Svelte Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 At least you can rest content in the knowledge that they may well up the price again by $50 in another few months (a la Toyworld with Endor) and then deign to 'discount' it by 20-30%. What's happened to all the retailers? They never used to be this bad! I haven't been to a TRU for a while - with their 'sale' ended, are their non-exclusive sets still sitting above RRP?

Yep Dooku's set was $115 still, and that other star wars exclusive (spider droid?) was $50, instead of RRP of $40. Edit: I also saw the Star Justice set at Adelaide Toyworld, $89.95. Heaps of copies there. They also had Market street (the factory set) for $139.95. Edited August 7, 2009 by hewman
Siegfried Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I'll wait until the new Christmas sets are out and add one to my order from Shop at Home. Me too. As usual that price is silly... and I bet Svelte is right.
Strand Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 The Home One (7754) is now at Toys R Us (well Adelaide store at least), now for the catch, the *****s (if I said what I really thought I'd get banned and I'd prefer not to) there are pricing it at $199.99. I'm sort of glad at the price because it meant I wasn't tempted at all to hand over my cash to those ******s. I'll wait until the new Christmas sets are out and add one to my order from Shop at Home. Welp. It looks like we got screwed either way. Well, at least the 'good' thing is that we don't have to bother searching around for a better priced competitior, being an exclusive. I'll see if my local has it and I'll pick up a set, though I'll probably wait around for a discount before I get a second.
xNick Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Walked into my local Big W a couple of days ago and noticed they had all their Bionicle on clearance (at ~35% off for all sets), so if you are into that stuff then you might want to head in and have a look :)
Maverick Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Just got my Market st from Toy Kingdom today. $129 so not price gauged. Anyway it seems Market st is at its end of life as it is not available from S@H so grab it while you can.
Strand Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Just caved in and picked up a Home One today. Every TRU's stocking them at $200 bananas, so $20 on top of S@H. As a set, it's awesome. Better than (the equally priced) Endor. Lego should make a thing with these large playsets + 1 small vehicle sets. Really nice bunch of minifigs, only thing that gets to me is the A-wing pilot, which hasn't changed in 3 iterations. I hoped that this time they would have given him one of those brown 'leather' cap things that Ten Numb came with in the B-wing (the kind you see the A-wing pilots with in ROTJ). The A-wing is amazing and if I had the parts, would definitely get around modding my other A-wings in this 'engine block' style.
TheDarkness Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Was disappointed to come back from Hawaii with not a single Lego set. I hit a few stores, Wal-Mart was a waste of time with no new sets, Toys R Us had a few of the new ones, but all pretty well priced, and other stores just had minimal stock which had no interest for me. I had been hoping to pick up the Falcon UCS but no one had it in stock, saying they couldn't sell them so sent them back! Assassin droid and rebel battlepacks were at TRU ($15.99 US before tax!) no Echo Base sets, $40 spider droid sets, $30 hailfire, and the Home One set was at $129, $20 over S@H! Anyway was happy to come home and find ab Echo Base set to add to the collection

Siegfried Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Found the new Technic Wheel Loader 8265 at K-Mart in Parramatta last night for $132 Oh! So that's why they have been turning up on eBay for list. Must... resist.... Chrome stormtrooper now available from S@H for $AUD10.99 for pointless bling enthusiasts If it last till my next order I'll get one! It's not that useful though...
DarthSion Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I see the chrome is back in stock, it had disappeared there.
u98925 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 so cheap! was it % off? No that was the standard price -
dotmike Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No that was the standard price - Good to see a Lego fan is also an iPhone fan! The autofocus camera in the new 3GS is handy for things like this, if it helps give you an excuse to upgrade!
DarthSion Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 What makes you say that, i can take photos with my 3110c.
dotmike Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 What makes you say that, i can take photos with my 3110c. Just that the metadata of the photo shows it was taken with an iPhone. I thought it funny because I also often snap pics of Lego sets on shelves and their prices to decide later what to buy! The iPhone is a good companion for Lego: the relatively large screen running a PDF reader app makes a great way to view the instructions books downloadable from lego.com. So if you've lost one, or are re-building one of the kids' sets (who WILL have destroyed the booklet), you can sit it at the table and flick from page to page. So when not bargain hunting, it's handy too.
Siegfried Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Please, less Apple fanboy talk. I just ate...
Whittleberry Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 My local DJs just restocked! No sale though. Oh well, at least they havent entirely given up on LEGO. The new Star Wars and Creator sets are now there.
DarthSion Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 (edited) Please, less Apple fanboy talk. I just ate... I vote for best line ever. People often ask what the i stands for, i say its idiot to pay those prices. Back on topic, does anyone know if we will see any more sets this year, some of the people in the SW thread seem to be saying maybe late this year or next year and i really want a freeco bike. Patty Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I really want to get that 10199 Creator Christmas set they apparently are only selling in Japan....
Darth_Legois Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Anyone else seen those little tractors for $4 at toyworld? Mine doesn't have any...
Svelte Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I really want to get that 10199 Creator Christmas set they apparently are only selling in Japan.... Pics and news were first found in Japan (like the Carousel), but I'm 99% sure this will be a normal release via S@H I think that usually the Xmas themed sets (advent calendars, magnets and so on) are available around about October, so really not that long to wait.
Svelte Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol 3, the Lego ruler and a post-it note block are all new at S@H.
