Some Romanian channel already uploaded a small review for the Markets on Friday. They also have a video with that ugly new Batcave.

(fair warning; the audio is pretty loud)

Looks very good, but nothing we haven’t really seen yet apart from that one room with the bed on the floor and the desk with a quill. Still waiting to see it combined and such.

That's cool, based on the wall color, that's the City Comics shop.

Ninjago was in City before via a few posters/video games as well, mainly set 60291: Family House from 2020, with a Kai figure in a video game screen, and the kid having a Lloyd shirt, a katana, and a dungeons and dragons poster (2020 was also the Ninjago Skull Dungeon year)

So it seems Ninjago has it's fans in City but known via TV show/Games/Merchandise, rather then being a direct link.

Agreed, cool. Hate to be the negative one though, for those like me who collect the cards…. This will be painfully expensive.

Heads up, new Ninjago themed build a minifig thing for June 1st, new versions of Arin and sora with different torsos but same hair and faces (different from markets). Also Lloyd Nya and Kai are in core suits and a dojo kid. If I get the chance to pick one up I’m definitely grabbing Arin Sora and a few dojo torsos.

I certainly won’t complain about more unique build-a-minifigures pieces!

I wonder if Arin and Sora are to raise awareness for the new season but I think the core outfits might be because there’s a lot of excess pieces after two years of core sets lol

Watched review of new spinners from DuckBricks. These are terrible xd
But really, can this be considered funny or concerning? Guy said that you have to loosen the joint by yourself in order it to reduce friction.
Out of 3 only Lloyd's one spins properly, and simply because it's having rounded bottom. Nya's one literally doesn't work at all?
Also they are tricky to spin in first place, new hoods are a bit part of this problem since there is no really good contact points on spinner itself for your fingers (tried spinning figure with ninjago movie mask by it's head?)

There's also cool things in that review that i never had realized about new sets
Hound is built in way that you can slam it on table and it won't spread legs at all (by sacrificing forward movement of back legs), and mech-bike's foot is not rigid and also adaptive to surface/leg pose

The first two episodes leaked in German (note: I do not speak German, so there are obviously things that I missed!). Also, (this is not a spoiler) I was correct that most of the footage in the trailers is from the first two episodes.
Spoilers, obviously:

Spoiler

 - The first episode opens with an extended version of Arin's monologue about the Merge, and we see the original Ninja saving people as Arin introduces them and their powers.
 - The episode cuts to the junkyard scene; Arin is pretending to be a Ninja, Sora is looking for mech parts (we saw this clip in English).
 - Sora triggers an alarm, and the Zurg bots respond, attacking A&S. Arin uses his Spinjitzu against one of them, and Sora hacks the bots to make them dance. Arin uses his grappling hook a lot during this scene (and generally in the first two episodes), so I am glad that we get it in the sets.
 - A&S get back to their house in the Crossroads, and we get an infodump about the new world: A&S are BFFs, Arin thinks that the Kingdom of Imperium is beautiful, but Sora disagrees due to being from Imperium (this is not a secret or twist); Arin wants to travel, but Sora is content to stay in the Crossroads (we got this scene in English on LEGO.com). Arin bakes a pie.
 - We cut to the scene of Rapton reporting to Lord Ras that we already saw (nothing new seems to be included).
 - The episode continues to the next day, when A&S enter the race (all race scenes from the trailers are in this episode); it seems like there is some kind of buy-in for the race (which A&S cannot afford), so they bribe the frogman race official with the pie. We also get brief introductions to some of the other racers (one of whom is a Core Bone Warrior), including the main rival (possibly a very changed Racer 7?). Sora and her rival seem to talk shit to each other, then the rival has one of her Whack Rat henchmen sabotage Sora's mech (very Sebulba of her).
 - Before the race starts, we cut back to the Rapton and see Riyu escape from his container.
 - We see the race, which is over far too quickly for me. Basically all of it was shown in the trailers, and it makes the first episode feel rushed. Also, Arin can fit into the back of Sora's mech.
 - As Sora nears the finish line, Riyu breaks through the pavement followed by Rapton (we get the scenes of him scampering across rooftops while being shot at here). It seems like there is a brief disagreement between Arin and Sora, before they decide to rescue Riyu.
 - A&S pursue Riyu and the Imperium soldiers to the bridge from the trailers; as Sora tries to use a nitro boost to catch up, her rival's sabotage causes the mech to lose control and fall off the bridge (the scene of them falling in the trailers). Riyu gives Sora a powerup, and she is able to rebuild her mech and fly back up to the bridge.
 - We see A/S/R working together to defeat the Imperium flyers, then Lord Ras shows up and quickly ends the fight (and captures A/S/R). Did I mention that Arin uses his grappling hook a lot

