Thanks for the explanation, this is something I expected after reading up a bit on how PWM control works. Now I understand why lego chose this mode of control for its servo, because it needs to be able to control all motors the same way.

Thanks @pow and @2GodBDGlory for the experiences, so I gather from the discussion that this might work for a single RC or XL motor or even probably 2L motors running from a 2S lipo or from a 9V battery even if controlled by an ESC. Those should not draw too much current, right? The main idea was actually to use the geekservo in smaller builds.

i wonder why the stackable plugs for the buggy motors were allowed to be used at all. *huh*

Great work. Thank you for sharing. Philo compared many lego motors a while back (philohome.com). It might be worthwhile to consolidate your data with his for a good reference to all of us. Cheers.

What i have learned from this topic is that geek servos are meant for RC. I thought they have to be used with Lego PF.

But @FriedlS has some interesting point: The buggy motors produce a lot of heat. If that heat is able to escape within the cables into the (melting) plug. This could worsen the heating issues even more. So air-streaming the plug and cables might be clever. @2GodBDGlory That could also be a good question to start a new topic with: How to keep buggy motors cool?...

It would honestly be really interesting to have an active cooling fan do anything on a Lego model! I'm not sure if it could be made effective enough to work well with high-current plugs, but it'd be cool to try. I just upgraded to heavy-duty plugs ripped out of old hoverboard parts I had lying around, which is a reliable but boring solution...

J'utilise un récepteur par exemple Radiolink et un esc où vous pouvez connecter la batterie au moteur. Dans mon cas, j'ai changé les fils du moteur en connecteur bec pour l'esc.

Je n'ai jamais essayé de connecter un servo Lego avec ce récepteur, donc je ne peux pas dire comment les fils doivent être changés. Geek servo a trois fils (+, -, s), lego servo en a quatre.

The wheel shown above has got a diameter of 43mm and in my G-Class they have got a diameter of 49mm.

I found them on shapeways and ordered there.
