But I do suspect there's something more going on here. Lloyd's mech has a blue technic pin sticking out of the chest, so  I'm wondering what that could be used for. Maybe Arin's mech attaches to Lloyd's somehow?

Doesn't Lloyd's mech act as a mech for Arin's mech? Like Arin's mech fits into the torso section so it's a mech driving a mech?

Is the villain with the red section on their face supposed to represent Harumi with the red face paint across her eyes thing that she likes to do? Like it's Harumi with a haircut? Wish we had clearer pictures

Actually a very good point, looks like that could be very well possible, I mean 72004: Tech Wizard Showdown from Nexo had a similar concept with a battle-suit inside a mech.

yeah, there’s 2 flat parts on Lloyds mechs knees, the blue technic pin on the front and the fact that the torso looks incomplete, the 2 definitely combine, tech wizard showdown style! Can’t wait for this set, it just got a whole lot interesting. For £65 or £70 though that’s pushing it. Still, can’t wait for it!

Krux also does something similar, or it's a new character, I'm voting its krux

That does seem to be the case, now that you point it out. I'm usually all for wacky vehicle ideas like this, but this one doesn't seem to do it for me for some reason. Maybe once we get better pics I'll turn around.

Another Thing I've noticed, this is the first non-core set to include a core style small mech. Could we see this mech system be carried through in all ninjago waves?

How exciting, to see a summer set so early (and seemingly complete!) I’m looking forward to seeing what the mechs look like combined, as that could make or break this set for me. I love that the theme is branching out and still finding ways to make the obligatory mechs and dragons and temples new and exciting.

I can’t pass too much judgement on the minifigures until we’ve seen more photos. The villains look interesting but might feel a little too generic. I’m also not sold on the new ninja masks but again, it’s hard to tell at this resolution.

Since the magazine leak was legit, is anyone curious about what’s going on with the Kai/Lloyd heads in those pictures? They appear to be black with powered-up eyes. Could be interesting!

I hope if time travel is involved that the timeline gets changed so Lloyd stayed evil and never became the Green Ninja for at least part of the series

Yeah Ninjago is sticking to the same stuff over and over again, it would be good to see a decent change up. Multiple villains, different teams, evil ninja (ice chapter doesn’t count really for me…) and I would love to have a more gritty and dark season like SOG. Granted, some of recent Ninjago has been pretty dark but the goofiness and the way things are played off and forgotten about it’s getting infuriating. Hopefully United is change for the best.

Actually; I'd love to see the Ninja pursue The Time Twins into the past, but be too late to stop them changing the timeline to make Lloyd stay evil. Then when they return to the present, they discover that evil Lloyd, with advice from Krux and Acronix, recruited Kai, Nya, Zane, Jay and Cole as his Generals, maybe dosing them with Great Devourer venom and messing around with Zane's morality functions, and the evil Ninja are ruling Ninjago with their Serpentine army.

The original Ninja become refugees from a timeline that never existed and have to fight themselves in the new timeline and team up with a resistance group of new Ninja led by a Master Wu who never knew them.

The resistance could include Garmadon and the Overlord who are working with Wu, since the evil Ninja are their common enemy; and the evil Ninja could have enslaved Cyrus Borg to build them war machines and evil Nindroids, They could be in league with Chen and Skylor; who wouldn't have rebelled against her father in this timeline, P.I.X.A.L could have stayed evil too and need winning over by the good Ninja to help them access the technology to go back in time to undo what the Time Twins did.

Getting their evil selves to recognise what they're doing is wrong and to choose to listen to their inner goodness could be a big plot point. They could throw in a twist that Garmadon will realise restoring the timeline will turn him good so he turns against Wu. Any cool villains that would be worth seeing in future seasons could also travel to the past when the Ninja go to put the timeline right, so they continue to exist in the restored timeline. (I'm thinking MCU time travel rules, not Back to the Future time travel rules). So we could end up with the redeemed Garmadon having to fight his fully evil self, for instance. Or have evil Zane be a recurring antagonist, putting his intellect and abilities to dark purposes.

Yeah... I got all that from one pic of Lloyd with black eyes 😅  I know it would never happen, but it'd be cool.

Lego needs to hire this guy!
would love to see this as a legit story line.

Everyone is stating the plot, but here’s mine

a sudden heatwave hits ninjago, so the ninja must gear up and venture underground to final the source, there, they discover the evil empress, as well as krux and acronix, who have regained their powers, and are working with the empress, their plot is to travel back in time to defeat the ninja before they were even born! Along the way, the ninja meet a team of new ninja from an alternate timeline, arin, raz, and sora, and make an alliance to stop the greater threat

hey everyone so on stonewars.de (a reliable source) they have listings of the summer 2023 sets but with different translations here's the link: https://www-stonewars-de.translate.goog/tag/ninjago/?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

so it seems there is a new character wyldfire who has a lava dragon perhaps the next elemental of fire? but the real question is are these leaks reliable or not?

Has the post been deleted? Can’t seem to find any posts on summer 2023, just the one about the markets. Nothing about new sets.
another new character? You know, maybe the new ninja are the “collectibles” this wave? Each set comes with a new ninja?

The website listed has a table of all sets for the given theme that year at the bottom of every article. Just click any of the ninjago 2023 articles and scroll to the bottom and it'll be there.

The "translation" is just google translating the website, so the other names actually make less sense, but they do list the dragon as " Wyldfires Lavadrache" in German, which means (unless Wyldfire means something in German that google can't translate) this could indeed be a new character.

The original was called "heatwave" which is in the same vein as wildfire, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was a translation error. Would love to be wrong though, im all for new characters. Also whats happening with the voice actors? Didn't Vincent Tong (Kai) leave the show? We know hes in the sets. Whats happening?

Vincent Tong didn't leave but was merely saying goodbye to Tommy Andreasen who left the show, also i do agree with it being a translation error but all we can do now is wait for promobricks

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Yeah, with a set already being leaked, I don’t think we will be waiting for long.

I wouldn't say that. Last year we had Zane's jet leak super early, and the year before the hydro mech, and we still didn't see other images any earlier. I think for the time being this will be all we've got.

Huh guess I was wrong with the wildfire stuff, that’s good to know. Glad we are getting another character. Also interested on the other “major” change, imperial dragon hunter hound. So the new villains are imperial dragon hunters? Along with the possible apocalyptic feel, this may just be season 9 mk 2, which I wouldn’t mind. Hunted set wave was phenomenal.
