I’m thinking some kind of classic space themed set. The Galaxy Explorer is nice, but pricey. I think there could be something similar, but at the price point of the Creator castle and pirate ship.

Um, you do know that the Galaxy Explorer is at the price point of the Creator castle and pirate ship, don't you?

Is it? Locally (Australia) the castle and pirate ship could be purchased on special for around $100 (AUD), whereas the Galaxy Explorer is $160 (AUD) on special. I guess different region pricing?

Edit: I didn’t realise that the Galaxy Explorer is something of a retailer exclusive down under (only available at one major retailer (Kmart)), so that would help explain why it’s never been available for as low a price as the castle and pirate ship as there’s no competition.

Pirate Ship was €100, then €120 and even raised to €130 now but does get discounts, but the best price was still right after launch before the price increases.

Castle and Galaxy Explorer both are €100 but mostly exclusive in my country so never had a big discount.

Viking Ship is €120 but also get discounts.

In the US the pirate ship, castle, and Galaxy Explorer are all $100, or at least the Creator sets were when I got them before the price increases. Offhand I don't recall whether those two went up in price in the US or not.

In US: Both Pirate and Viking are listed at $120 on LEGO.com, and Castle still $100 (USD)

Australian prices :

  • Galaxy Explorer AUD $180
  • Pirate Ship AUD $190
  • Viking Ship AUD $180
  • Castle AUD $160

Anyway, I've been thinking about summer sets, the "Main Street" is quite large at 1459 pieces, as well as rollercoaster at nearly 900 pieces, maybe if there will be a 3rd set based on an old theme, could be a smaller set instead, or just large and exclusive.

What if the 3-in-1 Main Street is actually a "90th anniversary" inspired build based on 6390: Main Street

6390-1.jpg

It won't have the baseplates, traffic signs or cypress tree obviously but most of the builds seem basic enough for Creator.

The cypress tree must be reborn. Everyone meming the goat out of retirement and just sleeping on the coolest tree Lego ever did.

How many people will do a goat bonsai tree, do you think?

Will they move onto a goat cypress tree?!

At the risk of getting off-topic, I think an issue with bringing back the cypress tree is separate from the difficulties the return of goats faced, namely that most sets these days that need trees that big are complex enough to opt for brick-built trees instead (especially in a theme like Creator where a brick built tree offers more rebuilding options for alternate models). The classic trees certainly have their charm but with more small parts that can be used effectively for trees and foliage these days, there are simply fewer niches where a large single-mold tree is the best tool for the job.

The rational part of me agrees with this analysis, but the dreamer inside me just wants a cypress tree service pack. I've bought entire sets second-hand just because it's somehow cheaper than buying a single cypress tree on the aftermarket - not sure why that would be the case! I do think premoulded trees have their niche, especially in basic buckets/small creator sets aimed at a younger audience. They're a better fit than brick-built trees for the sort of sets they used to be included in - less-complex houses and sets, and the like - but those sets don't seem to be the main focus of Creator at the moment.

But also, it's similar to the goat in that there are probably plenty of sets that might have had a cypress tree over the years if the mould was still extant, but none that justify creating the mould for it.

The odd part how those retired trees were used in their last years

The large pine tree got a new mold number in 2017 but only was used in a few sets, probably largest volume of sales coming from the Xtra polybag.

And then the round tree even got a recolor in 2013 that was only used once, and the tree itself was never seen after that.

In the case of the Cypress, it's probably been gone for too long however, similar faith to the large palm leaf, both being out of production for 20+ years.

Not even the 2003 re-release Legends version of 10041: Main Street could bring back the Cypress sadly.

Priority probably went into bringing back the 2 grey baseplates for that set. (they aren't 100% the same as the 1980 version as sidewalk studs vary but still essential to the set as a re-release)

If Main Street is a re-re-release, it would be very cool. I wanted the first redo in 2003 when I was quite young, but missed out on it. This (if correct) would be a dream come true!

It'll be updated and look better than the original though right?

It's nothing more then a theory, of sharing the same name, I mean City has had numerous variants of Main Square, City Centre, Town Center, Shopping Street etc.

Main Street is just a simple way to describe a set with multiple builldings (that could possibly connect as we see with previous 3-in-1, and the last Friends Main Street), especially a 3-in-1 one, for which we know, at 1400+ pieces, the alternate builds can be very detailed as well.

I mean, even some of the latest 3-in-1 sets, Pet Store, Toy Shop, Noodle Shop, had very respectable alternate builds and were much smaller sets in piece counts, and had buildings like a Bank, Flower Shop, Bike Shop, Arcade, Dentist, Hair Dresser, Cake Shop and more.

