DB24 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 kmart in greensborough has just received new stock. the creator fire truck is there, and some star wars stuff that i don't really take notice of. from memory, the new sets are: Anakin's Y-wing Starfighter, Echo Base and i think the Millenium Falcon. i'll have a better look when i go in on saturday.
MinifigHQ Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 My local Toyworld now has the following sets: 7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid 7749 Echo Base 7778 Millenium Falcon 8036 Separatists Shuttle 8037 Y Wing Also had the new Power Miners 8962 Crystal King (Also at toys R Us Morley) 8964 Titanium Command Rig and the price on the Battle of Endor is now $249.99 R.R.P at this Toyworld
Siegfried Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Based on all the stores I visited recently (including several Targets, a K-Mart and a TRU) I can say that all the police bikes out there are the black sticker kind I can confirm that the ones in my local Target have black/green stickers going by the box. It's all odd though as this must mean that TLG has made a new batch... Yea, I don't understand the whole thing about Shop@Home operating from Denmark. It costs them heaps to come here since they get shipped first from Denmark to UK, then from UK to Australia. It's nuts! Not really. By operating out of Australia it's cheaper for them as they don't need as many Australian staff. We pay the postage afterall... and the price on the Battle of Endor is now $249.99 R.R.P at this Toyworld I hope that's a mistake.
MinifigHQ Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Nope no Mistake on the Battle of Endor, The price Tag definately says $249.99 ( Guess it'll be the shelf warmer in the store) Went to Target and they had a lot more Lego in pretty much the same as toyworld except they had 8039 Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser and the Creator Family Home 6754. These were the other sets Target had 7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, 7749 Echo Base, 7778 Millenium Falcon, 8036 Separatists Shuttle, 8037 Y Wing and the 2 newer Power Miner sets, 8962 Crystal King, 8964 Titanium Command Rig. So target is the place to be with 20%off running for another week
kaka1987 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) 249 for Endor? crazy... i saw that begins with 199$, and if now turns to 249...which means it mark up 50$.... i wont buy any lego from Toyworld from now on...i just feel like being stolen 50$ from them. also i saw 230$ for Venator class in K-mart as well, and ..which i feel reidiculous... it seems they started to sell lego in that way ...first mark up the price, then give you guys 15-20% off... great~such an amazing pricing strategy... i will be happy if i am K-mart CEO, not being a customer Edited July 30, 2009 by kaka1987
Hewman Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Just went to Target Adelaide and picked up two Echo bases at 20% off, $32 each, not too bad value I must say, only two left on the shelf when I left. Plenty of tank droids and mid-scale falcons there. Huge box for the echo base, it's 3.5 times the volume (yes I calculated it from the measurements on bricklink, 3.46 to be precise) of the rebels battle pack, for not a whole lot bigger set.

That's because the average consumer isn't as crazy as I am. I understand it needs extra room for the taun-taun but it is way over the top. It was a bit emabrrassing at the check-out with the guy trying to squeeze two into the bag for me, while I tried to act like I wasn't a guy over 30 that was buying toys for himself. TRU are insane, weren't Big W selling this for about $180 a couple weeks ago and I'm sure k-mart will have a similar price at some stage.

I think the width of the separately packaged Taun-Taun parts (especially the large body) means that this box is wider than the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid. The real estate problem is really in the frontage!

TheTacoMan Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Anyone who missed out on the $299 Dropship and AT-OT, i'm seeing it pop up on ebay regularly for about that much. Also, echo base at $250 makes it only $50 less than dropship + AT-OT! Insane!

Also, echo base at $250 makes it only $50 less than dropship + AT-OT! Insane! It would be a sore day for anyone who paid $250 for a taun-taun Echo base isn't all that good value for $40 tbh, it's barely any larger than the average battlepack at twice the price. I'll still prob pick up a 2nd one for a taun-taun, but the new Rebel goggles rule. I got an extra one in my set.
Beej Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) Checked out my local Target, Kmart, Myer and TRU tonight in northern Melb. Target and Myer are still wiped out with all the good sets gone. Kmart have the Fiery Legend, Fire Rescue and Family Home creator sets, it took all my will power not to take a Family Home away with me! I'm hoping Target will get them in before their sale is over. TRU's prices are shocking. Everything is 10 to 25% above RRP. Edited July 30, 2009 by Beej
jonwil Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Toyworld in Subiaco and K-Mart in Inaloo both seemed to have stock of all the Power Miners except the base thing (which isn't out yet), all the new SW that isn't exclusive and the new Creator including the family home, red dragon, car carrier and I think the fire truck (not sure on that one though, the others were definatly spotted). Target in Inaloo seemed to have stock of the Star Wars and Power Miners as well as the red creator dragon. Based on what I saw (and what I heard from other targets on the phone, it looks like stock of all the creator sets is out there at Target, its just a matter of whether your store has gotten any yet and/or whether they have sold out (going to ring around tomorrow to find out if any Target stores I can get to have the Family House in stock) Also, the Toyworld in Subiaco had (in addition to still having stock of the Market Street), stock of the Star Justice. Not the Space Skulls, the Star Justice. Didn't take notice of price though (since I already own a Star Justice)

natelite Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 family home creator set is way overpriced. the aussie price is > 2x the us price. that's unheard of except for selected few SW sets. i would wait a little. as for the power miners base set, i thought i saw a few in target. if desperate, get them now from the target toysale for 20% d/c. otherwise i would wait for kmart or myer (for 25-30% off). i'm going to wait for kmart sale for the echo/droid tank sets. yeah, i'm cheap.

I imagine Family Home is like the Ferry Creator set from last year - officially retailing at $120 but pretty much every retailer discounted it steeply at some point, with Myer and K-Mart having it down to about $80.

I have to say maybe if they did opertate from here they would probably get more orders, and make more money in the long run.
jonwil Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I bought the house today at the Target sale figuring that whilst it may come down in price below $100 in 6 months or 12 months or something, its not likely to go below the Target price between now and when I build the house I plan to build with its parts.
Beej Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Can I ask anyone who has seen it what price Target have the house at?
jonwil Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 My copy was purchased for 103 or so. Worth it if you can find a Target that has stock. (anyone in Perth, try Midland, they had stock left after I bought mine)
Whittleberry Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I went to my Target today, and they had a restock of the early 09 and some 08 sets. Indy Temple Escapes, Castle Troll Wagons, Tower Raids all restocked. Some pirates stuff had also been restocked, but only the Fort and Cannon Battle. No sign of the Bounty. I'm still waiting eagerly for the new Indy and SW sets...
Siegfried Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I have to say maybe if they did opertate from here they would probably get more orders, and make more money in the long run. I agree... but I'm not sure if they want that; it'd really piss off the retailers.
