Some members here had probably heard that months ago, I submitted a piece pack on Lego Ideas as a project and was rejected.

However, I’m not here to discuss about if Lego Ideas decision was right or not, but to explain why I did this in the first place and how this can be sustained.

On Reddit someone asked about this pack and I replied.

“The idea for the petition for a Classic Space piece pack was on the believe that many Classic Space fans have over 40 years of collecting pieces and also have enough pieces to build complex designs on their own, so a piece pack would be a great gift for hardcore Classic Space fans to continue designing new Neo-Classic Space creations on their own…”

Classic Space sets have at least 3 big color schemes to be known. Light gray/black/trans green, white/black/trans blue and what most fans consider the true C. S. blue/light grey/trans yellow. The white/black/trans blue is widely consider to be Futuron color scheme rather than Classic Space although it was used widely on the later years of that theme. Also, the number of trans blue pieces is larger than the trans yellow ones since it has been wider used in other Lego themes such as aquanauts, town space, and even Minecraft.

Let’s face it. One of the biggest limitations for Neo Classic Space Mocs are the existing Trans yellow pieces available. You also have the space logo pieces and other limitations, but for what I’ve seen and heard. Every time a new trans yellow piece have been found on new Lego publications, the C. S. community goes nuts.

For instance, how many people here know (or even care) that Lego has never made the 1x12 plate in blue color, but if I told you that minifig legs and arms in Trans Yellow color exist you’ll probably will rush to Bricklink to corroborate the last part.

Die hard C.S. fans usually have a Lego Collection spanning four decades consisting of thousands of pieces. So, for them, a new window or windscreen in trans yellow is worth its weight in gold. I know you can get around the piece limitation problem by combining pieces, but a single piece windscreen solves any probable stability problems.

The question is, Classic Space fans will consider a C.S. (trans yellow) Piece Pack good enough to be as good as a new Classic Space set? For me, the answer is YES!

Maybe will not be as cool as a new professional Lego space set design, but it will expand my posibilities to create Classic Space MOCs.

Not surprised this was rejected. LEGO Ideas is for set designs, not for begging LEGO to release certain parts. If your argument is that these parts would help you make cool MOCs, why not prove it by designing one that incorporates all or most of them? Not only would that make the set much more interesting and qualify it as an Ideas entry, but also show LEGO and potential supporters why it needs to be made.

All the pieces in the pack are in this Lego Ideas Project.

Very nice! You got my support on that one!
To me, this is much better than just a parts pack.

Indeed, although if there are a parts set I think it would include helmets, possibly green an gray ones, oh and oxygen tanks too.

100% agree. I'll take a note of that for the future. Classic Space helmets in gray and green and also grey airtaks. Gotcha!

Dark purple, not they already release them on the chinese parade.

Thank you! This thing would rock in Lego stores, I garantee you.

Please Support!

I also think it is right they rejected a parts pack, because it breaks the rules. Much better to have a proper build like the one you show. If people want it as a parts pack rather than a set, they can still vote for it.

As for the colours, yes, they are great alternatives. Just like the (old / new) (light / light bluish and dark/dark bluish) greys arguments, use what we have got now or stick with the old. Classic Space is dead for new parts. But new Classic Space is not. Adapt and use new parts and colours, or stick with the old and accept that you will never get anything new. Putting a new brick next to an old one often looks odd anyway no matter what the theme, even if it is the same colour.

This would be a dream, @Operacion Saturno. Great work on the parts selection, and the custom prints!

Obviously the build that uses them all is fantastic too, and I've added my support.

In my opinion...every Space set is a parts pack! Or should be. The more cool windscreens, printed parts, hoses, radar dishes, and chunky wheels, the better.

I agree.
Also we can still build a lot with the new pieces and the Classic ones, but a little help from Lego Group on new pieces would not be rejected by fans.

Yes, that's the point of this. Not only new pieces, but a way to use them as a whole in a set.

I was making my Blacktron 2 MOC for the contest.  Got a fair ways into it with some Ninjago parts, then I realized they were the wrong shade of trans neon green..

I'd love to see more of the classic shades appear in more modern sets.  Maybe I'm just missing out on the major ones, but it looks to me a lot of Ninjago stuff doesn't make much use of the old Classic Space trans neon colors.

Yes, Trans neon is so 90s.
We need more trans neon too. Green, orange, yellow.

I think there are a fair number of trans neon yellow parts in 2022 Friends sets. Despite having no trans neon orange pieces in 2022. So hopefully it's not all neon colors.

I'm hoping trans neon orange returns and its absence is just a temporary issue.

After the end of Classic Space, Trans Neon green and orange gave a new look to the space theme through M:tron, Blacktron 2 and Ice planet. So these transparent colors have a place in our hearts, so I agree with you.

I would definitely buy a classic space parts pack if it was available. But most of these parts are a much larger scale than I build and the curves don't really fit into the classic space style. I prefer parts like that windshield that came in 70821. That part really should be brought back in more sets. I would also like to see that printed slope produced in light bley. If I were choosing the parts for a pack, I would also choose a lot of trans yellow plates, as well as trans green windshields and canopies.

Personally to me this doesn't feel very classic at all, too many round parts, not enough parts with sharp angles.

It's not a bad selection of a parts pack, just doesn't really feel like it fits with any pre 2000s space.

But if it's intended for Neo-Classic Space, fair enough.

Still supporting the IDEAS projects

Yes, a trans green piece pack is also needed.

I understand a parts pack being rejected on ideas, although a themed parts polybag is something I feel like lego could probably do and make a solid profit from. I personally would love it if I could go onto lego's online site and just order a pack of ninjago-themed parts, or maybe Exo-force or Lord of the Rings. Definitely something I would support. That or maybe just color packs, as it would make some pieces easier to buy in bulk colors, like golds and transparent colors. Again, I love this idea

Also, supported

I'll be very surprised if we don't get a space themed parts pack polybag along the lines of the pirates, LNY and Halloween VIP packs. Still, a larger and purchasable set would be more desirable.

The recent Mars Spacecraft Exploration Missions set was almost a Space parts pack. And it had all prints no stickers! Except it had a very orange planet on its space logos, not gold, so not technically Classic Space.

The robot dog in that pack is very nice. :classic:
