Lego:

Also Lego:  No Cyrus Borg Minifigure

I'm all for representation, but I'm curious how that'll work with modern original minifigures being yellow. Would they start using actual skin tones?

And how do you represent mental disability in a toy without a story attached to it? Would some start coming with brief descriptions like, "This is Bob the contruction worker. He has ADHD."

In regards to your latter point, I imagine they are more referring to the stories that go along with each theme. Pretty much every in-house theme has some kind of plot to go along with it, so adding more backstory for characters isn't super complicated. I don't know what they'd do for something like Monster Fighters or Galaxy Squad where the plot is very barebones and there isn't any notable accompanying media, but they don't really make series like that anymore so maybe it's a moot point. Even Hidden Side, which felt much more classic, still had some media to go along with it.

Personally I appreciate the commitment to having more representation, but given that the majority of Lego's themes are licensed now it kinda seems like it's out of their hands anyway.

Looks like some mid-year retirement dates are known for sets (brickset) , July 31 2023 :

  • 71738: Zane's Titan Mech Battle (2021 Legacy / Possession)
  • 71754: Water Dragon (2021 Seabound)
  • 71756: Hydro Bounty (2021 Seabound)
  • 71759: Ninja Dragon Temple 4+ (2022 Core )
  • 71762: Kai's Fire Dragon EVO (2022 Core )
  • 71770: Zane's Golden Dragon Jet (2022 Crystalized)
  • 71773: Kai's Golden Dragon Raider (2022 Crystalized)

This isn't the first time Ninjago has 31 july as a retirement date for some of the sets, it happened a few years now, likely seems to make room for more sets, and perhaps based on sales for specific sets instead of just removing an entire subtheme at once.

Retirement of Zane's Mech does mark the end of the 2019-2021 Legacy era of sets , but the Legacy Magazine still looks like it's releasing at least until the end of 2023.

Looks like I’m covered with july retirees, I remember last year panicking trying to get the legacy ultra sonic raider mid July, before it retired, so I could get 10th anniversary Zane

Yeah. The retirement of the Kai raider isn’t surprising, absolutely amazing build but that price of £90 is still criminal. Should be £55 or £60 at the most. Shame it’s going, same with legacy as well. Hopefully it comes back sometime.

Yeah im seeing nothing and the big leakers haven't posted anything. I'm calling a hoax, unless we get a source. A website would be a good start. cant find anything on insta, youtube or even a regular google search...

Look up Jay's Brick Blog.
I'd link it here but not sure if it's leaked or revealed (TTV's talking about it and had the set in the video. But just in case not linking)

Do you have a screenshot you can send in DMs or the link? Ttv channel is just showing a promo that went live, looks like a custom bionical GWP and jays brick blog is talking about mario.

I think @Takanuinuva is talking about the image of Lloyd and Arin's Ninja Team Mechs which "revealed" a couple of weeks ago or the Tahu Bionicle GWP

Just read quest of the lost powers and really liked the book however they really tone down the true potential in this which really bugs me but a solid 7/10

Now that we’ve begun seeing summer set pictures, how long do you think it will take for Ninjago sets to start showing up? I’m not sure if the Disney stuff is being revealed early or if we are just gonna see all the sets early? Also, the prices look like we could be getting another price hike in the summer, I hope this doesn’t happen but the new set prices are really weird.

Now that there's modular cars in Lego City, I wonder if we'll ever see a wrecker's yard set? There could be builds for crushed cars, or car parts that could be put together to make a full car then disassembled into parts to put around the yard. A brick built car crusher could be interesting.

It could be easily modified to double as the scrapyard in Ninjago and have parts to make Ninja mechs, or make a good place for the Lego criminals to dispose of bodies.

I could see that becoming a gimmick type set like mechs, a skeletal gantry bay with 2 walls either sides and 2 crane arms with claws, and sections to build small mechs or vehicles. Something like the Sam x cave from DotD? I’d love that.

What do you mean by modular cars?

There’s the new tuner garage set that uses the clip system introduced with monkie kid and used in the blacktron GWP, the cars follow the same idea. I could see it coming to Ninjago but apart from mechs, I’m not really sure how they would fit it in unless everyone had the same vehicle with different colours, like the seabound sub pods.

so a couple things to talk about, the main one being the new images. They were confirmed to be real by the new writer, Doc, and this guy has made a very good impression as the new show runner, I feel like we are in good hands. I love the techno- vibes we get from the pics, and it’s very much in theme with the actual set that leaked a while back, like old time Ninjago but with integrated technology. Pie seems to be important, it’s mentioned a couple times. The shot of the city looks amazing, 2 moons so maybe this is a new realm? Been long enough, although I’d still like to see Ninjago (the actual island) explored more. The mech image looks very good, and I have seen theories that these mechs are actually some of the sets, and the idea is that they transform into the set names, like one will will be the transforming heatwave lava dragon, and one will be Sorlas mech bike? Maybe? I like mechs but the concepts proposed are actually more interesting to me. Can’t wait to start getting more leaks for this, descriptions are gonna be amazing. I guess the new realm explains the new characters, they’re like the ninja but in this realm, not Ninjago. Wonder if it’s gonna be a parallel universe type of deal.

last thing I wanted to talk about was the price increases in the summer, they’re not much but it’s weird that all the (revealed) summer sets have gone up a couple of pounds/dollars. And they’re weird prices too, no longer divisible by 5! NOOOO!

In all seriousness though it’s kinda annoying after last summer, and the record profits Lego is constantly flaunting. Hopefully Ninjago isn’t hit too hard.

It happened! We got another leak, a figure leak this time. Pretty rare nowadays. Wow, I actually love this new Lloyd figure, looks very clean, and the duel mask is back. New faceprint looks good, but I’m half and half on the “simple” design. I think it looks great on the torso, the back especially but the legs feel way to plain. It needed printing on the bottom leg IMO. The eye mask looks cool, hopefully we see the full mask piece soon as it looks like the top half is already there, just not shown….

What makes you think the mask is in two pieces? From what I can see I can’t really pick out any details from the mask.

The magazine picture that leaked showed a much bulkier shoulder armour/shawl cover, and I think the top mask goes on top, a bit like a ninja version of the dragon hunter armour from season 9, and how you can combine and swap the top and bottom parts around. There must be a sword holder at least right?