 - The second episode picks up where the first left off, with A&S in Imperium custody. Lloyd shows up and rescues them, and the fight continues on top of the train (most of this is seen in the trailers). Sora tries to use her tech power, but cannot until Arin frees Riyu (who gives her another powerup). Sora then uses her power to overload the Imperium swords, allowing everyone to escape.
 - As an aside, the Imperium Claw Hunters are very weak; Lloyd has no problem defeating them (he toys with the first one he fights, so that he can redirect their sword into breaking A&S's handcuffs, after which Lloyd just throws the Hunter into a wall).
 - After the Ninja escape the train, we get the scene of Lloyd talking to Sora about her powers; A&S want to return Riyu to his herd, and Riyu uses pieces of debris to show where he is from (this scene is available in English on LEGO.com).
 - We go back to the Monastery, and Lloyd searches the library for a scroll (presumably to find out where Riyu's family is), and Riyu finds it for him. Riyu is very doglike, and we later see A&S playing fetch with him with a pair of nunchucks.
 - Cut to the workshop under the Monastery, where the new Bounty is basically complete (Sora just needs to put a few finishing touches on it). While Sora works, Lloyd and Arin talk about the Merge; we get the first clip released here (Wu and Lloyd talking in the library, then the Merge occurring) as a flashback, along with a few more shots of the Merge from the OG Ninja's perspective.
 - After the Ninja fly into the centre of the Merge, Lloyd wakes up back at the Monastery and seems confused. After spending a bit of time looking around (and changing from his Core suit to his new suit), he sees the old Bounty docked above the Monastery; he boards it, then freaks out when he sees Kai (attacking him, as we see in the trailer).
 - Lloyd and Kai go back to the Monastery when a Mergequake occurs, tearing a rift in the sky. Lloyd (seemingly) in his gold Core mech and Kai on the old Bounty (now in his new suit) fly up to the rift and seal it with their powers. Evidently Elemental powers can stabilise the Merge, which is presumably how the Source Dragons factor into the story (since they can give powerups, as we see later in the episode).
 - Kai leaves on the old Bounty, presumably to find the other Ninja, and Lloyd patrols the Crossroads area of Ninjago. We see the bridge fight from his perspective, catching everyone up to the present.
 - Sora finishes the new Bounty, and we are off to find Riyu's home. We get the scenes of the Bounty being chased by Imperium flyers, and of the large green dragon saving them after Rapton shoots out the Bounty's engines.
 - After a rough landing (Sora seems irritated, as she had only just finished working on the Bounty), Lloyd, Arin, and Sora talk to the large green dragon. The dragon actually can speak (though it seems like a kind of telepathy, since her mouth does not move), and it sounds like the dragon is female. Also, the pronunciation of Riyu is "r-EYE-you", not "reee-you" (at least in the German dub).
 - Mid-conversation, the Imperium catches up and begins capturing the other dragons in the area (seen in the trailers). Lloyd and Arin easily fight the Claw Hunters, but Rapton manages to grab Sora and is about to drop her off of a cliff when the green dragon re-emerges and knocks Rapton's flyer back (trailer shot).
 - Rapton orders all of the Claw Hunters to focus on the green dragon, and she is brought down (trailer shot); Rapton then relays this to Lord Ras, as L/A/S seem to discuss what to do.
 - Lloyd sneaks up to the dragon and fights some of the Hunters; more show up (along with Rapton), and the green dragon gives Lloyd a powerup (the massive Spinjitzu tornado from the trailers). I am not sure why he really needed it, though, since the Claw Hunters are not a threat to him.
 - After Lloyd wrecks the Imperium forces, Lord Ras (who had been watching from afar on his own flyer) leaves calmly, and L/A/S have another conversation with the green dragon. They seem very respectful of her, and bow to her at the end of their interaction.
 - I am assuming that they talked about Riyu, since it seems like they are going to leave him behind with the other dragons, but Riyu runs up behind Arin and brings the nunchucks. Reunited, everyone watches the dragons fly away (Lloyd's "we have training to begin" line seems to occur during this scene, before Riyu brings the nunchucks).
 - The ending shot of the episode is of Empress Beatrix receiving a message from Lord Ras (trailer shot of her catching the little floaty holo-hexagon), then seemingly delivering her line about Imperium soon having enough dragon energy to rule all of the Merged Realms. We see the tail of a creature in what appears to be a tank or force field bubble as the ending shot of the episode (I assume that this is either a dragon or some kind of creature that Imperium is designing and infusing with dragon power).

Yeah so far I’ve seen the first five mins of it, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Pacing was a little off, and it does still feel like classic Ninjago (to me anyways, I showed my brother and he said that “that’s not Ninjago anymore”. This will be a decisive season). And the music, hot damn it’s good. I love the theme that plays after Arins story.

Anyways I won’t watch anymore or look at spoilers, I want to watch it all on June 1st in English, German is kinda hard to understand. It’s just a shame this has Happened at all, it was going smooooooth up until the final week. At least there will be 8 new episodes for those who have watched these 2 already though. Overall pretty hyped.

Alright, I’ll admit I gave in. Watched the first episode, won’t spoil much but it’s very very good. I really want to highlight the music though, it’s absolutely amazing, top tier and way better than the simple remixes crystalized brought (the pixbot theme is damn good though).

