Murdoch17 Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) This model was heavily inspired by the 2014 original eight-studs wide Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (set 21108) and a convertible MOD of that set I found on Rebrickable. I've been kicking this model around in my head since early September in several colors, (black, blue, dark gray, and red were among those considered) but green is the one I finally settled on. Instead of a late-50's Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance, it's now based on the (very similar) '59 Cadillac Eldorado. In the changeover, I added a hardtop (removable) roof, mirrors, and 1/2-stud offset side-by-side seating for two (with a third seat in the back row). I also changed around the wheels. I thought about putting a spare tire back here, but it proved to look stupid no matter what I did, so I left it off. The roof and rear windscreen are only connected by a few studs, making them removable. The car easily seats three figures total. Here is the original set 21108 I was inspired by, Ghostbuster Ecto-1 from 2014. Thoughts? EDIT 1/4/23: Real life photos added of finished model. Thoughts anybody? Sorry for the late reply, but those fins are actually a left-over part of set 21108. Also since my original post, I've removed the opening doors and recolored the dark gray model to green, as can be see in more detail in the first post. I've actually made a lot of progress on this model in real life, with only 48 parts left to buy. Thoughts? Quote
Murdoch17 Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 Quick update: Here is all the progress I can manage on the the '59 Cadillac without the 27 remaining parts I ordered from BrickLink this afternoon. Quote

I think you're saying it looks good... but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway: The first order came Saturday and those part have been added to the car wherever possible. The other Bricklink package with the remaining 20 bricks should be here tomorrow or so. Thoughts anybody? Quote

Taking classic cars and putting spinners, inclined wheels, wheelie bars, large spoilers, and / or other stuff makes me feel uneasy. New paint jobs: sure, fine. But the rest looks really silly, not to mention could be unsafe! Simply put: If it didn't come from the real-world factory in any way, I don't want it on my LEGO cars. ...I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry for the rant, and I don't mean to offend. It just doesn't look "right" to me to do those things. Edited January 3, 2023 by Murdoch17 Quote