Creator 3-in-1 is just one of those themes the closest to something using more basic pieces , so recreating a build inspired by the 1980 Main Street is certainly possible, but I wouldn't count on a "re-release" copy looking the same, more in spirit, if anything.

Again, just a theory, for one, I think might even have only like a 5% chance of happening (made up number), and if it's something entirely different, I'd still be happy for seeing a big 3-in-1 set focused on buildings.

The main reason I came up with the idea, because that's what it is, is the 90th anniversary, and LEGO has been remaking 1980s based Castle, Pirate and Space builds and figures the last few years, and Main Street is also 80s and again featured again in the Legends line in the 2004, but likely not big enough to have it's dedicated Icons remake (which is also complicated due to it being a Baseplates set)

3-in-1 has had references to older sets before, with the Pirate Rollercoaster having a ticket entrance similar to Lagoon Lockup, and then we see Pirate Ship and a Skull island later which were sets.

Then Castle came at a convenient time to use Black Falcon figures

And the Viking Ship references to both the ship+serpent set, and Fenrir sets of the past.

None of them could be considered Re-Releases , just very inspired by the general idea of the sets. Wheras those via Ideas ( the ship-build in Barracuda Bay), and recent Icons Forestmen Hideout / Blacktron are certainly direct remakes to old set numbers.

31144 Exotic Pink Parrot its likely a recolor of 31136.

Could very well be, like those Dinosaurs were.

With 253 pieces, makes it basicly 99% guaranteed

I wonder if they'll pick the color scheme of the Galah parrot (pink/grey with a white top of head) , or some fictional bird.

Maybe this is the 3rd summer set then, since it doesn't skip a number. (31143 is the limited/exclusive birdhouse)

Unless a 31145 appears later.

With 3 "classic" 3-in-1 themes on the market still (Pirate / Castle / Viking), + Galaxy Explorer + Monkie Kid / City space sets still on the market as well, I have a feeling the Space rollercoaster is this year's Creator Space set then.

Would be nice if it's Futuron colored. (Friends had white track pieces in 2021, would set it apart a little bit from the light grey Pirate Rollercoaster track)

Two new Creator 3 in 1 sets have leaked in the usual place.  Creator Space Rollercoaster and Main Street.

Spacecoaster is cool. I don't know if I will get it since I have the pirate one. I like the somewhat smaller footprint compared to the pirate one.

I was really looking forward to see pictures if main street but somehow I don't like it to much. I don't see much potential turning it into a modular compatible moc. I mean it possible but I can't picture a result I would like.

But let's see what the rebrickable wizards will come up with ;-)

The spacecoaster looks amazing. Love that. Same great fun as the pirate roller coaster, and the alternate builds seem good too.

Less impressed with the main street set. Initial glance suggests it's great, but more than a few seconds and it starts to look plain in comparison with the recent Friends sets (albeit at a slightly lower price point). The interior detail feels lacking too. Sort of a shame, but probably what comes from trying to make something as large as possible for the budget combined with the restrictions that come from the Creator parts availability and 3 in 1 requirement. I can see multiples of these being combined to create something great, but I think some of the MOCs that the Friends sets produced might also beat them, purely because of the wider range of parts included. Looking forward to seeing them though.

Pass for me on main street (probably). Must buy on the spacecoaster.

I kind of like the Main Street set buildings better than the Friends one.  I prefer classic style buildings to modernistic ones.  Plus I'm really sick of the Minidolls, I prefer the classic Minifigs.  And I'm a sucker for the 3 in 1 buildings.  I do like parts of the Friends set so may eventually get it if I can get a good deal on it somewhere.

The Coaster reminded me of the Pirate one too. And I like most of the Space themed stuff they've been putting out the past few years.  Wish they would have made the Space Baby in a new color though.

Same, I prefer the classic style, but it's the detailing on the Friends sets compared to the new Creator one that feels dramatically different. It is, of course, nice to have variety and levels across the portfolio though.

Main Street is nice, but I prefer the enclosable style of Bike Shop and Cafe (31026).

Space roller coaster looks good, although I must admit that I was expecting a more classic Space design (grey, blue and yellow) as opposed to being more realistic (white, etc).

I was REALLY looking forward to this set, but now that it's revealed I'm really, really disappointed.

I figured CREATOR buildings were on a roll again with the all enclosed Noodle Shop and the recent Cozy House which were fantastic, but this looks like a mash up of modern City and wanna-be Friends, as opposed to the charming attention to details that CREATOR mini-modulars have become known for (like the Cozy House).

The colours arn't great but what I think is much worse is the lack of detail in the builds - I mean the Motel looks like a straight up building out of a City Main Street set, while the others remind me of recent baseplate included City sets.

I may get it for the tower, but as this isn't a cheap set, I will have to carefully deliberate on the purchase...