I really hope the soundtrack releases alongside the season and it isn’t delegated to the back of the 15 season long list of soundtracks we are meant to be getting. Really hope something happens with that, ideally we get the DR soundtrack and inbetween season releases we get the past seasons sound tracks.

Hi,

I do wish we got more 'villain centric' sets (and more goons across the waves) maybe the because the first season of dragons rising is in 2 parts we'll get 2 waves for it? ( Season 1, skybound and the movie did get multiple waves) and we could get a big imperium base set?

Very unlikely, a second dragons rising s1 wave would probably have been leaked already, I'm considering making my own imperium base, actually

The sets are already based on the second half, since the other three Ninja don't appear in the first part.

The sets seem so far are:

mech bike

destinys bounty (without the dragon)

imperium hunter hound

heatwave transforming lava dragon (leaked trailer)

Elemental lightning dragon (leaked trailer)

Sets we haven’t seen:

Team mechs

Temple of dragon energy cores

zanes car

Spinners?

I’ve got a couple ideas for one, large base that’s “underground” and has some imperium stuff, plus a section of the underground railway seen in the trailers. Second level is imperium stuff, maybe an area to hold dragons like we saw in the trailer? Banners with Rempress Beatrix on the sides and then the final top section could be a throne room or something? Colours would be black with gold and trans orange trim, maybe some dark red mixed in as well?

Ah okay, I'm never sure how long before hand we tend to know such things, I mean we'll be getting another Ninjago wave either way? I but guess the next one will be in time for dragons rising season 2 then🤔.

Though surely for all we know the Imperium might be in season 2 as well ( though I imagine they wouldn't be as prominent as Ninjago sells itself on fresh new villains and storylines each season, though snakes and undead both recur a lot maybe we'll get zombie snakes next😂

Edit; just to say I hope you show us your imperium base if you go through with it ( please do, I'm interested in seeing what you come up with) 😊

Hmm, I get where you are coming from, but I think🤔 we can't take that as definite proof. I mean I can see them wanting to include all ninja in the first wave either way, I mean we did get minifigs for seabound 🌊 scuba Kai and Cole despite them never appearing in the show iirc.

But I guess that it's not likely then. A shame as the only builds we have for the Imperium are one mech, some little fliers and the hound.

Go right ahead, I doubt mine will take off until the summer anyways. From the leaked trailers though, imperium as a city looks very cool and interesting, I love the architecture and design of it. Another tidbit of info, apparently the giant lightning dragon is called "Jiro", not exactly sure where the name has come from but thats what brick-fanatics called it in their review. Wish we had stuff like Walmart here in the UK, we just dont have the space for sprawling stores like that. You may get lucky with an independent toy store every so often but as far as I know mine are still waiting for the sets to even arrive. Maybe somewhere like B&M? Anyone else in the UK got any early hunting grounds to scout out?

Nice review of the new Ninjago City set!

My table is getting a little full, but this looks like it could potentially "turn the corner". Thoughts?

Wow, wish I could have a layout like that. If I were you, id put the docks behind the OG city, and then have the destiny’s bounty docked next to it. Then have the markets be put in the middle between the 2 corners.

Haven't had any luck so far finding the sets, probably going to start work on the imperium base this weekend

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. The docks should actually line up better that way, since the OG city has a little fragment. I had that setup before I got Gardens, but Gardens looked really unsatisfying joined at that other end of Docks, imo.

Agreed, docks is a hard fit with the others. Going if bricksbyminds video of connecting the sets up, I recommend putting the OG Ninjago city on the left side of the markets as the tree coming of the unbuilt apartment actually helps hide the unsightly gap that’s behind the cable car upper station, and also blends well with the cherry trees. Also if you have the funds, I think getting a baseplate or 2 and completely tiling them off with water will look amazing next to the city sets, you can also save some tiles by putting the bounty ontop of it as well.

I’m not so sure, I don’t think a second wave is at all out of the question. We know the second half the season is coming in the fall, so a January wave wouldn’t be too late to go alongside it. We haven’t really seen much of what the second half of the season will look like, so it’s entirely possible that there are new vehicles/locations/characters that could be made into sets featured in the later episodes.

As JTimG mentions, we’ve seen this before, albeit not in awhile. But I personally wouldn’t mind going back to two full waves of sets per season. It gives the designers a chance to feature more characters and especially villain-oriented sets.

We also know that CORE is ending, so unless Cartoon Network wants to start airing two seasons per year again, we don’t really have another option for a winter wave. An early 2024 season 2 is certainly possible, but it’s not any more likely than a summer 2024 one, which is more in line with recent timelines.

Finally, it’s far too early to know what’s coming in January. The fact that there haven’t been any leaks yet tells us nothing, as no sets from other themes are known yet either. By this logic, I guess we aren’t getting any LEGO sets in winter 2024.

Overall, it’s just too soon to know what’s coming next year. I’d expect we’ll start to hear rumors around August.
