Svelte Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 bttw.com.au stocks the SP3 Impulses for $1 over retail and $5 shipping per order if you're desperate.
MinifigHQ Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Still no sign of the Space Police impulse sets anywhere here in Perth :( Midland Toyworld $4.99 each
I Scream Clone Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Big W and Kmart have sales starting Thursday for a week. Kmart is 15% off Lego. The Big W prices are all cheaper than Kmart except the largest SP3 set ($3 more). Kmart will match all of Big W's prices though. I have the Kmart catalogue at home but it isn't online yet for some reason. Also noticed Target has 10-40% off all Toys, no catalogue other than front page pic.

Kmart calls theirs "Bricktober" Good time to get some of the newer sets that have just come in during the last few weeks.
DarthSion Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I have the BigW leaflet and it shows space police, i also have target but it doesnt show a single piece of lego.
YG-49 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I have the BigW leaflet and it shows space police, i also have target but it doesnt show a single piece of lego. Nup, it only says "*Insert xxxx amount here*% off all toys.
jonwil Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Midland Toyworld $4.99 each Thanks for the info, I will check out some Toyworld stores closer to me (like Fremantle) sometime soon. Has anyone seen any worthwhile discounts on the large Agents 2.0 Robot set?

Both Space Police Impulse sets are at Big W QV in Melbourne. $4.88 each.
Strand Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 If you're searching for SP Impulse sets, don't be afraid to go digging around. My Big W had mounds of impulse sets from pirates, castle, city etc and after a bit of looking I found 3x K9 sets right at the bottom, buried under mounds of other stuff.
TheDarkness Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 The AT-OT was on clearance at my local K-Mart for $250, with their current sales it dropped to a mere $212.50 :o
Svelte Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 The AT-OT was on clearance at my local K-Mart for $250, with their current sales it dropped to a mere $212.50 :o Ja, I saw that too It looks like they restocked as well, since I haven't seen any in my local K-Mart since the July sale. I wonder what the mark-up must be if K-Mart can presumably still make a profit on these at this price? Any retail experts around? Definite bargain And at my local, it wasn't marked as clearance either, which means you can layby them at that price There is hope for the overpriced Tantive IV set yet! It's just a shame it's such a lottery about which sets hit this sort of steep discounting.
Darth_Legois Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) The AT-OT was on clearance at my local K-Mart for $250, with their current sales it dropped to a mere $212.50 :o $212 AUD?!! Are you kidding?! That's amazing! I wish I didn't make that $150 BL order the other day. I'll have to go check my local Kmart Fingers crossed! Edited September 28, 2009 by Darth_Legois
Patty Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I wonder what the mark-up must be if K-Mart can presumably still make a profit on these at this price? Any retail experts around? There's no way in hell K-Mart can be making money on the AT-OTs. It's a loss-leader to induce customers to come in-store. I do a lot of price matching of Sydney stores but I don't price match loss-leaders. Bargain for you guys!
TheDarkness Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 I have learnt a few times simply to wait it out. I very rarely buy sets at RRP anymore and when I manage to fight the need to impulse buy can pick up sets near 50% off when K-Mart do their thing. Of course, sometimes, you luck out this way but considering not long ago people were saying that $295 for this set was a bargain, I'm happy with the purchase. Now do I buy another just to sell the walker, as I mainly want the dropship to connect to my current AT-TEs $212 AUD?!! Are you kidding?! That's amazing! I wish I didn't make that $150 BL order the other day. I'll have to go check my local Kmart Fingers crossed!
DarthSion Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Actually if you plan to get the AT-OT and get the discount dont, its a clearance item and cant be lay-byed or get the extra discount.
Svelte Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Actually if you plan to get the AT-OT and get the discount dont, its a clearance item and cant be lay-byed or get the extra discount. Not true! I layby'd a spare for $212.50. It wasn't clearanced, and the salesperson checked. Maybe it varies store by store.
DarthSion Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Well thats what i have been told several times in different stores.
TheDarkness Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) Only once here have I not received discount on an item on clearance at the scanner, which they fixed at the checkout. I think though it was because the lady saw the 15% off in the catalogue and not the item in question in it :p I know here though, everything gets a further discount if it is already on clearance, so I am happy to take it. I am hoping soon to see another Death Star set pop up heavilly discounted Edited September 30, 2009 by TheDarkness
natelite Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 retail margin is quite high. a quick search shows around 35-38%. for big retailers the margin should be larger since TLG would give kickbacks and incentives or deals for achieve sales target etc. problem is we aren't sure the 35-38% discount is applied to which MSRP price. the ATOT was priced quite differently several times before. for them to start the discount so early would suggest to me that they are still making profit. i dont see any atot and death star in the kmart near me though.
Svelte Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 i dont see any atot and death star in the kmart near me though. I hadn't seen the AT-OT since the July sale, so they'd definitely restocked. I never saw the DS at all! And $AUD109.99 for the 10199 Winter Toy Shop! What! Since it's GBP39.15 and 60 Euro, even without the favourable exchange rate a pricepoint of $AUD99.99 would have been the uppermost limit I'd expect to pay. I bought 2 off a US Bricklink seller, so with shipping it ended up $AUD250 - still less than S@H with it's snail-crawl shipping Not impressed at all.
DarthSion Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Just got the free lego club membership from the bigw promo, its really not meant for anyone past "eww girl gems" stage is it. The advent calendar thing looks ok, i wonder what the 9 mini figures are.
Svelte Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Just got the free lego club membership from the bigw promo, its really not meant for anyone past "eww girl gems" stage is it. This was a pretty poor issue, but sometimes they have sweet stuff. And you usually get one cool thing (small set or keychain) a year, as well as the retail catalogues. I actually like the mag comics! (Not the Bionicle ones.)
DarthSion Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Ah i see, i got a thick rubber band with lego on it, and some bionical comic. I was hoping it might have had some info on the star wars visual dictionary due out soon.
Svelte Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Ah i see, i got a thick rubber band with lego on it, and some bionical comic. The band is just for joining - something else will come along Sometimes they have cool alt-builds as well. Issue 4 last year had a cute T-22 Armoured Airspeeder made from AT-TE parts.
DarthSion Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Ah ok cool, cant really complain not like I had to pay for it. Anyone ordered and received the advent calendar thing?.
