Hewman Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 You are the man !!!!!!!I've been hunting for one of those for the last 3 months !!!!! Consider it sold, I just called up ;-) Nice one Clone-Trooper, K-mart Firle had one for the same price all this week that I was tempted to get but the box was pretty bashed, so I resisted. I wasn't sure I could resist the one at TTP if it was in good condition, so you saved me an expensive purchase I probably can't afford!

There was a pretty banged up looking Death Star at K-Mart Noarlunga a week or so ago ($475). I'd definitely ring up before making the trip, but just thought I'd mention it in case anybody was still chasing one up. Cheers.
d00dz Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 haha Awesome guys! I wouldnt mind another Death Star! lol I guess Kmart are finally finding their stock of Lego out of the way. I bet most of them were laybys and people couldnt pay. Mine was liek that I think. It was near the Layby section

It was near the Layby section I agree with the cancelled layby's comment, but you would have thought they would have been collected or cencelled already before X-Mas. Heck, $475 is much better then $699 and way cheaper then ordering it from the USA. Even if the box does come slightly damaged, that's still a great price for the mini-figures and to build, I doubt that Lego.com will reduce it that low. Just like the UCS Millenium Falcon, now that it's not being manufactured, they'll hold stock until the very last one sells and never discount it on their website.
Whup Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I pointed it out to the missus, but she didn't even bother saying no. It's like the price was so ridiculous she didn't need to... I convinced her to let me buy a Republic Gunship on sale a while ago but by the time I went to get it it was gone - I don't suppose they are still on shelves anywhere?

I think toycorner near TTP have them, but I think were a bit above RRP from memory. Also if you're near Noarlunga, that's a bit of a hike. If you get to the city much, I could possibly grab one for you some time when I go there.
YG-49 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Went to Big W (Noosa) yesterday, they had Star Wars and Toy Story. I picked up an Army Men set there, and I'd read the reviews about the bending shotguns, and, I think Australia has ended up with the crappy quality..

Unfortunately, approval was given when it was on special - I'm not sure she'd be too happy if I pulled a bait-n-switch with something nearly twice the price! I've always been a big pirate fan but never had a ship when I was a a kid. Last year she imported a Brickbeard's Bounty for my birthday, so I'm working on her at the moment to let me order a flagship from the Lego store. If I go that route I could maybe sneak a gunship at RRP on the order...

Hi Whup I tried to send you a personal message but it was disabled (may be because you were new) anyway here's the gist of it and apologies to those that don't think it's relevant to the thread. The latest pirates range is fantastic, I was never into pirates before but I'm hooked now. Were you talking about the Imperial ship or the Brickbeard's bounty? Because you can almost guarantee (ie don't sue me if I'm wrong) that one of the retailers will pick it up some time as an exclusive set and most likely you'd get it for 20% less than if you buy from shop at home, and you'll save on shipping, but you will have to wait and probably be quick off the mark once it makes it to retail. If you were talking about brickbeard's bounty, this is still fairly easily available and if somewhere like Myer or Target re-stocks there's a good chance you can get it for 15-20% off. I actually got mine for $99 at Myer which was great value.
eli_77 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Upon opening my Toy Story: Army men on patrol set, I found that all four green heads had extremely faint facial printing (eyes, eyebrows, smile etc). Its like when you print black and white and the ink is running out so it comes out as grey. The face is very hard to see on my minifig heads, whereas the printing on the torso came out fine. Did anyone else experience this problem with their army men or is it just the way it is meant to be?

I might take your advice and wait and see what turns up in shops - the price tag + shipping is pretty massive . Anyway, being new here I'll try and refrain from venturing too far off topic and find a better place to ask some questions! Gotta pick up some late Christmas presents with the missus tomorrow morning - will take a wander by the Lego and report anything interesting on sale!

Toy Story is already here?!?!?! Holy Crap that was fast! Has anyone seen it anywhere else than BIG W in the Brisbane area? Mine is not so close... but I have a Target, Kmart and Mr Toys very close. EDIT: I probably should have read the previous page.
Svelte Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 The Tantive IV is back at stock on Starwarshop for $US149.99. With $79.99 postage, that still makes it very attractive. You could have it FedExed next week for $AUD250 instead of wait 3 and get it from S@H for $AUD345 If only Starwarshop sold modular houses and other exclusives. Quick, somebody stick a Darth Vader in the Grand Emporium!
xNick Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Just got back from Kmart Waratah and they had lots of copies of last years modular house @ $99 on clearance as well as that big technic semi, also $99 on clearance. They also had the Agents chopper @ $70 on clearance. I noticed they still had a copy of the Death Star behind the service desk but it was still at its original price ($599 I think - can't really remember). Big W Jesmond had all the new Toy Story as well as the early Star Wars releases (same prices as in an earlier post).
dotmike Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 New sets slowly trickling into Kmart, just saw Toy Story Construct-a-Buzz (and only this set so far) in Kmart Sylvania (Sydney). Priced at $47. Cheaper than retail, but at this percentage, Big W has them beat until the sales.
TheDarkness Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 The only Star Wars Lego my local K-Mart has is the midi-Falcon. The shelves are pretty bare right now, was hoping for some cheap Venator sets to come out, but alas, nothing
hollisbrick Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Target at runawaybay gold coast has all the new SW and TS
DarthSion Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 For any QLD out there, the courier mail today had an interesting article on lego, namely how it turned itself around after almost going bankrupt.
Whittleberry Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Just got back from Kmart Waratah and they had lots of copies of last years modular house @ $99 on clearance Eh?
DarthSion Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 LOL that is solid gold, I am guessing after reading your sig you are unaware the vast majority of lego pieces are actually made in Mexico.
Svelte Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Eh? I think he means the Family Home. LOL that is solid gold, I am guessing after reading your sig you are unaware the vast majority of lego pieces are actually made in Mexico. That is true only for the US market. Europe is supplied by production plants in a few locations, including the Czech Republic. The minifig parts he is referring to come from a specialised plant in China which also handles pre-assembled figs (eg magnet packs), seasonal items, and electronics. Even if the 'majority' of parts *were* made in Mexico, what really is the point of your comment? Quality is to be encouraged, especially in something so important as figs are to AFOLs
xNick Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I think he means the Family Home. Yea, I did. Meant to say Creator Home
