Strand Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Nothing will go as crazy as Batman did. Not even MISB old SW prices hit the roof like Batman has. Everyone sort of knows Indy is dead so those who want to stock up will have had plenty of time to prepare. Batman went insanse since they didn't do a second production run of the 08 sets, so everybody who had put the (frankly mediocre) sets on their 'Buy later' lists got a nasty surprise when they sold out the first round. I'm sure Indy will increase, but not at a level comparable to Batman. Lego still can't even clear the Indy sets from S@H unless they go on sale c: So you're saying the Batman Tumbler I grabbed half-assedly is actually worth something? Nice. That said, I'll be visiting both local Kmarts tomorrow to see what other crazy deals they might have. And major props for Imperial Flagship, I'll be definitely grabbing that online, I'm terrified as to what the Aussie RRP for that thing will be.
natelite Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 for those of u interested in power miners, the underground mining station is on sale in tru for $59.99. 3 days only - 27 to 29 nov. that's cheaper than even us pricing!
Svelte Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 c: So you're saying the Batman Tumbler I grabbed half-assedly is actually worth something? Nice. And major props for Imperial Flagship, I'll be definitely grabbing that online, I'm terrified as to what the Aussie RRP for that thing will be. Yes indeed! Especially if you kept it MISB! I think that's one of the higher priced ones, since the release coincided with Joker hysteria. I really don't see how they can price the Flagship. 2009 Jan and March releases - MMV and Emerald Night - $US100 and GBP70 - $AUD 150 2009 September Releases - Tantive IV and Fire Brigade - $US150 and GBP100 - $AUD280 If the Flagship is $180 and GBP140, that tells me that it has to be substantially more than $AUD280 - it's a difference of at least $US30 and GBP30 - say $50 minimum. But LEGO hates pricing things not in neat, round numbers which might suggest to me they'll just round it up to $AUD350. The 10196 Carousel is $US250 and GBP166 and $AUD400 so this pricing structure I've outlined actually isn't far out of whack in terms of UK pounds but doesn't make sense in terms of $US. Which is why I really don't know which way they'll swing. The other anomaly is that the price in Euros is supposed to be 150, which is the same as the Fire Brigade and Tantive IV We seem to have our prices calculated more off the pound/ US dollar than the Euro however. Of course, LEGO's bean-counters may have made a pricing adjustment due to the exceptionally strong dollar but I'm not holding my breath. My best guess is it will be $AUD300 at the lowest range and $AUD350 at the upper. I imagine that if the dollar is strong, buying it from the US will be a very attractive proposition once distribution amongst BL sellers is more widespread. You can see I've thought about this way too much! for those of u interested in power miners, the underground mining station is on sale in tru for $59.99. 3 days only - 27 to 29 nov. that's cheaper than even us pricing! Thanks for the news! I probably would have got this if K-Mart hadn't cleaned me out for the week!

Svelte Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 what did you get? Just the stuff from yesterday, Castle stuff. Nothing that exciting. But I did stock up on Indy as well I've already stretched this month's LEGO budget to a maximum, let's not watch it snap!

lightningtiger Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Haven't seen any Troll's Mountains or SW Y-Wings around??? No sorry I didn't see them at all, that was after looking at 3 Kmarts. I got last one of the Troll's Mountain for 99 dollars about two weeks ago, the Kmart stores location I have forgoten. But Power Miners is going out cheap too ! 8959 Claw Digger $25 8960 Thunder Driller $ 30 Oh yeah dozer is now $ 35 and harvester if you can find one $ 33, they'll soon be all gone. It's truly amazing that Kmart are doing this when everybody else isn't, heck even some Target stores have Star Wars and Castle sets dating back two or more years, at the same old price.

Your totally right, no one else is selling Lego like K-Mart. K-Mart is my number 1 place to shop and check first now, Target sells at full RRP and your right, they hang onto stock with no discounts at all. There's a word for that - Tight arses! But Toys'R'Us must be one of the worst offenders, not only are they RP, but up to 15% extra ontop of that. I'd rather buy from Lego.com directly and pay for the shipping then buy from Toys'R'Us. Keep up the sales K-Mart, at least they move through the Lego at a fast face, must be one of Lego's bigger customers for ordering. BigW can have a few good buys here and there, at least BigW don't charge RRP and are relatively close to K-Mart prices, they just don't have the super sales and clearence like K-Mart. Wish I could work there just to keep an eye on the specials that come through the door.
Strand Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 TRU isn't too bad, it is the only place you can pick up their exclusives after all, and you just have to wait until there's a sale or subscribe to their newsletter for deals, otherwise it's more expensive overall. It's like the toy version of EB Games. I picked up Brickbeard's Bounty today for little over $100 at TRU with the 20% off online coupon.
MicroM Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I picked up Brickbeard's Bounty today for little over $100 at TRU with the 20% off online coupon. Just wondering where you got the coupon from ? When does it expire ?
DarthSion Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Don't know if any of you guys know, but I got a toyworld leaflet today, it has the SW OT 3 in 1 set, with Vaders tie, the rebel scout ship thing, and the imperial "dropship" for $80. Its not on their website so can't post the link, but its not bad the 2 battle packs are about 20 each to buy. This is the set in question. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=66308-1

DarthSion Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Well it maybe cheaper but thats what the ad says.
lightningtiger Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Forgot to say the other day, Kmart is clearing out the 'Galactic Enforcer' for under $100. OMG, it's starting to become a 'fire sale' at Kmart. Oh, yeah the Venator is clearing out for $ 165 too. I'll check another Kmart today to see what other nutty discounts they are doing.
Clone-Trooper Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 That's pretty much it for what K-Mart has left on sale at a great price. Most of the clearance items are now sold out, including the Venatar and Space Police
Strand Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Just wondering where you got the coupon from ? When does it expire ? Apparently it came with their online email subscription, though I found it on a videogame site, similar to this thread (Ecogamer.com). The coupon ran out on Saturday I'm afraid.
Izzy Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I have just seen in the ALDI catalouge for this week they are selling two (train and truck) of the Creator 3-in-1 sets for $6.99
Izzy Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Geez they popping up everywhere. My thoughts exactly. I fear that this will give us even less of a chance at ever getting a Lego store in Australia, if it so readily available everywhere.
lightningtiger Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I have just seen in the ALDI catalouge for this week they are selling two (train and truck) of the Creator 3-in-1 sets for $6.99 Well we don't have ALDI's in South Australia yet, but thats about two bucks cheaper than some of the other discount stores . At that price it's called a 'stocking stuffer', grandparents love those cheap lego sets for the grandkids. Note - Kmart have selected Star Wars and Agents 2.0 sets on sale this week.
