that looked like they might actually use it.

TRU is shameless. I'd prefer to pay the retail direct to Lego and shipping from S@H rather than encourage them in any way, esp. with exclusives.

I'm with you, I can understand a small independent toy store without huge buying power having to jack up prices a little, but a company the size of toys r us doing the same is ridiculous. There were many other examples of sets being well above RRP. I think I'll wait for my tax return and put a big S@H order in and grab myself some minifig and magnet packs as well as the hard to find star wars sets.
Whittleberry Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Really? Wow!*None* of mine have been from here. Mainly the UK! That's surprising to hear, I'm pretty sure all of mine have been stamped with Danish post office stuff.
DarthSion Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Thats because no one goes to TRU here unless they want an exclusive, its not like they do well here not as many shops like kmart. And still its not too bad, the SW BP on ebay average 27 without shipping. How much is TRU flogging Endor bunker for.
