City trains have followed a very regular pattern for a while so expect the next pair in 2026. Quote
R0Sch Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 According to Promobricks, the Orient Express will fit and maybe even include regular train tracks in it's display stand, will consist of 2540 pieces and retail for 300€ with release on November 1st. Hopefully ready for Powered Up like the Crocodile and unlike the playscale Hogwarts Express, which doesn't even fit the conductor. Quote

I was really worried it would be another incompatable track gauge. Quote
Mondo-TRON Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Been thinking on how are they going to do the Orient Express, model or playset. The original Ideas entry was built as a model. But the last time they had a display model train, it was the Hogwarts Express and it did poorly. They don't want to change it too much from the original entry, like the table soccer/football set, which also did poorly. If you do one over the other, a part of the Lego train fans might not be interested. ( I want a Powered Up train with multiple cars) I think it could be a 2 in 1 set. The model is 8 stubs: engine, tender, 1 passenger car. The second build is 6 studs playset with Powered-up: engine, tender, 3 passenger cars. If they could included an oval of track, great. Quote

The reduction in piece count gives some hope that they've scaled this down a bit for track compatibility. 300 euros is awfully steep, especially when you consider the crocodile locomotive with 1300 parts was under 100. I don't think it's gonna happen (this kind of alternative model it`s will need lots of spare wheels but recent trains not so rich on wheels(and magnet couplers, and I guess they may die off)) and yeah we need another iteration of the hobby/factory line with a new hobby train with lots of new parts and maybe one/two colour-scheme Quote
lostdriveway Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 One of the posts I just read on BrickFanatics stated it works on brick built track which to me indicates is not going to work on regular Lego track. So hopefully we will get some indication soon. Looking at the pictures I’m guessing 8wide minimum. Quote

But it's unclear if there are regular tracks included or brick build like in the crocodile set. There are no pictures yet and no other info on the width. Edited June 8, 2023 by Kallego Quote

Those two little cars will make up one big one. It's possible I'll learn from the EN experience and buy two or three sets in order to have three long carriages. I especially like the station: not only did it appear in the HP films, but it was also used in the new, remade, "All Creatures Great and Small," which to my mind is much better than the old series. But YMMV. ... Don't forget that Goathland station was also Aidensfield in Heartbeat Quote
ivanlan9 Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Neat. However, not only have I never watched Heartbeat, I've never heard of it before! Quote

Marlow Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 The list at the start of the thread is missing the current Hogwarts set. As for the Orient Express, the Ideas images indicate at least 10W, but lets hope they scaled it down to fit L-gauge. And yes, 300 EUR is hefty, considering that the current trains run around 180-190 EUR. Brick count is not an indicator, that should indicate or increase pricing. Like the Liebherr 13000 crane set 42146, that has 2883 parts ... BUT over half of them are freakin pins !! /M Quote

Yes, the Liebherr 13000 crane was not fantastic in this respect. However, I don’t think this will have over 1000 technic pins! I think if anything will drive up the price it’s the specialist train pieces, and we don’t yet know the extent of coaches and display base which can also increase costs. Quote

zephyr1934 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Oh wow, the logging railway looks amazing. Though the use of the crankshaft part for the rods is a little iffy, they do not have much clutch (easily fixed with cragle, but...) and it extends the build to 10 wide. Brick Cross also looks great. I hope both sell well and send a good message to TLC that a well designed train is in demand Quote
