I Scream Clone Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 After more than a decade in the dark age, I have returned to Lego! I've only started collecting in the last few months. Anyway, after seeing all the posts about 25% off Lego at Myer and DJ, I went to buy the 7280 Straight & Crossroad Plates for my town after work yesterday. They were all gone from Myer Melbourne! They are restocking the shelves at Myer though but didn't have those ones. Anyway, rush off to DJ...GOLD! Found some of those plates Oh and all the carousels at DJ are gone, ppl taking advantage of the sale. Welcome back from your dark ages, and welcome to Eurobricks too! Make sure to properly introduce yourself over here Cheers ISC (or whatever my name is at the moment )
Svelte Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 shoppingsquare is having one of their not-that-exciting sales today, but amongst the dross those looking for a NXT 2.0 can get one for $360, which is 20% off retail. http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_10395_L...rms_NXT_20_8547
Hewman Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 For those in Adelaide, there's a toyworld clearance store in the Myer centre, only one lego set there, but plenty of copies and a good price, it's the big 7644 Mars Mission set with the Martian commander fig, reduced from $130 to $65.
eli_77 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 There is a $10 Discount Coupon for Myer in the Daily Telegraph today. Valid for today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday). Get $10 off if you spend more than $75 in one transaction. Can be used in conjunction with the other offers such as 25% off Lego. (i.e. you take 25% off the price of the Lego set, then subtract a further $10)
Clone-Trooper Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 K-Mart find, must have been a cancelled lay-by or hold? Managed to get the Indiana Jones Temple of Doon set for $50 dollars, but geeze, how bare are the shelves now??? They must be getting 2010 sets very very soon. On previous years gone past, K-Mart has received sets (including the battle packs) one week prior to X-mas when they were due out the next year for release. But, all the good buys and bargains are certainly long gone now..............
chibi_joker Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Welcome back from your dark ages, and welcome to Eurobricks too! Make sure to properly introduce yourself over hereCheers ISC (or whatever my name is at the moment ) Yep yep, have gone and properly introduced myself. Thanks for the link

Yeah, but it's the start of the cycle of price reduction to they get so low it's silly and with them selling very few thats where we all might cash in. You see each store must have got about 40 to 60 of each minimum and they are still there, the shelves are still full. Due to low margins in food retailing it's turnover of stock that brings the money in. Though you know if they end cap them on the front of store, not hidden at the back of the store they would not need to do this - will they ever learn. Same happens at Wooloworths when they sell Lego too.

I remember my local woolworths having the impulse sets last year, and they had a stand full of them at the back of the store in between two meat sections hidden near the doors staff use to get to the cold goods storage area, not exactly prime selling location.
DarthSion Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 HMM interesting I got myself the snail tank and Sepy shuttle today and noticed they had no piece count on the box. See what you guys mean, went to garden city to spend my bday money all they had was a snail tank which had been opened and looked like it was missing parts, and loads of the assassin droids, they really didnt sell well, still 18 bucks, obviously aint worried about getting rid of them. BigW also at gcity had lots of everything, even magna guards for 50bucks.

Wow, Magnaguard Starfighter $50 gee thats about 40 bucks off the original price. Note to everyone - stores are running low on Lego stocks across the board. But I happen to know where I have seen a stack of 7945 Fire Stations to for a really good price.
DarthSion Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Except BigW, the garden city had lots of every theme, the Kmart there had lots of everything except SW.
jonwil Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 K-Mart in Joondalup has a LOT of stock of the combine harvester. Seems they cant move it even at the ridiculous clearance price they had it at (even that price wasnt low enough for me to take the plunge) Also, a LOT of stock of the city bulldozer without a clearance tag (if the set goes below 40, it MIGHT be worth it for parts but at the price K-Mart wants for it, forget it)
lightningtiger Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Something must be comming, Kmart with bare shelves 'Not good not good' (Ed, Edd & Eddy). Might the decks be getting cleared for 2010 stock for the post Christmas sales ?
Hewman Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 But I happen to know where I have seen a stack of 7945 Fire Stations to for a really good price. Come on, you can't just leave teaser information... Where are they? I know where to get the service station set for $50, maybe we can trade information privately and there'll be no value lego left in Adelaide.

I sincerely doubt it. I've never seen any new releases hit the shelves in Sydney before the end of the first week of Jan. Often new sets seem to crop up in Bris Vegas first, from reports in this mammoth thread! We may be lucky this year, but I am not holding my breath. More likely that K-Mart was just getting an aggressive jump on its competitors by selling as much as they could, as soon as they could. It does seem kind of premature to have empty shelves two weeks before Christmas I wonder if there are any clueless parents finalising their $349 Christmas lay-by AT-OTs now...
Clone-Trooper Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Hey All, For those of you like me that have been waiting for the ned of year sale on Lego.com may be surprised or shocked as I am because Lego has listed 30 items on sale as opf today. Only problem is that, to me, they're all pretty much crap. Must be what they're trying to clear stock wise? I recall last years sale started around the 17th or 18th of December, so im hoping this is just a warm up lap of clearence items and some good sets will still go on sale from 2007? What do you guys think??? But in saying that, Lego.com have sold out of most of the sets I was after which isn't going to make this a goood year for bargains me thinks!!!! And if it's not, well, at least lego.com have saved me thousands of dollars........
Svelte Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 There's not much left from 2007, look at the 'Products Launched' links I posted a page or so ago. Thanks for the news! You're right, it's all pretty crap! Last year the sale started on Dec 26 - not before Xmas - I know because I put in an order when the new stuff came out, then had to amend it a day later when the sales were listed
Siegfried Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 You're right, it's all pretty crap! Yeah... the highlight is Brick Street Customs, and perhaps the LEGO® Pirates Tic Tac Toe.
Svelte Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Well, the 10210 Imperial Flagship has a price: $AUD279.99 Much better than I expected. Looks like the US and the UK are getting the price rise, not us. (Flagship is $US180 and GBP140, whereas the 10197 Fire Brigade and 10198 Tantive IV, also $AUD279.99, are listed at $US150 and GBP97.15).

Hey, 'Hewman' what do expect from a tiger surporter ! Sorry, just joking. If you want a fire station take a trip up to T.T.P. way, go forth and find a toy shop in a corner that sells nothing but Lego. Every AFOL knows it anyway.

But with the exchange rate as it is, it's still a sore blow knowing that American collectors are getting these for bit over $200. And while it'll cost around $280 altogether to get one shipped, I'll have to take into account S@H's very expensive shipping.
MicroM Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I'm going to bank on the Imperial Flagship coming to retail at some point. Maybe DJ's for Christmas 2010, or a KMart July 2010 Toy Sale exclusive. But the price point is better than I had thought.

I would say Myers or David Jones, this would never go to Kmart, maybe Target since they got Pirates in Australia first. On an interesting day yesterday actually met a Kmart employee who works in the toy department, I was right 'AL' on the price strip means 'alotment' whats left is whats left and that's it. If it doesn't clear out fast enough, then it goes on clearance. Also even the staff are miffed at the rate of and what's going on clearance so soon.
