Finally! Pickle is here!

anyway, this episode is all about my favorites, autumn and nova, and I like how this episode shows a pretty realistic argument between autumn and nova about the game the two were assigned to make, and the fact that these two are polar opposites of each other.

also, we can see the dog rescue center, and it looks way different than the set

Autumn keeps on trying to find a solution to pickle’s problem with his hind legs (his name is pickle because he likes pickles btw)

a quick detail is that on the leaderboard, Zoe from the new bus set is 2nd on the leaderboard in the episode, what’s her game, bus simulator 5000?

also, nova is the one to drop off pickle, and adopt him, that’s sweet!

Autumn’s reaction to nova’s 3d printer was actually pretty similar to my first time seeing a 3d printer, which for nova to own a personal 3d printer, which according to google, would cost around $250-1000 dollars, her parents must be pretty rich, maybe if nova’s mom was, I don’t know, the mayor of Heartlake city she would have enough money to get a 3d printer

Nova’s finished game reminds me of that google scoville game, which was SUPER popular back in my days at school (and yes, I replayed it, I still can beat it in one sitting)

Ms rozi (the teacher that popsy urinated on in new beginnings) is the coding teacher at the international school, I want to get the black kid closest to her in this image as an official minidoll, also, is brad a teacher, or a student, I have no clue anymore 

Also got a few good looks at nova’s room, very nice setup, though her skull-in-a-jar is noticeably missing, in favor of a 3d printer

It's nice to see Friends started using those 8x8 and 8x16 x 2/3 plates in that community center, I think it's a great addition to have a 2/3 high "brick" in a useful size even when used as floors as it should be a lot more structurally sturdy to prevent plate bending compared to regular plates over wide gaps.

Also probably shouldn't be too hard to modify the community center into a straight line of buildings , so overall seems to be far more interesting compared to the 3-in-1 Main Street, or even combine features of both sets, using the larger plates as a base instead of 6 wide.

Also would be interesting to integrate the friends Room sets into the Community Center, 4 floors, 4 rooms without the Kitchen .

Specifically the community center and community kitchen use a new 16x16 "L"-shaped one! You can tell it's one piece from pics where you can see the underside and because the plate cutout on the inside edge stretches all the way to the corner.

Oh that's still very interesting , and a nice size.

The new City ice cream shop also seems to use that as a base, in light grey, no visible plate gap on the picture from above where the roof is removed.

While those June sets are absolutely great, there are still a couple sets coming later this year, likely as September: (via brickmerge)

41756 Skipiste & Café 980 pieces 9+

41760 Iglo 491 pieces 8+

And the usual Advent Calendar , 231 pieces 6+

 

I love the Ski Center for City, and that build will work fine for minidolls as well, so I wonder how those Friends sets will look , 9+ at least gives the impression that it could be a nice build that's not too simplified.

I can't wait for these, hope to get all the new friends in winter gear, especially since the sea rescue sets didn't have olly, liann or Paisley! I'm thinking 3 in the ski center and igloo, and the remaining 2 in the advent calendar, in terms of autumn, I expect her winter coats sleeves to be like this, where the sleeve is rolled up to right above where her arm cuts off

Kind of wish this issue's story would have had the girls going off to Theatre School/Africa/Space/France/Sea like in the sets. Their future plans were mentioned about 5 issues ago. Though I suppose Stephanie and Mia's world travelling dreams failing and landing them back trapped in Heartlake wouldn't be a fun comic story.

Edit: big shock, Hanna from the upcoming sports center is the first minidoll with type 1 diabetes, I actually have a friend with diabetes, so that's nice inclusion!

New episode out: unstoppable puppies

This episode was really fun, though I’m pretty sure paisley is tired of being left out, as the rest of the main cast appears, as well as niko!

So, it looks like ginger girl is dating a guy that has pretty obviously stolen Leo’s torso from sets 41730 & 41747

Here’s how the hair salon looks in episode form (Nadia appears too!)

and the dog rescue bike too!

at the end of the episode, this old man adopts dash, since nova adopts pickle, adidi adopts grace, and old man adopts dash, who’s left at the dog rescue center set?

Is this supposed to be a reference to the dog rescue bike?

overall 7/10 episode

Built the Cat Hotel set and it's really good.

Even at it's full price due to being exclusive to LEGO, it's a good value set with good parts and figures and 3 very different Cats (2 being exclusive to set as of now)

Also should be easy enough to convert it to something else, so a good starting point, perhaps combined with one of those room sets you'd have a small house :)

I do like the masonry bricks used at the base, and the way the windows are built.

Oof, still need that one, it’s a Barnes and noble exclusive here in the U.S

what really strikes me the wrong way is that Walmart doesn’t seem to have the summer releases, but has gone ahead and put out the ninjago sets! Last year, the summer sets released at target and Lego stores in June, but didn’t show up at Walmart until august!

I've been looking at some pictures and a piece what get my attention is this : 

That seahorse build in the Beach Adventure park has the 2x1x2/3 curved slope in a transparent color for the first time. (also in trans-light blue in the same set)

Been waiting for that piece for car/truck headlights and such.

Hopefully that means that the wedge (left/right) version will eventually follow.

 

Also that Bus set has at least one destination as Hospital, which makes me think a new Friends Hospital is likely for 2024, as the City version is currently listed as possibly retiring.

Another destination sticker says Market, which could be another 2024 set. (altho "Fresh Market" is the 2023 supermarket)

Yup, the trans-yellow ones are also used for the lamppost in the community center set. Should be really nice for spacers (especially ones who work in microscale).

Just noticed something interesting about the rotating sign on top of the bus, and how it uses an unconventional-but-legal technique (technic pins inserted into 1x1 "Dalek" bricks) on both sides in such a way that it works out to be perfectly spaced. Pretty funky.

Alright, looks like the advent calendar includes autumn and Aliya, as well as churro, popcorn, pickle, and daisy, as well as two unnamed dogs.

igloo looks alright, I’m personally not a fan, but the side build of the jacuzzi looks very amazing

Ski center looks very cool, I’m wondering who the character who uses a recolor of arin’s hair from ninjago is? Is he a wheelchair user, as his skis reuse the new minidoll wheelchair

my one issue with the advent calendar is that autumn’s left arm is just fully dark green, not like how I thought Lego would do autumn’s sleeve, like this:
