FinlayTheFaithful Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Shame that the campfire showdown has Sonic as the only minifigure, but I'll settle on it being a badnik battlepack Quote
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 I agree with the rest of you, the campfire set is pretty bland. I like the robot builds, but with them being G.U.N and not Eggman's, they don't really have a place in my collection. The Sonic minifig looks weird too, especially the mouth. for $20 dollars, it doesn't feel very substantial either, I guess that's just the cost of included the speed sphere in such a small set. The biolizard, on the other hand, looks fantastic! I was expecting Super Shadow to be the only minifig included, so I'm very glad to see Super Sonic too. The build looks very nice, and a good size too. For $40, it's perfect, but it looks like the actual price is $45, which is still good. Definitely looking forward to picking it up! 3 hours ago, Takanuinuva said: Though I hope we get pics of Metal Sonic soon. I hope so too, but I feel like it's more likely that we'll be waiting for at least a month or two. My mind goes to the reveal of the Death Egg Robot, which happened months after the initial reveal of the rest of the wave. I would love to be wrong, but we'll see what happens. Quote
Max_Lego Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 The Biolizard is awesome and looks very accurate to the original IMHO. I believe his inclusion is due to him being the boss in the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations. The campfire set is lame but features a new Sonic head printing 13 hours ago, The_Fiery_Rooster said: I like the robot builds, but with them being G.U.N and not Eggman's, they don't really have a place in my collection. FinlayTheFaithful Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 With talk of the F1 minifigure series not taking up a CMF slot, what are the chances of a Sonic CMF sometime soon Quote
Max_Lego Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 (edited) I saw the leaked images of the Cyclone set. It's a well-designed and -built set that somehow looks very crude. The rounded nose is the only thing that hints at the walker's airplane origin. Metal Sonic is well-designed, with dual-molded arms, but still manages to look weird to me Edited October 4, 2024 by Max_Lego Quote
cosmic Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Okay I gotta be honest, never heard of the bio lizard or metal Sonic before. But honestly, I am loving both of these sets. First of all, we get Super Sonic in a cheaper set, with a (so-far) exclusive Super Shadow. Super Sonic was the only exclusive character in the drillmaster, but now he's with another rare figure with the build being something we haven't seen yet either. It feels so fresh and familiar at the same time, I love this set. And $45 is not bad. As for the Cyclone vs Metal Sonic, the build is kind of forgettable but the Metal Sonic looks so cool. No clue who he is but it looks affordable so I'll probably end up picking it up. I'm really liking how this theme has been handled so far. Quote
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I'm very torn on the Cyclone. Metal Sonic looks great, very happy with that figure. The body of the Cyclone is pretty good, but the legs have issues. I have a feeling the design was very constrained by Lego's standards. The upper legs are too tall, such that when the legs fold up, they stick too far down. Also, the feet are too long, such that they can't fold up against the wings. This makes the 'plane mode' look less like a plane and more like the walker just sat down. Looking at the version that appears in Sonic Frontiers, I guess they based the transformation on that version? But the look is definitely based on SA2, with the black lower legs. I'll probably still pick it up and heavily mod the legs to see if I can make them fold up more compacted. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Metal Sonic works really well as a minifig, much better than the weird battle droid hybrid …thing from Dimensions Also nice to see that Tails gets a new facial expression as well! Quote
Takanuinuva Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Shame Metal uses normal minifigure arms and legs. Not even dual molded legs. I wonder why Lego didn't use the prosthetic leg mold from Echo for Metal Sonic. (Granted they'd have to make a mirrored version. Which might not have been in the budget) If I do get this set. It'll be on sale. Quote

I'm pretty sure the designer had this in mind while giving Tails the "I'm gonna kill you!!" face. Though it may be just a reference to Sonic Adventure 2, parodied in the video Quote

Scarilian Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Honestly pretty happy with what we've gotten, we've got most the core characters sorted already. 2023: Sonic, Amy, Tails, Robotnik 2024: Shadow, Rouge, Knuckles, Super Sonic 2025: Super Shadow, Metal Sonic Ideally we'd get Big the Cat (With Froggy) & Cream (With Cheese) to round out 2025 - that way if this is the last year of the theme then we'd have Team Rose, Team Sonic and Team Dark (Minus potentially E-123 Omega). Would'nt be too surprised if we get a set for Chaos at some stage after they did Biolizard, opens up a lot of potential sets knowing they are willing to experiment with creatures. If we get into 2026 then I'd hope for Blaze, Silver, Super Silver and Mephiles. Then after that they can play around with other characters such as the Chaotix and Babylon Rogues. Quote

I highly doubt this will be the last year of the theme given how big of a juggernaut the Sonic IP is, so we can look forward to more than the possibility of Big and Cream this year provided they do get the treatment this year Quote
Takanuinuva Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 I wonder if Omega would work as a Polybag. I wonder what the part limit for them is. Quote
FinlayTheFaithful Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Since we're getting sets based off of SA2 next year, I wonder if we could expect more game specific sets for the summer wave (I personally wanna see how they handle the Riders series or the Rush series) Quote

Cream and Big seem possible too. The chaotics are less likely I imagine. Edited October 14, 2024 by Agent Kallus Quote

But I wanted an opinion on my Omega Moc Looks absolutely great, Sonic Heroes was my child hood game and me and my 3 siblings each had out own team. I was team dark so Omega is an important sonic character to me. My only problem with him is that he'll be a bit huge next to minifigs but that's a problem TLG themselves often has so it's no big deal. I think I actually prefer the first option for the legs, it looks a bit sturdier but still accurate. Quote

Takanuinuva Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 So decided to take a look at the Cyclone vs Metal Sonic set on Lego.com and found an interesting detail Metal Sonic has a hole in the back of his head so he can be posed in flight. https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/bltf8b00a265cf39bbf/77002_360_SoMe.mp4#t=0.1 Quote
