I can't see the Hoth Base being released in other stores. Mind you, I didn't think the AT-AT UCS was supposed to either, and then they pop up all over K-Mart (much cheaper than what I got mine for too)

Not suprisingly no new sets here, but that is no shock. What K-Mart will charge for them will be ridiculous too I imagine

Well......

the sales are all over (though K-mart has 20% off every couple of months) - :classic:

so now we might finally see an Australian retail release of the Agents Theme....

Did not purchase any of the larger sets myself in the HUGE discount sales, a hundred dollar discount on a set that is already a few hundred is a great saving, but still a little too 'rich' for me, (got bills, rent to pay, gotta eat, occasionally etc) .

i did pick up a whole lot of smaller sets very cheaply though (most of the Exo-Force theme etc.) , so the sales were good for me too.

Whilst watching parents violently battle over SpongeBob and Police sets i got to thinking,

it would be of deep interest to me to find out how much the famed "Lego Dark Age" that occurs during the life of many Lego fans is due to often blamed social pressures (peers, sports, girls) , and how much it is actually due to the need to devote ones OWN income to the Lego hobby...

hmmmmm..... :sadnew:

I cured my lego dark age by getting a higher paying job...sadly with more money and therefore more responsibility i have less time with the Lego. My wife is very supportive of my hobbie but things will change again with bubs number two expected soon.

I am getting ready to pounce on the CW sets that have been recently stocked in my local target store. I am eagerly waiting for the catalog hoping there will be a sale that coincides with the new movie.

I just got back to Sydney after 2 weeks away - so I missed all the Clone Wars August 1 release hype - I had a little wander today and I couldn't believe how quickly all the CW stuff must have sold.

In Bondi Junction, between a Target, Myer, David Jones and a K-Mart I only found four sets - 1 V-19 Torrent and 3 AT-TEs.

The Moore Park TRU photographed above didn't have any V-19s or Magna Guard Starfighters but lots of the other August releases. I am also surprised they've followed the US habit of upping the retail price - to me that destroys any goodwill they generate with exclusives and special offers. I can't remember them doing this before.

Sydney CBD was just as desolate - about 6 AT-TEs in David Jones but nothing anywhere else!

Quite amazing. I don't remember any SW release of the last few years vanishing quite so quickly.

Thought it was only TRU exclusive....we are talking about the Hoth Base right? :sceptic:

Forget about the Star Justice set,

the Hoth base is a far superior set,

and much better value also...

Maybe a lot of stores didn't get much in at all, so far ive only seen them in DJ's at Wollongong, TRU doesn't have any in (though they did have heaps of x-wings and hoth bases)

TRU has the 7675 AT-TE on sale for $130 and the 7681 Separatist Spider droid $10 off back to its actual retail price of $40!

K-Mart seems to be getting stuff in, if in batches. One had the AT-TE for $145 and another had the Gunship for $169 with nothing else from the CW range in either store.

I went to Westfield Garden City at Mt. Gravatt last night and......wow, what a night of surprises!. I went to TRU, David Jones, BigW and Kmart. David Jones were only just unpacking the new SW sets as I arrived and one of the staff brought out a Gunship for me to see as I was checking out the Lego section :). There's a lot of info so I'll format my post in list form:

Toys 'R' Us: Very impressive large white 'Clone Wars' setup with cut-outs and standees at the front of the store. Star Wars Lego, Hasbro and Revell toys all sprawled across a massive wall

  • 7676 - Republic Gunship: $189
  • 7675 - AT-TE Walker: $129 (on sale until September 1st)
  • 7674 - V-19 Torrent: $99?
  • 7681 - Separatist Spider-Droid: $39 (on sale until September 1st)
  • 7680 - The Twilight: $159
  • 10144 - Sandcrawler: $250
  • 7666 - Hoth Rebel Base (very well-stocked)
  • 6212 - X-Wing (2006) (crazy well-stocked)
  • Hasbro Millenium Falcon (review) - $200 (1 left, on sale until September 1st)
  • Hasbro AT-TE Walker - $169 (on sale until September 1st)

The reason I mention the Hasbro toys is because I think they would really appeal to Lego fans. I haven't bought a Star Wars toy since I was a little kid but these two vehicles are just way too cool, and the Falcon is almost as big as the 5000pc Lego version. Check out some of the videos on Youtube.

BigW:

  • 7676 - Republic Gunship: $162!!

  • 7675 - AT-TE Walker: $138? (too busy resisting urge to buy $162 gunship)
  • 7681 - Seperatist Spider and possibly 7674 - V-19, but memory is hazy
  • Hasbro Millenium Falcon: $196! (1 left, sitting very prominently high atop a stand of toys)

Kmart:

  • 7676 - Republic Gunship: $169
  • 7675 - AT-TE Walker: $145
  • 7681 - Separatist Spider-Droid: $38?

David Jones: Now, this is where it gets really interesting. I didn't buy anything, but as I left the toy section I noticed some small signs advertising 25% off about 5 toy brands/types (Star Wars, Thomas Tank Engine, Barbie, etc). It didn't mention Lego, so at the time I figured they must have meant ONLY the standard (ie. Hasbro) SW toys.

However, looking back, I realised that they could have meant any SW branded toys. This would mean that the $180 Republic Gunship at 25% off = $135!. I'm going to give them a call at lunch in a couple of hours to find out more:

  • 7676 - Republic Gunship: $179
  • 7675 - AT-TE Walker: $149
  • 7674 - V-19 Torrent: $99
  • 7681 - Separatist Spider-Droid: $39

Apologies for the fluctuating quality in details, but I did conclusively note that I saw no MagnaGuard Starfighters, Fighter Tanks or Droid Gunships in any store. If anyone needs more specific details, I'd be happy to help

EDIT: Just rang David Jones and unfortunately, it only applies to direct Star Wars toys and SW Lego is still at full-price (I think I heard the assistant scan a set) :cry_sad: . I will not pay full price for Lego, carn sarn it!

Lol radiant we share the same "local" [i live 15 mins away] TRU Which is the TRU i talked about in my above post i told you it was stocked to the brim with Hoth Bases and X-Wings!

Im hoping to get my Hoth Base from there- it seems more stocked with them then when they were released last year!

Oh and thanks for the updates  glad to see a fellow FOL lives near by

Doh, I'm silly, I just repeated what you said! .I kept thinking your TRU was on the Gold Coast as you live there. I'm not completely familiar with the South-West  . I actually decided to go to Garden City totally on a whim for late night shopping, as I've been dying to go there for years, but the public transport was very bad where I used to live a year ago. I just caught a bus after work and it was surprisingly quick. I rarely get to go to a TRU so it was pretty fun for me!

I'm going back in a week or two and I'll pick up a Hoth Base and X-Wing  . I was initially turned off the base, but I've really warmed to it's cuteness.

I don't mind the Hoth Base having recently acquired a few boxes, but it really isn't an interesting build. The minifigs are the main thing though we didn't need another Pilot Luke. I'd have preferred another Snowtrooper or Hoth Trooper. I don't think much of K-3PO too since I am being critical of the set, these are simply glorified Battle Packs with a price to match

You might get $15 back out of the $100 for it, hardly worth it. Especially when you may only end up with a speeder and a wall :cry_sad:
