JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 (edited) Wasn't really expecting the "all-new" series to be direct continuation in-spirit from the recent chapters but hey the stuffs shown in the trailer looks interesting, looks like the crazy stuffs is dialed to eleven here haha. The vibe with the sets looks promising with how Lloyd's mech looks (I really like how that looks ) Also despite being probably unlikely here's hoping that Lego would actually simulcast the episodes from their channel rather than having broadcasting them on some obscure tv channel. It's partially why I ended up not really enjoying my time watching Crystallized (aside from how disappointing the second part turned out). Edited April 6, 2023 by JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Quote
Killian Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 If all the realms are merging, I wonder if they'll do another Chima crossover? I mean the Chima theme is long dead so it wouldn't make much sense from Lego's business perspective, but Chima is an established realm within Ninjago's lore. Since Lego is putting lots of resources into Lego Dreamzzz, (with a new TV show etc.) - it would make marketing sense to have a brief glimpse into the dream realm as part of the multiverse aspect of this new season of Ninjago. Or even the world of Monkie Kid. Quote

I was actually thinking that the villains of the season could take control of Ninjago during the Ninja's absence! On 4/5/2023 at 10:43 AM, a guy from somewhere said: I can see Lloyd narrating the beginning of the episode and as we get each individual shot of the ninja he does a voice over, like “Kai, master of fire”. Wu seems to be on his last legs, he seems to be preparing Lloyd for “the next step”. . . theory time now, I think the actual story of the show will open maybe a year after what we have currently seen, as Lloyd is narrating. He will tell us what happened, and then we will cut to what would be present day. Arin will be grown up, everyone will have the new imperial suits, the bounty will be upgraded and modified for trans dimensional transport (along with a range of new tech and vehicles) and we will be half way through the ninjas mission to undo the chaos of the merge, like an “in medias res” story. I can definitely see this happening. Another possibility is that the entire season is a flashback narrated by Lloyd, with the ending being an older now-Sensei Lloyd recounting the events to a new group of students (including Arin). The season would act as a transition into a soft reboot and passing-of-the-torch to the new main characters, while maintaining the original Ninja as mentors. 🤔 5 hours ago, JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) said: Wasn't really expecting the "all-new" series to be direct continuation in-spirit from the recent chapters The show could end up being "all-new" once the Merge occurs. Whilst reality collapsing and worlds colliding is one of my favourite topics to think about, nearly every big franchise is doing a multiverse arc and I wouldn’t want Ninjago to go the same route. Keeping the idea of realms colliding and calling it the merge is providing enough of a jump from the other multiverse stuff in my eyes, and I’m pretty happy with that. 4 hours ago, Classic_Spaceman said: I was actually thinking that the villains of the season could take control of Ninjago during the Ninja's absence! Taking it one step further! This could actually be a really cool idea, or maybe different characters narrate for different episodes? Not sure how big of a fan I am of this idea though, it may get pretty boring. Really hoping we get set descriptions or some form of leak soon, im also interested in seeing a poster for the season and its name, which Lego is apparently withholding. It’s also been confirmed by Doc that this isn’t core shorts or anything, he just refers to it as “Ninjago 2023, not a short”. simply can’t wait! Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 New stuff is up, promoted by LAN and the ninjago team. WE need to merge the fragments of a poster that has been scattered across the internet. 5 fragments are out there, and we need to find them to reveal the season name. the first fragment looks amazing, it seems to be Arin, he has gold horns on his suit and there’s an axe of some sort as well. the fact that Lego is openly promoting this and giving fans a chance is so exciting, this really is a new leaf for Ninjago and im ready for the journey that’s about to start. This poster also confirms Arin to be the boy on the bounty, his face is the same, although older. Love this, can’t wait. Quote
Fire-Ninja Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 (edited) it seems as if the next poster is jay but the hammer sort of thing is not Arin's the angle is too off. Edited April 7, 2023 by Fire-Ninja Quote

This would spoil who survives the season, though. We know that Lloyd will, considering that Wu is positioning him as the next Sensei, but I would rather the fates of the other Ninja be left ambiguous until the end of the season. BTW, did Kai's voice actor actually leave? If so, he may end up dying; Kai is the only Ninja who has not died or sacrificed immensely, and he was the focus character of the Pilot season, so having him die would help make the 2023 season feel more like a soft reboot of the series/theme. 11 hours ago, a guy from somewhere said: the first fragment looks amazing, it seems to be Arin, he has gold horns on his suit and there’s an axe of some sort as well. Fragment link. Arin's head looks good; I like the sideburns and scars; I wonder if the Minifig will actually have a horned hood. 🤔 The weapon looks like an axe, but it could also be a hammer. The person in the bottom right corner is another of the Ninja (note the armour). Edited April 8, 2023 by Classic_Spaceman Quote

If they where going to kill someone off, it would have been Wu after his battle with the crystal king in crystalized, or garmadon during the final showdown, but Ninjago needs to stick with the status quo idea, and make sure everyone stays alive. Kai is the most popular ninja (still won’t get a season for him though, and probably never now as it’s been confirmed there will no longer be focus seasons), so killing him off and therefore removing him from the Lego sets will affect the sales. There’s a reason in the only Cole season we got, when Cole’s got his Titan mech, he had to share it with Kai. Because Cole isn’t as popular. there’s nothing really to spoil, we know that the ninja will survive, and probably everyone else. Kai’s voice actor didn’t leave, he was just saying goodbye to Tommy Andreason. Quote

Zane died, Cole became a ghost, Nya became one with the ocean, Jay watched everyone die and Ninjago be destroyed, Garmadon died, Lloyd dealt with his father being evil then dying after being redeemed, his girlfriend betraying him (who became a villain partially due to his actions) and then dying, his father coming back as an evil shell of his former self, etc. While none of these things completely stuck, the show has tackled a lot of more mature/dark themes in past seasons. Also, Wu is definitely dying this season, considering how heavily it is being foreshadowed in the clip. Quote

I think what im trying to get at more is the show needs more permanent consequences, pushing beyond the boundaries its set within itself. Everything always goes back to the way it was at some point. Nya spent about 4 episodes as one with the sea before becoming a regular human again, and I hope we finally see some more interesting and permanent things happen. Its already looking promising, the 14 realms now coming together and "merging" could make for some interesting scenarios, by only worry is that with the time twins being confirmed to re-appear, I won't be surprised if this season ends with the ninja convincing the twins to turn back time and stop the merge from even happening. Hopefully not, as it could create some pretty interesting scenarios down the line. Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 I’ve got the option to get Jays Titan mech for a decent discount, does anyone have it here? Worth a pick up? What’s your favourite and least favourite parts of it? Quote

I also think that if Ninjago is going to make permanent changes, this season is the best time to do so; as the start of a soft reboot, killing some of the original characters and changing the status quo (via the Merge) would be a good way to differentiate "Ninjago: The Next Generation" from the original show. 13 hours ago, a guy from somewhere said: by only worry is that with the time twins being confirmed to re-appear, I won't be surprised if this season ends with the ninja convincing the twins to turn back time and stop the merge from even happening. So In the teaser we got on the 5th there was writing on the library wall in ninjargon, that when translated said “control time control everything”, and there’s been a couple of hints from Twitter, and we also have the leaked blurry image of Lloyd and Arins team mechs, and one of the figures appears to be krux (one in the lower left by the mech feet, carrying a sword and has red across their face). Confirmed is probably the wrong word, but at this point I think it’s very likely. Possibly as a secondary villain or a puppet master. Edited April 8, 2023 by a guy from somewhere Quote

Worth a pick up? What’s your favourite and least favourite parts of it? I have it, and would absolutely recommend you buy it. It has some design influence from Evangelion, so the torso has this funny permanent ab crunch. There are some parts that will pop of easily if you actually play with it, but it's fine for display and posing. I collect all the titan mechs, so I have some bias there, but I think the mech has enough interesting parts and minifigures to justify a purchase either way. Favorite parts: - finally a titan for Jay, absolutely needed to complete the lineup. - the overall mech design is really different from the other titans, lots of nice new building techniques, cool swords that attach at the hips, - Nice new weapons pack, villains, and a cute little magazine fed dart launcher Least favorite parts: - I think the design is floppy. It's hard to make a Lego mech both solid and posable, so I often modify them for more stability. The only Ninjago titan I think is perfect out of the box is the fire stone mech (71720). - Core Jay and Nya are not exclusive to this set, so any Ninjago collector is likely to own them already. a guy from somewhere Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 New fragment is out, Nya and Ras are shown. I wonder if Ras is actually a good guy, considering he seemed to be commanding the villains in the mech set leak. Maybe it’s a season 13 situation where the munce and geckles are portrayed as villains but really they’re good guys? That would lend credence to the idea that the TT are the real villains. Wait wasn’t there a Kai and Ras motorbike set? Maybe they are good guys? Nya looks great, I love that dark azure is the main colour. Hopefully Cole is in all black so the mask part can be re-used on a wanderer figure. Also @Steinar thanks for your opinion on the Titan mech, I’ll see if I can get it, but im waiting for at least set descriptions to come out as well. Budget is tight these days. Quote

The leak on the Ninja-guy-yo Tumblr (not gonna link it here obvs) Raz has a helmet over a Human-looking head, while Ras has a moulded wolf head (per the leaked sheet). Raz is also mostly gold, while Ras is dark grey. I think that these are different characters, though I am not sure why they have such similar names (maybe Ras’ name is pronounced “Raysh”?). Quote
untitled Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Ras and Raz remind me of Richie and Ritchie. That's a pretty big similarity. I don't mean that they have anything to do with the new characters, but I just want to give an example that a similar thing already happened in Ninjago. Quote
untitled Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Btw, why do you think the ninja has such a face print on that leaked minifigures? It looks like their avatars from S12, but the season is unlikely to be video game related. Then why do they have these "masks"? Quote
